Knicks trade…
Kat, Deuce, Pacome and Kolek
Kings trade…
Domantas, Murray and D Carter
Knick rotation
Domantas, OG, Murray, Mikal, Jalen
Mitch, Yabu, Hart, Clarkson, Carter
I think Kat and Domantas are close defensively BUT Domantas gives solid effort and no dummy plays like Kat.
Domantas enhances OG, Murray, Mikal and Brunson games to form elite offense.
Why would we do this if Kings never won with Domantas? Well maybe we believe the rest of our squad is better vs Kings and a 2-4 of Mikal/Murray/OG is defensively very solid.
Carter a very good rebounder and shooter at back-up 1 or 2 and should be able to play off Clarkson.
Why for Kings? Well why not plus I give them 2 youngsters to develop.
Thoughts??
I want to see KAT in a real offense. What if he turns out to be the best passing big man in the league afterall? I think his value is about to skyrocket if we implement a new offense

I tend to trust Kat less the more passes -- he just gets too casual and try's to make home run pass. On his career over 645 games he's basically a 1 to 1 A/TO ratio player. For every nice pass there is a T.O. to follow. Last 3-4 years Sabonis is roughly a 2.5 A/TO ratio guy and avg. ~7 assists per game.
Kat is such an enigma -- at times I LOVE HIM and at times I don't think he's serious enough on D or with his decision making to win a championship. For Kat to truly flourish as you wish we'd be forced to play him at center with Mitch off the court and what does that do to us defensively?
Where Sabonis is short for a center, has defensive and rim protection issues of his own. I still view Sabonis as an ultra serious competitor and he's also someone who has proven he can excel in a Brown offense. Sabonis has avg. +12 boards 8 years straight (WOW).
KAt avg. 12 last year for the first time in 7 years.
Big thought in this direction is clunkiness of Kat/Jalen fit (could Sabonis and Brunson be different - particularly with Sabonis having ball more at the elbows and Jalen going off ball). The other part is I really feel Sabonis would open up our other shooters/cutters more vs Kat who again I view as very turnover prone. Sabonis was of the leagues best screeners - something Kat doesn't or won't do.
I think it's an interesting swap to at least consider - doubt we go there and not sure if Kings would have ANY interest.
KAT doesn't box out. That's all I really want to know. I don't care about how many rebounds he averages, it's empty rebounding numbers. Same for Hart. KAT is also completely not interested in discipline. Silly fouls and turnovers are his signature things. Sabonis is the opposite. KAT is more talented of the two.
KAT wins matchups against the best bigs in the league. Bam and Embiid come to mind. He's played great against Joker. Sabonis wilts when he plays Randle. If we are trying KAT I was guys who defend coming back. No ifs ands or butts.
I guess I was suggesting the trade in order to boost the entire team rather than winning 1 on 1 match-ups vs other centers.
For me I think about which is more likely...
KAT finally grows a pair and commits to defense first approach so he maintains the needed defensive intensity we so desperately need from our C
OR
Sabonis toughens up defensively some and K.Murray offers enought length and more defensive coverage to minimize Sabonis's limitations protecting the paint
No evidence the either is likely to happen but if you are choosing between these two we are picking between two defensively challenged players in different ways...
One benefit of making this trade could be moving OG to the 3, Bridges to the 2 and Hart to the bench as they would each be in better roles and oversized for their respective positions (as OG and Bridges were at times undersized last year at the 3 and 4 spots). KM is kind of a 3/4 hybrid but is capable from outside and that gives us more options and increases depth.
The downside is we lose a bunch of offensive firepower/shooting/ISO from KAT
So for me it comes down to who's tougher (or able to still develop) - ultimately more willing to step up defensively and consistently?
I think I'd roll the dice on the Sabonis trade because despite his flaws - I think he player harder, passes and rebounds just as well and we could land a young/up and coming player in Keegan Murray. This allows Brunson to still be "the show" as Sabonis appears more comfortable in a complementary role. Yes we would miss those occasional KAT moments (eg Detroit heroics) but we also would have the struggles switching/dropping down and mental lapses and lumbering footwork. KAT is like a delicious italian sub but it only is served with a condiment that nobody wants on their italian sandwich.
I’m never a fan of downgrading in talent for a similar type of player. We are just so less dangerous going from KAT to Sabonis. And I’m not sure Murray is even a rotation player here if we go with 9.

I won't go that far regarding Murray, but this trade would definitely lower the ceiling of this team. I think you would need to start Mitch next to Sabonis. Sabonis isn't nearly the outside scoring threat KAT is and he wasn't good at all defensively next to Turner in Indiana.
Mike Brown knows Kings roster as well as anyone and he’d know if a certain player/s could boost NY roster.
Another item I forgot —- Scott Perry now runs Kings and has relationships with Knick exec. Mgmt.
Would not be surprised if some type deal goes down bet these 2 teams.

The only player I really want from them is Keon Ellis.

Ellis is an interesting situation because conflicting reports where Kings fans wanted Brown to play him more but also reporting that Brown was being forced to play Heurter over Ellis.
On Kings roster I like Sabonis, Murray, Monk and Ellis --- all intriguing to me.
Wonder if any way to get our hands on K. Ellis ?
Cheap deal - would seem to be ideal 6'5" defensive minded guard with +40% 3FG%. Would he be expensive - I assume yes and not sure Kings would ever move.
Any ideas on package deals? Would assume Deuce would have to go but other combinations of players both ways also.
Surround JB/Kat with 3 defender/shooters and I think Ellis can handle a bit as well.
Brunson
Ellis
Mikal
OG
Kat
