Society is rife with hypocrisy. And what you mentioned is one of the many, clear biases that exist. But I'm of the opinion that Ivey is in the wrong. No one is forcing him to accept anything but he's attempting to do that with others. I'm a laissez-faire kinda guy socially.

Also, free speech has to do with what the gov't can and cannot do, not private companies in this context. So I think your base understanding of what Free Speech is is not correct.
These are private enterprises in name...but they are so heavily subsidized by tax dollars and "exemptions" that they border on being state-run entities. It's pretty obvious that there is political capture so extreme amongst the billiönaíre class that they are effectively the state. What they want goes...and should be subject to free speech as prescribed by 1st amendment. I do realize though that I'm leaving in a fantasy world
Free speech means you are free to say what you want without government retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction. None of those things happened to him. It does not mean you are free from the consequences of what you said. Him losing his job is a consequence of him using his free speech. The NBA is not a government so they did nothing wrong.

Believe what you want but I don't think Chicago was thinking that way.
They were thinking at a marking level and about their customers and their own locker room and how much of a dumb fool Jaden makes them look like, cause he represents the Bulls and they didn't want to deal with all of that and more.
Simple as that. They didn't want to deal with a disruptive moron, they got better things to put their energy and time towards. Like skill and player and team development instead of asshattery.
