In the short run Lakers were very good this year but Doncic AGAIN broke down. Somewhere Nico has a point. I said it would take 5 years to fully get the trade but thats one point for him.
What Dallas squandered was not fully using the assets properly putting Doncic out to bid in fear he'd use leverage by not resigning? They did ask MIlwaukee as part of a Giannis trade? Rumore was that was it.
I don't fault them for signing Kyrie. They got a good version of him. Good as he was he too broke down and cost double what they could have had Brunson for.
Jason Kidd? The Great Jason Kidd, HOF player and a pretty good coach could not advocate for them to keep Brunson? He had him in practice, coached him, saw what was possible and still they still traded him? Kidd has proven to be slimey dude and while they resigned him he really has no voice? Did Kidd throw all under the bus and wanted Luka gone also? Lets be real, They made Kidd gone with a nice severence!
I know Jalen has exceeded all expectations and rumores were Cuban would have extended him but got cute and waited too long. I think he dangled him at trade deadline?

For all the tank conspiracies and Silver blame look at the drafts where teams got it wrong. The draft is a trecherous place. Odds of lottery position matter but so does creating opportunities. The more you have the higher chance of being "Lucky". LIke Knicks get Mitch but wiffed on Knox.

I covered those points not putting it up for bids other than Milwaukee but the sequence is muddied if they had kept Brunson, not gotten Kyrie, etc. Its too easy to retrace it all.
I get why they did AD with Kyrie just a season from being in the finals but that went south really fast so there is little to debate other than Nalod being a pain in the ass about it. Had they made a run fans would have not revolted as they did. But they didn't!

During the playoffs I am not sure if Mitch has raised his value or not ? He has to play a specific back up role. He is not a starter or a big minute back up. He can't hit foul shots, he is good for us, but if he demands a big price tag I can see the team letting him go. Don't know if they even can sign and trade him, but they likely can obtain a above average back up thru free agency or the draft

His FT shooting makes him more provisional in usage than he should be at this stage of his career.
The only significant evolution he's shown is likely due to the regimen they put him on to get healthier. That helped regain some of the mobility and jumping ability he was starting to lose in his middle years.
Mitch's situation may force the team to think of the center position as a 3 man rotation. The alternative when Mitch and KAT are not on the floor besides Huk is going small ball which Brown has done sometimes and it has even worked well too sometimes.
I think they'll keep him on a two year deal if current reports of blowing out the cap for the next years are true. He does fck with the other bigs in the league like no one else does.
