They’re under the cap by a lot and we all know Silver hates the Knicks and loves his precious lakers.
During the playoffs I am not sure if Mitch has raised his value or not ? He has to play a specific back up role. He is not a starter or a big minute back up. He can't hit foul shots, he is good for us, but if he demands a big price tag I can see the team letting him go. Don't know if they even can sign and trade him, but they likely can obtain a above average back up thru free agency or the draft
His FT shooting makes him more provisional in usage than he should be at this stage of his career.
The only significant evolution he's shown is likely due to the regimen they put him on to get healthier. That helped regain some of the mobility and jumping ability he was starting to lose in his middle years.
Mitch's situation may force the team to think of the center position as a 3 man rotation. The alternative when Mitch and KAT are not on the floor besides Huk is going small ball which Brown has done sometimes and it has even worked well too sometimes.
I think they'll keep him on a two year deal if current reports of blowing out the cap for the next years are true. He does fck with the other bigs in the league like no one else does.

Mitch has done an excellent job on Wemby he’s getting paid.

If they're not managing cap space he should definitely be back on a 2 year deal
definitely 1-2 more good defensive games from kat/mitch the lakers are going to throw Mitch an offer he cannot turn down.
25m level. 2 yr/50m I think.
he has good synergy with Luka too.
Mitch is gonna get paid by someone imo.
Playoff mitch? Avg 14 min, 7 rebs (really good!) and 5 pts per.
He played 60 games this year HEALTHY. Held out back to backs. Thats still more than 25% of the season. HEALTHY!
He played 17 games last season.
31 the year before.
YOu gonna give him starter money? He is a free agent and teams need a center, I love mitch.
We winnng a chip might decide many things on this roster.
I have faith in our FO to get it done either way.

1. Silver does not hate the knicks. You never say why.
2. How are you connecting Silver with Mitch signing with knicks?

guys get paid off playoff runs all the time
plus LAL needs a C, and Redick is super analytical and will push them to do it. Luka also loves playing with a lob threat because it makes his drives even harder to guard.

He’s getting way more than that on the open market

Mitch is a starting Center on most NBA rosters. He also was just on international tv shutting down the league’s best Center and a 7’4 phenom in the most critical moments of the finals. I know he’s not as great of a locker room guy and as durable as Kristaps Porzingis but he is getting paid.

Yeah the spurs getting 12 more free throws in game 2 if you don’t count hack a Mitch — Silver loves us. Now go write a 62 page essay

Maybe Silver just hates Dolan
Free throws obviously an issue, but you gotta figure nowadays that teams looking for a center are looking at advanced stats to help evaluate the contribution of anyone they're interested in. And free throws aside, Mitch makes a very positive contribution.
Someone above said he's 31 though, so no-one is going to break the bank for him.
I mean, cap issues aside (I don't follow this stuff and have no idea), you'd think OKC would be interested in a back-up center who can give Wemby the wobbles.

I honestly cannot picture Adam Silver handing the Larry O'Brian trophy to Dolan. Just can't do it. It seems impossible.

You profess to having a legal degree and passing the bar but when it comes to facts and presenting them you don't. At least Cousin Vinny made an effort.

I don't see that either.
Then I remind myself Silver works for the owners. Dolan used to be a very "powerful owner" who headed committees but resigned for them. My take is the league financial parity was not to his liking.
Not like these guys don't into each other often or have a contentious relationship that is public. Maybe its worse?
Knicks loss did make me angry at refs.
Its one game. It was close. Knicks shots were not dropping as they have the last few weeks in crunch time and while dirty, Spurs had size and manhandled all but Kat and OG.

On the other hand if you were commissioner would you prefer to hand MVP to brunson or KAT or dirtbag Wemby who said he’d hit NY like 9/11?
I hope the Knicks and Mitch find a way to stay together. We’ve been loyal to each other and a good fit. And while Mitch will get a raise I hope he’s not a bottom dollar guy
And if I were another GM id have to think long and hard about spending big money on him given injury history and FTs (especially since they seem to be getting worse). Not saying it won’t happen but I’d probably be looking at others like Isiah Stewart as Detroit has to start breaking the bank on some of their guys.
