The rest of the best coming up

Tyson Chandler #5?!
A number of players seem more impactful to me.
Houston, Spreewell, Hart, JR Smith, Kurt Thomas

I think Spree should be higher.

Also, I’d take iHart over Mitch every day of the week.

Nalod @ 9/22/2025 9:24 AM
we now past 25 years since knicks were in finals vs. SAS. Spliting hairs here but that Placement of Spree might be correct.
H20 is about right. He had a few more good years left inside that 25 year window whilel Spree started to act up, show up late, broke his wrist, and began to decline.
David Lee's last seaosn with us was his Allstar year. 20pts, 11 rebs and voted 17th in DPOY.
Tyson 5th is a stretch.

So, Brunson, Randle, Melo, Amare will be in the top 4. But the list is totally suspect with a Thibs era bias.

I had to puke a little bit after reading Enes Kanter

Ray Felton was the starting PG on 2 Knick playoff teams? He was a "boring" selection but deserving.

I think whats interesting is where you see Marbury. Still a lot of negative vibes and frustrations from the Marbs days, but was JR Smith a better player in his tenure? JR positive vibes, probably a medicore player. Overall has been a fun offseason listen.

I would have HEAVILY tilted towards the current era Knicks. Every other era in this 25 yr period was dissapointing, frustrating, ended poorly.

To me Brunson my clear no.1 and Randle my clear no.2. Melo finds his way into the top 5, but I probably would have had Josh pushing my own top 5.

The time frame does skip over the 99-00 finals run - so where you fit in Houston and Spree I think is tough to decide.

Sorry. I meant Enes Freedom. Thanks for the correction.

Probably harder to decide than just picking individual best seasons. Number of seasons. All Stars? All NBA? Fan favorites? Below is loosely by position with a nod toward talent. I think some of my "omissions" were based on non NY performance. Guys that did well outside of NY. I do think Marbs is a top 10. Maybe as high as 6. I think they almost knocked out players with only one season - Dante and KAT got free passes.

Brunson / Marbs / IQ / Dante / Rose / Calderon / Nate
Houston / Bridges / Crawford / JSmith / Fournier
Melo / Spree / OG / Hart / RJ / Gallo / AHarrington / WChandler
Stoudemire / Randle / KP / ZBo / Lee / Freedom / TThomas / KVH
KAT / Chandler / iHart / Mitch / Camby / KThomas

Marbury? No allstar in 5 seasons. Yearly decline in production. Coach killer.
The abysmal record? No seaosn above .500. Was toxic everywhere including Knicks.
He was talented, but a total bone head. He was exiled.

Yeah. I’d probably not do that. I am not sure Brunson has surpassed Melo yet. Melo has 6 all star seasons and a scoring title. Brunson will likely surpass him, but I’m not sure it’s happened yet.

Julius had a bigger impact on the franchise.

Melo had more offensive talent.

Julius was clearly the better defender, when he chose to play defense.

And bully ball was glorious NY basketball.

****ing Jaime.

Melo will have had the better career but time in a knick uni and perhaps winnig % matters.
Melo was great when he got here. Randle became all star and allNBA after he signed with knicks.
Melo played few important games and had few important moments. Jalen in three seasons has exceeded Melo in my less than humble opinoin. Jalen had demonstrated more team leadership on and off the court while time has perhaps diluted Melo's selfishness and uncooperative elements. I have no issues with his HOF credentials given his accomplishments in NCAA, Olympics, and NBA career point totals. He scored alot of points in his 7 seasons here. His production was well applauded and recognized.
Not his fault team was not strong around him. Circumstances are what they were.
