Our boxing out was still poo. I like the running tho. I can definitely see us being able to hang points on teams and then have Brunson finish them off with less then 5 mins in the 4th.
That last unit with Matthews, Kolek and Hukporti was very surprising but they looked like they have been playing together for a while

shall we circle back to this after game 1 when the Knicks lose a tight game to Cle as they had no idea how to run the plays down the stretch and had to revert to 1/2 court iso plays?Just kidding. Im sure this is just what they need
If we were just playing off instincts we failed.
T-Pups were over playing every hand off and can anyone recall 1 back door cut against that pressure?
Giving ball to Mitch at the elbow is a path to nowhere - Kat yes but Mitch no.
Im not going to dog Brown all year. I dont like the hire at all. Totally get moving on from Thibs but I dont see this as a move that gets us better. That being said Brunson is such a legit captain and I love this roster. Brown just feels like a Doc Rivers type hire to me, but if gels with Brunson/KAT and the rest of the crew this can surely be a good fit.

Firing Thibs *and* also making roster moves was a bullshit move.
Unless they discussed potential roster moves, and Thibs was like “I won’t play them.”

Thibs got roasted in his exit interviews. Bottom line is there were key players here who were done with him and enough so where Leon sent him.
I always thought there would be no way he's canned unless he's badly upset or loses the locker room but it looks like he did indeed lose enough of it to cost his job. Is what it is. Thibs knows the game. He was here 5 years and was extended so I would say he played it pretty good until he didnt

Or the resigning Mikal Thing?
Or the maybe the fact Thibs doe show up on those polls from players who don't like some coaches?
Or, Maybe KAT loves Thibs, but not using him properly?
Thibs did not lose his team, but he was starting to lose their confidence a bit?

"A bit" doesnt get you fired with what? 3 years left? There were key rotation players who were clear about not wanting him back.
Its a players league. Im glad we got the guys we have

He got roasted and was also shutting out his bosses. Pretty much self sabotage behavior he's exhibited at every stop in his career.
I like what I see out of the offense even if they couldn't make shots and are rusty as hell. Lots of sprays to the corner. Mikal and OG are gonna have a big year. Overall the team seems to be sharing the ball much more, everyone getting touches on every possession. Offense takes a while to click but you can see what they are trying to do this year.
Clarkson is gonna be a ride this year, but is a huge boon to the team when Brunson sits. Having a creator and scorer like him behind JB is a massive 180.
Brogdon needs to make the team and get minutes. Do whatever it takes to make that happen. He's just a good fit in a lot of different potential roles here.
Things certainly would have looked better and likely opened other options if we had made a few 3’s last night.
I like Clarkson addition - not going to live and die on every move he makes —- he has handle and courage to get into paint and to the rim, plus can finish in the paint. Liked the 1 spray pass for I think OG corner 3.
Our main unit still concerns me with overall ability to create off the dribble and can someone create some open looks for Kat (again last night rarely do I see Jalen creat a simple open looks for great shooting big.

Agreed, I really would like to see more of those three playing together. The sad part unfortunately is that the only way Matthews makes the team is if Kolek is traded.
Keep Dadiet at all costs team needs him on deck for seasons on the horizon. Just trade Kolek and let Mathews and Shamet duel it out. The loser goes to the G League and if a trade arises during the season freeing up a spot so be it

Brown is teaching concepts, first, and when the players master the concepts, then he will install the play book. Smart move by Brown. The season is a marathon. By mid season, or the 2nd half, we should be rolling....

This is wild. Do you think it was intentional?
I didn’t realize until now that iHart is off the team. :(
I knew his floater looked different.
In germany and australia Huk wore #15.
Maybe paying homage to Louis Orr perhaps?

season is NOT a marathon when you get off to a slow start cause you cant finish games and players dont know the plays. We have a game in just over a week.
It's still wild we are trying for a chip and Mike Brown is the guy.
My take is its a marathon and a process that will take time if this team is to get to the next level.
Not to knock Thibs, but we know this year there was more flex to deepen the bench and get a coach who would use it.
We needed to run more and do it with a more free style. Thibs is a task master and thats not his forte.
Its crazy mike brown is now the dude but he is very qualified having come close himself and as an assistant afterwards get a sort of "master class" being with GSW. The guys is uniquely qualified and I think a great hire in the aftermath of moving on from Thibs.
If Brown is to employ a very different schematic its logical to think it will take time. We'll lose some games and media will be all over it if they don't jump out to a strong start. Likewise if we jump out on a run and league figures shit out, and Brown starts to add layers which complicates things a bit fans will freek out when they start to hit a wall.
We all want a chip. Its along season.
