- Mike Brown talking too much (can see this starting to wear the wrong way when ups downs of season happen)
- Recent Kat comments where he doesn't sound all too excited about offense (could Kat be impacted mentally with the Giannis rumors)
- Mitch load management being load managed (not even practicing on 10/9 after not having played since 10/2) - what's up here?
- Fact we've barely heard 1 peep about defense this entire off season (almost everything has been focused on offense) - at least in press
In my mind (a vast empty space) I tend to think either a significant trade is still on horizon short-term (maybe involving Mitch) or the Giannis thing could break sooner than expected and maybe Kat has heard back-channel he's definitely going to Bucks if that goes down.
Don't know - just seems like the vibes are a bit off.
Could all be just the switch from Thibs where you knew exactly what to expect and what he expected and now moving towards a different approach (new coach, load management, rotation uncertainty &/or more verbal focus on offense vs defense).
For example with Brown.
I think he was asked what his #1 priority was and I think he said to get us to play faster.
In my mind I would have preferred to make us a top 5 defense.
Not concerned. They still have much to work thru and perhaps at best we have a 20% chance of winning a chip and thats providing everyone is healthy in April. We have a long season to ascess
Thus when predictions of a 53 win season seems low its really the process that things need to get sorted out. True with all teams mind you but after a trip to the semi's fan expectations are high.
I read Brown got walked over by Kobe the year he coached the lakers. Kobe for most of his career was a dick. Kobe never won a chip without Phil. Kobe was a complicated man and grew to mature over time. But like Lebron, and Jordan, and countless others they evolved over time. Matt Barnes has to say some controversial shit to get attention and perhaps Brown who had a great team there was too easy being still just 41 years old and perhaps intimidated by the veteran team who had lost the previous year to Dallas (eventaual Champion) and two seaosns from a chip. Both under Phil. Brown lasted one (Short 66 game season) and lost to Thunder who did get to finals with Durant and Company. He was fired the next seaosn after a 1-4 start and replaced by MDA
who was 40-32 and lost in first round to Spurs. Lakers big change was moving disinterested Andrew Bynum and bought in a still quite good Dwight Howard who did have back issues. So its not like that team was really better after brown left. In fact that seems to be a common theme. Brown gets fired and team does not improve much in his abscence.
That was 14 years ago.
Each team has a different personality and given our core he might be the right guy. This is a veteran team that was tight. We all worried about Thibs and over 5 years he proved to be a bit different previous stops. Brown now age 55 most certainly has evolved given his experiences.
Im concerned about Maybe Kat being injured. Perhaps thats why he was not happy. As for his role in the offense? Maybe they just don't want to talk about it yet. Preseason did not show many reps with the starters so we have not seen much of our core. Yabu is not in synch yet. Jalen will be fine and perhaps Mikal as we read could really be more effective.
WE are .500 on talent alone and if so after 10 games I won't be at all concerned.
Too early to be concerned about anything. Reminds me of Hart complaining about his role, minutes, and confusion last preseason. It's time to play the games and that will determine concern. Knicks beat Cavs tomorrow and everyone is going to be loving everything.
[Towns] on his potential in new offense under Mike Brown: “Honestly, I don’t know… I don’t know. But we’re figuring it out. Honestly, I just don’t know… it’s just different. It’s different.”
I don't think it should be a surprise to anyone that KAT wants to play in a ISO heavy offense where the floor is spread out giving him room tom operate

Josh hasn't really scrimmaged either. Wonder what the update is, it's been 2-3 weeks?
I think most of us are concerned. As evidenced by the lack of a hang your ass out there thread.
BTW, 54 wins. Swept by Minny in the finals.
JK… lose to the Thunder in 6.
Ask me again around Thanksgiving but going into the season, I'm not really concerned. Everything points to us winning 50 plus and having a top 3 record in the East assuming we stay healthy.
Both Hart and Mitch not practicing again today 10/21 day before opener.
Are we setting up to trade these cats???
This is just weird otherwise.
I mean, yes. Anytime you have a coaching change you have to be concerned about the transition. In year's past, we were often moving on from coach's failures so the new regime brought new hope. Here, we had a coaching success but the perception that progress had stagnated. In a vacuum, I am not sure I would have selected Mike Brown outright for this job. This is based mostly on how the Kings performed after Jordi Fernandez left Mike. Its not a condemnation but a fear.
Maybe we just hiding Mitch/Josh from Cavs until playoffs -- I get Josh could still be injured but what the hell happened to Snitchy Mitchy?
Past few days seeing multiple people suggest Hart (due to physical style of play) could have a fast decline like a Luol Dang or Gerald Wallace.
Interesting thought - don't think we are anywhere near that point with Josh but I do think he will hit a hard wall down the road and fall off a cliff physically.
Josh has two more years at about 20mil each then a TEAM option for 23m in the last year.
Josh is a glue guy but that finger and his back is an issue at present.

You're crazy. 50 wins, max. Second round exit.
We picked up new pieces, but there's a good chance Josh and Mitch miss most of the season.
