I can’t shake the fact that this team is still clunky as hell - we don’t handle the ball well (our front court in particular with Mikal/OG/Kat/Mitch/Yabu are sloppy ball handlers, passers and mistake prone).
We still don’t have a guard / wing with some size to create off of - or next to Brunson.
Hart brings some of this but is brutal offensively — Clarkson as well but he’s a wild ride every night.
Just collectively we aren’t great dribbling, passing, creating for each other.
Kat - our expensive 2nd option goes from smart to stupid play to play —- can’t stop with sloppy TO’s and horrific silly fouls every blanking night.
All that said - still a top 3 team in East but nothing feels special about this group.
Also - something seems off - not sure exactly but feel like Kat has wind of trade on the burner and Mitch situation is just whack ( he’s not that good to be rested this long and if he’s hurt again well there you go (hurt again).

I'll take it one further: as a PG with the ball in his hands, Brunson also gets sloppy far too often for his talent level, I'm putting the bar a little high for him. For me there is a good swath of grey area for a PG trying to make a pass, and it's not the risky/flashy/highlight passes that Brunson is sometimes messing with, it's just the brain-fart types that he has too often for me. And then it's exacerbated by the other guys and their lack of ball handling.

Hopefully it's just early and things aren't clicking. I think I just need to see a couple blowouts where things look easy. Knicks have the wide open shots and pretty much everyone is missing.

Have the Knicks had enough games yet with KAT and Brunson? Cause they have not had the vibe moments between the 2 of them yet? Or enough of them?

Knicks are averaging 46 3pt attempts per game on a very small sample size.

Outside of Boston last year and 1 Houston team during the MDA years, it clears every other team ever. Ever. Including GSW of Curry Thompson and Durant fame.
Now we just gotta make them.

its one game... but why are we still chucking them up and not going to the rim? I guess Im still stuck on that last guy's MO who thought winning was more fun than fun is fun

We don’t have the personnel to attack the rim. But I suppose that describes lots of teams in today’s NBA.

Yeah - last night could have just been a bad game….1st road game, Miami influence and piss poor shooting.
Just everything seemed too casual (again like something is off in locker room) —- I don’t think we saw any great D last night, dumb fouls galore —- yes missing 3’s leads to run outs and bad defensive position BUT something with Kat seems off (maybe my imagination).
I hear you on Brunson and the occasional blank up on simple stuff — for me Jalen frustrates me when he keeps missing Kat wide open and (I get this feeling with all scorers) when he tries to get himself going early before rest of team (don’t want Jalen taking 26 shots in game 3 of new regime preaching ball movement , running and sharing).
Listening to call in show prior to Heat game and caller bitching about how often Jalen ignores Kat wide open off screen action — it’s just weird because I don’t think it’s a conscious thing by Jalen.

Rough game. Figure it will take 20 games to really sense what this team is about. Sure missed Deuce. Clarkson/Kolek/Shamet on the floor together doesn't pass the eye test for me. I'd get Diawara or Dadiet some reps there.

Shooting % thru the first 3 ranks last in the NBA I believe..as pointed out? The fact that we are 2-1 is a good sign.

Ok but after missed 20 i found myself just saying, man can't we just do the thing where we let Brunson hold the ball and try to score that worked for us :)

I agree they will shoot better. Im glad they are getting the looks they are getting.
The main issue is the bench pieces haven't found any rhythm. No Deuce yesterday magnified that.

The layup misses by Yabu and Huk were disappointing. So were the wide open 3point misses by Shamet.
All the bench guys can't have bad days all at once. It's wild
