1997 David Robinson was out for the year. Spurs draft Tim Duncan with the #1 pick. Robinson comes back and they win championships in 1999 and 2003
Indiana went to the finals last year, now their most valuable player out for the year, while they tank.
Do they end up winning the lottery, to push them over the hump and finally win an NBA championship?
Oh God, I think I'm going to puke...
I really think the NBA needs to prevent these kinds of situations by looking at multiple year history.

Well what if The Wizards decide to tank and after having a top spot in the lottery fall out of the lottery and the Knicks draft 9th. Then we use that pick on a player or in a trade to land our missing piece and win the championship for years to come.
