You mean Yabu.
OG front court. Shamet back court

Martin jumped aboard before his breakout game. Good eye sir :) There is still plenty of room on the bandwagon

Brunson out, Shamet and Deuce need to step up.
They did.
OG out, Yabu time to show his meddle.
Give me 20 minutes and a good showing. No GerSanity needed right away.
Road win!

Thoughts? I think we discount Kats impact. Outside of a few dumb fouls per game, and some whining, what else we havv to be upset? The defense is not great, but not matador by any stretch. The passing/vision is as good as any big man not name Jokic. Defensive rebounding and outside shooting is elite.

Honestly with the clutch floor spacing and the intensity on defense I squint and I almost see a new DiVincenzo.

More cost effective one too

What I like most about Shamet? He plays defense and has no fear as a solid 2way reliable roll player
Knixkik @ 11/20/2025 8:15 PM
He’s definitely made me a believer in his fit since starting this thread.
Swishfm3 @ 11/20/2025 10:16 PM
He’s won us two games already. Thoughts are high
Hamo49 @ 11/20/2025 11:20 PM
love him, hits the 3, puts his body on the line!!! get me a jersey!!!

Not for nothing but the Knicks could have used this version of Shamet last year and it would have put Josh Hart and team in a better place.

Shamet is doing very good things with Knicks and this feels like the version of the guy they were seeing just before he hurt himself last year.

ccch @ 11/21/2025 8:21 AM
probably one of our better shooters...that's been our weakness for a while.
nyvector16 @ 11/21/2025 8:27 AM
I wish we had gotten a 2nd year team option on his deal.
Shamet is basically playing himself out of the Knicks due to salary cap situation.

This trade deadline is the fork in the road for the Knicks:
1. Commit to resigning Mitch which would bring us above the 2nd apron
2. Commit to trading Mitch, which may still put us up against the 2nd apron depending on what we get back

How does this relate to Shamet?
If Shamet keeps playing top notch basketball, the only way to bring him back is via an exception since we are 1 year short of his bird rights.
Exceptions are nullified once we go over 2nd Apron. If exception is used then it puts hard cap on the Knicks and there is no way to resign Mitch.

This salary cap situation is getting complex and to add even more tension Mitch is basically breaking rebounding records and proving he is the Defensive Anchor we appreciate him to be (When he is on the floor).

I can't remember a more consequential Trade Deadline for the Knicks, but the sad truth is this... it is impossible to have both Mitch and Shamet on the team past this season. Unless a Core rotational player is traded, like Josh hart or OG, which is not likely to happen.

Nothing against Shamet he’s playing really well but Mitch is the more important player. Rebounds, blocks shots, changes shots. Covers up defensive shortcomings of Brunson and KAT. Excellent offensive rebounder.

As good as Shamet is it’s easier to find a replacement.

I completely agree. It is not really even a choice as Robinson is one of our most important players.
If the team gives out any minimum contracts this year before the Mitch signing I hope they consider this scenario to lock up folks for enough time to get bird rights.

If you are over the 2nd Apron, bird rights is the only thing keeping your team together.

Yeah I like Shamet, but it would feel much more like the end of it all if Mitch left the team because I don't see any way that we could realistically replace that skillset. If Shamet leaves, we could bring back Matthews or if we're lucky maybe Dink Pate or McCullar might be ready to be brought up from the G league. On another note, is it possible that the reason we took so long to re-sign Shamet is that they were trying to push for the extra year with a team option, but his agent refused?

He would have been asking for a player option to make it make sense?

Might be easier to resign Shamet.

We can’t have nice things.
