Republicans always want to put labels on things because it is easier to dismiss labels than actual ideas. They call the mayor a socialist, but he is not. He wants to make certain public services free. That is not true socialism, and it entirely consistent with our capitalist system. The government gives subsidies to farmers, tax credits for certain things, grants, social security, and other benefits. That is not socialism. We need to stop talking about labels and start debating ideas.
Free buses? Does anyone think this is going to work? Its going to become a homeless shelter on wheels. They tried this in Kansas City. Assaults on drivers increased substantially. Also what they called "endless looping" occurred, where people ( mostly homeless, to keep out of the cold) just rode the buses for hours on end with no endpoint in mind.
