Funny thing is I own a business in NYC and Tampa.
The ones strongest about the right, including the ones opposing socialist policies are usually the first ones to refuse a normal paying job, first ones in line for unemployment, Medicaid and free food.

In my opinion, most politicians are scumbags and only in it for power and money. It just so happens the right has voted in one of the best politicians in history.
Qatar hated until they give me a plane and business deals in their country.
Saudis, part of 911 until they let me build for free in their country.
Give me all your money to fight the steal, and I’ll just keep it.
Help out my buddy, for a handsome fee, to take over the horrible Chinese tik tok killing our country.
Help my buddies in the oil biz by taking over Venezuelan oil, for a fee. Oh and take a few million barrels for my control. This seems like the best socialist implementation in history.
But if poor people want a piece, throw rocks and call them

At the end of the day, people have to educate themselves on how the rich and powerful obtain and maintain power and wealth. That’s by convincing everyone that they are doing something for their benefit. Then once they have your vote or support they only do what what benefits them the most. Even if it means killing hundreds of thousands of people, taking all their money or enslaving innocent people. In today’s modern society with current technology, this is extremely easy to do. People have an attention span for a killing of about a week. They can be convinced of anything with one post that goes viral. Whether true or not. Be aware of the machine. One that is real good at manipulation. Go out and play some ball and realize everyone is just like you. Trying to have some fun in a world surrounded by fucked up things and people.

All these replies are full of fear mongering for the opposing political party. It's all gloom and doom and the sky is falling. Lots of conspiracy theory BS and democratic talking points. This forum is an echo chamber for your chosen political affiliation so I don't waste my time trying to form any opposing arguments to your political opinions. I will not change anyones mind or opinion here. I have witnessed the ganging up on forum members with opposing opinions and watched them all leave or be banned so I will not make the same mistakes that they did and engage in meaningful conversation because it always escalates into hysterics and anger. I will say there are a few here who are educated, worldly and informed in their history but that is not the norm.

I lived in NYC my whole life. I left in 2016 and I don't regret it for a minute. I love to visit but I am always glad to leave after a few days, I still own an apartment in NYC which I rent out. Ive been trying to sell it and the current instability is making that impossible. I really don't think NYC is fooked. I do however think it takes years to correct political mistakes and mismanagement. They haven't had a decent mayor since Bloomberg. Mamdani and Hochul seem to be more political animal than serious policy makers. They will blow whichever way popular opinion sends them in search of appeasement, political survival and ultimately political advancement. Hopefully their ambition aligns with the residents of their state.

I am fully willing to have an open dialogue. Very curios on how opposing party views things.
I mentioned several points. Which one do you think is fear mongering?
As I stated “all” politicians are scumbags. My question is if you hate NYC and a republican was in charge. (Let’s not get started on him) wouldn’t you blame him and not one that just started?

Just curious. If you know all of this as you claim, why create an inflammatory political based thread on a Knicks fanboard especially since there is an existing off topics forum? Is it that you have no impulse control, or are maybe you are just a hypocrite seeking to make the point of your political leanings while demonizing the other side?

Community got smaller. That's how it works. If you act like an immature asshole, I really don't have the time to moderate that nonsense. No one does.

You will notice that you and I and others do not have the same opinion on this topic. I have zero inclination (and never have) to ban you because of that, as an example.

Credible conversations would be, for example.

Trump campaign promise on lowering inflation. Results so far = Failed campaign promise.
Person who voted and vouched for him leading to his return to Presidency: I thought he would be able to reduce inflation due to X,Y.Z. He hasn't been able to do so due to X,Y,Z(Odds are the reason why he wouldn't was presented as a case against him).
Which should then be followed up with: I was wrong in my believing he would be able to do so based on X,Y,Z(The case presented against him probably ended up being correct). Or I still believe he will get it done based off X,Y,Z. Even though he campaigned on doing so with more immediate results.

Which would also go for.
Ending the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.
Ending the Palestinian extermination in Gaza.
Producing an superior solution to ACA aka Obama care
Releasing and exposing the PDFs in the Epstein Files.
End attacking other countries for their resources and or involving ourselves in their politics.
Etc, etc, etc, etc.

Instead: Enter Gaslighting.

This keeps happening, with a side of murder every once in a while. This is what Trump is advocating for.

“ BREAKING: New video footage shows ICE agents violently assaulting and arresting a U.S. citizen… 20-year-old Mubashir…and it is even more horrifying.

The video shows agents slamming Mubashir into metal poles as they wrestle him into handcuffs. He’s not fighting. He’s not resisting. He’s pleading, telling them again and again that he is a U.S. citizen and that he has his ID on him. They ignore him.

Moments later, a group of people rush into the stairwell blowing whistles in protest. As they stand there, you hear Mubashir scream in pain: “My hand!” The agents then drag him outside toward their vehicle.

You can hear Mubashir tell them again that he has his ID. Instead of checking, the agents assault him a second time. They throw him to the ground, shove his face into the snow, and then forcing him into their car without ever verifying who he is.

They didn’t check his ID until after they’d already transported him miles away, to a detention facility, where they tried scanning his fingerprints and face into their system, and only then decided to look at the ID he’d been begging them to check from the start.

And when they realized they had brutalized an American citizen? They released him with no medical attention, no apology, and no transportation back to where they took him from.

This isn’t “immigration enforcement.”
This is lawless violence, committed by federal agents who act as if citizens have no rights and cameras don’t exist.

And this is exactly why people need to film, why states like Illinois are passing laws allowing residents to sue ICE agents directly… and why the public must keep demanding accountability until abuses like this are impossible to ignore and impossible to get away with.”

It's in the master plan. ICE (Trump's Gestapo really under Stephen Miller's direction) will continue doing more extreme and brutal things. They are hoping for revolt by the populace to justify enacting the Insurrection Act and Marshall law which gives him singular power.

The irony of which is this country is armed to the teeth and most of those gun collections belong to people who voted for Trump because they thought he would protect their right to bear arms and would not conduct unprovoked wars abroad.

Some of them will want to join the team like ICE goons and oppress their fellow countrymen, but a ton of MAGA will be locked and loaded if Trump's goons come to their door. It will make Waco look like a picnic, because some of these folks have arsenals and the ones who have nothing left lose will go down hard.

Masked secret police force is marching around cities arresting and jailing and killing citizens who do no wrong but not a peep about THAT being communist?

It’s not communist it’s actually fascist. We now have a heavily armed private Stephen Miller Gestapo COSPLAY’ing as Special Forces with zero experience or training

What about ICE? You were remarking here about the new major and your feelings about his changes to the police force.

Any comments here?

Trump is making America great again.
Like when hooded, masked mobs were hanging/shooting people on BS trumped up charges.

They are doing what many horrible regimes/dictators have done in the past. First, dehumanize the minority or enemy they want to annihilate via heavy propaganda. Then claim they are doing the world a favor by removing them by any means necessary. Just read history and you will see that most atrocities are committed using the same playbook.

It’s sad. The right claim to be a party of law and order. Guess they think anyone with a pulse and the ability to take a two week course with the DHS can become a judge, jury and executioner. Straight back to the days of lynch mobs? Only difference is that today’s mobs are paid for and directed by our government. Trump did say that he can shoot someone in the middle of the street and his base would not care. By extension, that just happened folks.

The analysis by the Institute for Policy Studies said that the 935 billionaires in the United States saw their combined wealth grow by nearly 21% in 2025, to $8.1 trillion. The group used data from the Forbes Real Time Billionaires list to do the analysis.

For comparison, the median family of four in Ohio saw its income increase less than 6% in part of 2025 when compared to the same period a year earlier, according to Census Bureau figures used by the U.S. Justice Department in bankruptcy proceedings.

Meanwhile, prices for consumers have charged ahead, leaving them further behind.

The analysis referred to a poll conducted for Politico in December. Among other woes, it found that half of those surveyed found it difficult to afford food, 27% skipped a medical checkup due to financial worries, and 23% skipped taking prescription medications for the same reason.

While millions struggle, the analysis by the Institute for Policy Studies found that the richest billionaires have been doing particularly well.
