Former Knick guard Michael Ray has passed. He was special player on the level of Magic with his passing.
I remember when the Knicks traded him the Post headline "knicks now Sugar free"

I never got to see him play.

One of my all time favorite players...was a 6'5 version of Magic at his peak. Sugar Ray had One of the best playoff series I ever when the Nets upset the Sixers in 84.

The devils candy got a grip on him and it took him down.
He was Magic "Lite", thats saying a lot. He could have been an alltime great.

He was a 4 time all-star on track for a HOF career. Drug addiction ruined it all for him. He was voted comeback player of the year only to test positive again the following year. That is point at which he got banned from the NBA. Sugar did redeem himself by becoming a mentor and coach to the younger generations.

We actually drafted him 2 picks ahead of Larry Bird, who was a junior at the time but draft eligible. Great move by Red Auerbach
