Let's just say that early concerns about him opting out and Knicks not having his Bird Rights were premature.

LOL,, you might say. Bit baffling as he had great season last year a good summer with Team France.
One might say it went to his head? It might appear it went instead to his ass!
He can’t move and now he doesn’t even want to shoot threes. We need him to be a floor-spacer if anything.

Fixed. 0 for his last 6 3pt shots.
I watched him play at least 10 times last year. I think he was legitimately good. A good post player and hit the above the the break 3 regularly. He went from cheesesteaks to Halal Carts I guess and that white sauce has more calories than you think

lol
I really cannot believe how bad he is. He's just unplayable at either end. He gets blown by pretty much every single time. He's so slow and heavy footed. He makes KAT looks like OG out there defensively. And offensively he does nothing. Feels like we were bamboozled into signing this guy.
We really needed another big and rotation player with that money. Maybe he can be trade bait at the deadline if we attach an asset to him.
I'm choosing to be patient with Yabu. I see some positive signs but he's still a little far away from what I was expecting him to be for us. He's def out of shape and I also think he hasn't adapted to his role at either end.

What’s concerning is he doesn’t even look at the basket. He’s just a screen setter on offense and a traffic cone on defense.
Not for nothing but I'm glad Knicks didn't go after Al Horford, he looks super shot

The NBA got faster. Al got older.
Shit happens.
I think it’s a classic case of mediocre player on a bad team was able to elevate to get a decent contract on a good team. But also he played a lot of minutes last year and this year he’s barely seen the court. It’s hard unless you’re a microwave to get into an offensive groove with such little minutes. Tonight’s game vs a bad jazz team is a perfect game to give him extended minutes to try to find a groove…
I have a lot of trust in Brown to eventually figure it out for Yabu. I think it's mainly a minutes issue so far.
Last year he avg. 27 min a game, this year 10. His per 36 min are not so far off.
Three is falling a bit more lately, but is it the right fit?

I still really question if Precious wasn't more valuable in that role.

We got Mo in the dev pipe, he's more effective anyway
His box score impact is also difficult to qualify because a lot of what he does on offense is just spread the floor in the corner.
Just rewatched his 7 minutes from tonight. He came in at the end of the 1st and 3rd as the 4 next to Mitch.
The biggest thing that stood out was his footspeed. He's expected to guard guys in the corner, but he can't provided help defense because he is too slow to slide over to help, and too slow to recover to his man.
He is also considerably wider than anyone else on the court. With some speed he could draw charges. Seems like he should be able to set screens and then pop the open attempt, but Knicks don't use him like that. Also, didn't seem effective on box outs.
He should be a trade candidate, even if it's just to open a roster spot and get under the cap.
Think the vision of Yabu was to be a spacing 5 with the 2nd unit or a 4 next to KAT. His shooting has stunk. I thought he had more of a low post game and was better on the boards. He is playing better lately, moving better. Guy probably needs more PT, but not getting it because he's not hitting from deep consistently enough.
