Knicks · What’s the deal with Yabusele? (page 4)

fitzfarm @ 12/19/2025 8:51 AM
Yabusele needs to be moved he looks way out of shape compared to last year . Jemison looks more qualified for minutes than Yabusele. I think Yabusele is the classic case of looking good on a terrible roster last year, but he’s just not good enough for minutes on this roster. I’d call the jazz up and see if we can get Olynyk for Yabusele.

Some guys are just not built for NY. He looks disgruntled while sitting on the bench. This guy needs to own that he’s stinking up the joint. I wonder if he can even jump high enough to dunk.
Knixkik @ 12/19/2025 10:49 AM
I would love to trade him for Achiuwa. Imagine if we had that guy ? But seriously, not sure he’s moveable this year because of the player option next year. We would have to attach assets to move him. Might as well just keep him as a placeholder salary for next year when his contract isn’t a negative like right now.

Maybe another team will need Yabusele in a three way larger deal and we can unload him and acquire a useful player in the bargain

Anything is possible but I think teams look at him and say the Knicks would have to pay us to take him.

Depends what if inorder to make a larger deal another team needs a contract his size to make a deal pass the cap rules who knows, the Knicks might get lucky and take advantage of another teams needs. It can happen.

This thread is the proper place for this. I'd move Yabusele, but he is a minus asset at this point. Would require attaching a second rounder. I would not sell low. Eventually he will have some moments and some games. Once his trade value goes back up- then I'd trade him. His only possible way is up at this point. Yes!!! Finding some positivity.....

Hey as bad as Kolek looked in summer league and he looked mediocre in preseason. Maybe that can give us some hope that Yabusele has improvement on tap. But I'd be happy to trade him for Kevin Love to play 10 minutes a game and give us depth.

Everything Yabu does wrong, Love does right. I watched the 3rd quarter of Jazz- Detroit and Love was a clear difference maker. Yabu's contract is going to cost a pick no matter what, if Knicks can trade him for Love the team can solve it's biggest weakness, a stretch big who gets it done on the defensive end.

With the injury to Josh Hart, Yabusele is next man up. I think Diawara leap frogs him though

What happens with Stretch provision when there's a player option remaining? That's the Avenue i would explore

No way. Next off season he is a expiring contract. Don't compound the problem. They can trade his deal easier when he is an expiring or just let him be on the bench. But it's critical Diawara takes over the role. Not the best Knicks contract but he isn't one or their larger contracts thank goodness

If Robinson is able to play the season out on the same pace (21 out of 30 games so far, say 60 games for the season), how much is he worth as a free agent? 20-30 million? Knicks can offer him more than anyone else as long as they are willing to go over the second apron and pay the tax. No way Knicks stay out of the second apron, next year- starters plus McBride and Kolek are already 197 million. At that point the 5 million+ owed Yabu is dead weight that has to get cut anyway. Just do it now and get a piece that can help.

Dude is over. Didn't even get into the last game with Hart out. Brown gives everyone working hard a chance, but not him anymore!

Yeah, troubling

He's still refusing to own up to showing up fat and out of shape. He's got way too many excuses to be likable. Get him da fook outa here. That we are playing a 20 y.o. over him should be a motivator to push the chair away from the table.
BlueKnickers @ 12/29/2025 7:57 PM
Looks like the Knicks moved him already.

Yabusele Lo Mein is now available as a new dish at Panda Express

Knixkik @ 1/16/2026 9:42 AM
How is he somehow getting worse? He doesn’t even look like an nba player. What happened to him ? He was supposed to be a depth difference maker. Can’t believe we let Achiuwa go (who left a lot on the plate but was always solid) for this guy.
martin @ 1/16/2026 10:06 AM
I have missed the scant Yabu minutes in these last games, cause I blinked or something.

When I read statements from the KFS guys online, they keep posting that Yabu doesn't seem to even remember the plays when he steps on court, amongst other things.

I don't read the game at that level and prob wouldn't be able to tell myself. Is this the general consensus? That besides being out of shape and generally lackluster, he can't even get to his spots or remember what they are?

nycericanguy @ 1/16/2026 10:09 AM
i think at this point, we just need to attach a 2nd rounder to him and at the very least get an expiring contract back. Otherwise he likely opts into $6m for next year, and that's money we could use toward resigning Mitch and staying below the 2nd apron.

the most obvious deal seems to be Yabu + 2nd for KLove.

I think the most obvious is Yabu and seconds for Nick Richards. Richards is expiring, he makes the same amount as Yabu, he gives good center insurance, and the Suns have no second round picks for the next many years, so they could use some. Plus they have a million centers and no PFs. Yabu might be able to get another shot there. And Richards is a CAA/ Kentucky guy so he is more likely to resign with the Knicks.
