Knicks · Giannis trade watch (page 11)

deuce plus more. F that I like the roster we have now.I agree with you.
Best situation for Knicks is for KAT to play smarter and realize his full potential and for Brunson to continue to be an average defender. Adding a third “lengthy” wing like Mikal and OG would be a real victory.
Toumani Camara is having a bit of an off year. Curious if there is a buy-low situation there.
Maybe bucks get desperate at the deadline and offer us Giannis for a more reasonable package.
As is, Towns could potentially be amazing completely, on a historical level in this offense. Giannis? More injury prone, relying more on athleticism...
I like how Towns has been playing recently, limiting the goofy fouls, not hooking that arm on his drives
Of course, the danger of my choice is that Giannis develops a better than average shot while Towns does not improve on silly fouls and verticality. I like my chances

Team is rolling right now. Hard to consider doing anything to mess it up. I also see growth from Towns. I could see more trajectory. Greatest concern shouldn’t be Giannis developing a ft shot. It should be him going to another contender in the east that can utilize him properly.
He’s not the right fit next to Brunson.
And KAT & Brunson don't fit together either, they have never developed a good two man game on offense, and defensively it's a nightmare covering for both on the floor.
We are playing well right now yes and that's hard to interrupt, but lets not stop that from looking at things truthfully.
These guys are what they are at this stage of their careers, and Giannis is simply a much better player on both ends.

I would do Towns and Deuce or Towns and Hart but the bucks want to rob us and make us trade them 2/3 of our roster.

Towns is definitely starting to settle in here nicely his second season. He’s also not as bad defensively as he is labeled as. People act like he’s Eddy Curry in the low post he’s not not even close. On offense he’s very difficult to stop most teams are built for 3 and D they don’t have low post defenders that can stop Towns in the paint

I would only do KAT and filler, we literally cant trade more than 2 for 1 anyway because of the 2nd apron rules.

We have all the leverage right now we are the best team in the East probably on the way to 55-60 wins. This isn’t 2010.

agreed, I think Giannis is the best two way player in the NBA, so you HAVE to look into it, but it has to be a deal that makes sense on our terms, and basically MIL doing right by Giannis and sending him where he wants to go after he got them a chip.

For 2 reason I'd think that this summer will be the timeframe for a trade, if at all. Probably.
1. Current crew is looking pretty good and you might as well go for this iteration, give or take.
2. Leverage and additional assets will be available this summer.
I think that makes sense.

so if that's the case, I don't know why Bucks wouldn't send him to anywhere they could get the best value without Giannis input.
Unless they do some weird Luka Doncic side deal with the NBA where they also get the #1 pick back

Giannis has been in MIL for 12-13 years and given them everything from an NBA chip to a CUP chip. I don't think they'd do him like that. I think there's certain players and situations where teams will do right by them in the end even if it means taking a bit less.
I mean if Brunson ever bought us a chip, and wanted to leave later on after 13 years, I doubt we'd send him somewhere he didn't want to go.
The other side is, if Giannis wants out of MIL, how much is another team willing to risk giving up if he doesn't want to be there either?
So it's a delicate balance, but a guy like Giannis after 13 years, I think MIL will do right by him. It's a unique situation, and MIL knows they can't compete so it's not like Giannis is being unreasonable if he wants out.

Absolutely. I was thinking OKC or Spurs. Perhaps not East coast or eastern conference, but I wonder if those types of teams would take a risk on him.
Bucks could kinda sorta fall back on the old "we sent you to a very good place" excuse.
This is entirely up to Giannis, not the Bucks
A healthy OG is probably better than Mikal in a vacuum, but OG runs hot and cold and isn't as reliable. Mikal plays every game, can do more offensively and has the NOVA connection.
Turner is a negative asset for MIL, but he would solve our C depth issue, while still giving us spacing. And we could go big with him at C, or small with Giannis at C.
I don't think salaries even match so we could also probably get Portis back as well for even more spacing/shooting/depth.
Maybe we could even flip Portis to MIN and bring back Donte.

if you trade Mikal instead I think it leaves us over reliant on OG.
The upgrade defensively from KAT to Giannis/Turner would offset losing OG.

Mikal, Giannis and Mitch with Turner coming off the bench is a great defensive front court. Probably best in the entire NBA.
Who starts at PF with OG gone? And lets not forget OG's intangibles. This is not plug and play anymore. Not a video game.

Turner
Giannis
Mikal
Deuce
Brunson
would naturally be the starting 5, Giannis has never played C FULL TIME. but it gives you the OPTION to go small at times with Giannis at C.
Mitch, Hart, Clarkson, Shamet, Kolek off the bench, all of a sudden one of the better benches in the NBA.
