Not to mention dominated and obliterated by Joel Embid.

Correct. He would work well next to an offensive minded PF, or to replace Mitch as defensive backup

Joel Embiid shot 44% from the floor and 33% from downtown. Only got 11rpg. While averaging 40mpg.
Knicks won 4-2.
iHart won the matchup with Big Mitch over Embiid.
It’s not on iHart to dominate an MVP caliber level player. But by all practical purposes, iHart won that battle all things considered. He did his job while Embiid did not.
Can’t see him having much trade value as a rental. No sane team picks up the team option on his contract next season. He will be a FA in the summer.
Embiid had a bad knee, bells palsy. Was wering a knee brace and could barley move. Miserable series for sure.
Joel was the beat player on the planet 24 months ago. Then he go hurt.
iHart plays about 25-27 minutes a game. It was great with him and Mitch splitting duties.

IHart was -50 for the series. Knicks get whooped without Mitchell, which is still mostly true.

That's not fair. The player iHart has become is better than the version in 2024. That's like bringing up Brunson's 2021 stretch in the playoffs with the Mavericks that Carlisle benched him in and then suggesting it has any baring on who Brunson is today. That aside, the iHart was injured (along with the rest of our rotation) and that Pacers team no longer exists to be a problem for him.
And are we going to pretend like KAT has been some beast of a player in the playoffs; game to game and series to series? Give me iHart over him any day especially with the financial savings that comes with the exchange.

Would KAT have fared any better against that version of Embiid? Should we concern ourselves with this one-legged version of Embiid, on a fringe playoff team moving forward? It just sounds like you don't like iHart, which is fine. But iHart is one hell of a basketball player and fit for our franchise. Bring him back.
Weird I was told IHart’s contract was the GOAT

You should never construct your club's starting C role around countering Embiid. You put big bodies on him like Mitch.
If you meet Embiid in the playoffs the odds are it will be in the first two rounds, because by the time the ECF rolls around he will usually be on the injured list.

Let's not also forget that postseason-Embiid is VERY different than regular season-Embiid. Dude has had spectacular flameouts when it mattered and I suspect him being permanently hampered physically will not help.
Who concerns me is Jokic, as it does with 29 other franchises. If healthy, that Nuggets team beats whatever version of the Thunder that shows up in the playoffs. I'm no KAT fan (obviously) but that potential match-up is the only reason I'd want him on the team. The best moments of KAT's career defensively came with him guarding Jokic, and Gobert providing weakside help in 2024. We can replicate that with Mitchell Robinson playing the Gobert role and KAT working Jokic hard on both sides of the floor. Things are so muddled in the league though. I think I much rather turn that KAT contract into iHart and some depth, then deal with whoever comes out of the East-Semis and then Western Conference Finals.
Deuce out 3rd straight game Sunday with ankle injury mgmt despite no apparent in game injury recently and trade deadline coming up.
Throw in Yalu being benched for Mo last game after getting some showcase minutes recently.
And given Deuce due extension and we still have Shamet/Clarkson —- could Deuce/Yabu be packaged for bigger wing scorer or maybe Deuce helps get us Missi/Alvarado or N Marshall type wing who can dribble/get in paint.

I consider the Nuggets the kind of team that would be a heavy favorite if their stars align and they make it to the finals simply because that means they have their calibrations worked out and they are clicking with Jokic as their super nucleus.
They won the championship last time without the best roster in the league, just the MVP whose superpowers makes everyone around him better.
If Jokic had a better team around him he'd win it all every year, he's that good.
It is not really possible to build for a future finals match-up, but should we get that far and meet the Nuggets we'd have to play the best man to man defense Denver has faced all season because Jokic picks teams apart if your coverage isn't as tight as a condom on John Holmes.
Deuce has a full year after this one.
At some point we either can't afford him or we blame the FO for trading him while we kept KAT whom we deem over paid.
We normalize winning even at this level forgetting what all had to happend to get here.
Many good things had to happen. That we got Randle at a discount, that he ascended to all star and all NBA. Took a discounted contract which proved proper given his "mental approach" was limited. We got DDV at a nice contract. We signed a journey man in ihart who had one great HALF season. All these guys were great values and we did really well with them. But decisons have to be made and risks taken. iHart at 18mm would have been fine but OKC had a unique situation and they played it really well! Fans then turn on FO for fucking it up! Blame.
Many had it that Randle could never have a good playoff as we assigned much on his shoulders. He had one bad series and the other he was hurt.
We turned all that into KAT, The bluest of blue chips who team blundered with Rudy to the point they had to shed salary. KAT last seaosn put up great numbers but we see him instead as someone who is preventing a championship? And if we could undue the trade how great that would be? But lets do it without all the details that really matter? Like resigning Randle? That iHart instead stayed? It did not happen. Deal with it folks, you can't undo some things without all of it.
That OKC is testing the market with Ihart has all to do with the business side. That contract vs. the notion they think they can win without him??
They being greedy? They have a very healthy Chet now which is very different than last year. Greed is good.
Reality.
OG Anunoby = OKC picks / Alex Caruso / Isaiah Hartenstein
Gross, right?

This not something you’d do unless we’re getting Giannis obviously. This is 1 phase of a multiple team deal without Portland’s help.
OKC seems to be open to retooling their roster and would jump at the chance to get OG. It’s rumored Hartenstein is available in the right deal.
NY would pick up either Caruso or Dort in this deal. Not sure if either player would affect the pick return. NY has shown serious interest in Caruso.
Brunson / Caruso / Bridges / Antetokounmpo / Hartenstein
This lineup provides NY with both defense and play-making at both the 2 and 5.
I believe iHart could coexist with Giannis much better than Mitch.
Adding Caruso + Hartenstein to the lineup and removing OG helps define Bridges role as the 3rd scoring option. With Caruso/Dort on point-of-attack he will be free to roam defensively.
ToddTT wrote:Mitch can help contain Embiid. He can also disappear against him. Like earlier this month.https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore/_/game...
He played excellent defense against Embiid in the playoffs I’m not going to go ballistic over 1 regular season game in which the entire roster was in a slump.

Not a bad thought but I was thinking Deuce plus KAT and change for Giannis then sign CP3 for rest of the season.
