Looks like we made an under the radar depth move or just doing a vet a favor.

I did not read where he been this season? Overseas?
Sports ILlustrated article not very detailed but brings up a point that perhaps a vet presence if Clarkson asks for a release before the March 1st deadline (playoff eligible). Sochan might be eating clarksons minutes?
I saw TJ play in person last season in the Gleague and he was a man among the boys. I think most fans were expecting him to get called up. Never happend.
Perhaps he is insurance if need be?

T.J. Warren returns to Knicks G League squad to continue pro career

Once a promising prospect for the Pacers who was riding high on season averages of 19.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.2 steals the year before a small left navicularstress fracture cut his season short in 2019-20, over the last five years, Warren has seen his stock plummet to rock bottom while bouncing around from team to team.

On top of this, he hasn’t appeared in a single NBA game since early April of 2024 during his brief stint with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Last season, the former lottery pick suited up for the Knicks developmental squad for 21 games, where he posted impressive averages of 22.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 steals, and just shy of a block while shooting 46.4 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from deep.

I couldn’t find anything about where he has been. I vaguely remember him but I think I am confusing him with PJ Tucker who we actually did sign about this time last year. I see that TJ played 36 games for Westchester in the G league. I don’t get it, maybe he never fully recovered from his foot injury in 2020?

TJ Warren Joins Knicks’ NBAGL Team, How Far Can He Climb?

On Monday, the Knicks’ official NBA G League affiliate –the Westchester Knicks –announced that they acquired Warren via returning rights. 32 years old, Warren last played for Westchester in 2024-25, appearing in 36 games. In the tip-off tournament, he posted 25.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, shooting 52.0% from the field. During the regular season, he averaged 22.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game, shooting 36.2% from 3.

Warren had long been considered as a skilled scorer with a defensive bent, especially after his nearly mythical performance in the NBA bubble. Consequently, those numbers matched his reputation. However, after undergoing surgery to repair a midfoot stress fracture in Dec. 2020, there were concerns about his immediate and long-term future.

Never a star, but had a few seasons avg 18-19 pts per game. made 58mm in his career.
Better than Malachai Flynn who did have a 50pt game.
TJ was a good player. Decent career.
