Who do you favor at this point at backup PG?
I’ll continue to favor Alvarado because he can at least get the ball up the court against pressure. Kolek gets bumped too easily and in the playoffs the defense really tightens up. At least Jose can get to his spots. Neither player can shoot right now which is frustrating.
I think it’s time to give Kolek some of Jose’s minutes… Kolek is a better distributor and is better at getting the offense flowing … another game where we lacked ball movement… we kinda suck away from home . This is a team we should have destroyed…
The lack of ball movement is our biggest concern and the fact that bridges has been extremely sporadic he’ll have a great game and then followed up with five or six duds to the point that we get concerned about him and then he’ll have another great game . I like Shamet but the fact he’s getting as many minutes as he is … is not a good sign.
Shamet is a 10 to 15 min top kinda player . Geat guy off the bench… not sure about as a full time closer .
As of now I think bridges is a great bench piece and my hope is that MO Diawara takes his spot in the starting line up sooner or later.
We might see bridges get benched during the playoffs, and moved in the offseason. He’s super talented, I think he falls asleep on offense because he’s really the 4th/5th option. If he came off the bench with more of a scoring mentality, I think we’d see a different and better bridges .

I'm doubtful any coach would sit Mikal before Josh Hart.

Nothing against Hart who is awesome, but as long as he’s hesitant to shoot, he’s the most replaceable in the starting lineup. Bridges is passive, but still one of the best corner shooters in the league. take away his expectations, and his skillset is still tailored made for a Brunson lineup. Diawara’s size, shooting and defensively versatility is the framework for what to replace Hart with in the lineup.
Kawhi really does have big hands.

He got pressured a few times and now he can't get the ball up the court. It is like a full-blown mythology now.
Kolek and Alvarado both have good and almost similar turnover to assist ratios. They can both get the ball across the half-court line.
The difference is the team has consistently played better when Kolek is the PG. While it is too early to write the book on Alvarado as a Knick, it is pretty clear that he is an inferior floor general and distributor to Kolek.
And Kolek is a better defender than some want to give him credit for though Alvarado is a better pickpocket and agitator on D in general.
And Kolek has a small advantage in 2 and 3 shooting % and much better shooting form that should see his % go up over time with more reps. Alvarado had that one big night and has been pretty bad from deep since then.

When the Knicks sputter on offense they are like another team. Brown needs to snap out of it and re-integrate Kolek into the rotation to stimulate the roster and get their juices flowing on offense when everything is stagnating.
The refusal to play Kolek is comically bad at this point. I think Brown is a pretty good coach, but Alvarado is a spark plug of a different kind and should be utilized that way. Both him and Kolek can serve their functions and inject their version of fresh air into the lineup if subbed in more astutely.

1 million trillion percent !! I couldn’t agree more with this statement it’s time to give Kolek his backup gig again … Kolek helps players like bridges and towns having Kolek out there allows Brunson to play the scoring guard as well which we all know he thrives in .
After watching both play in my opinion Kolek offers more than Jose
Would like to see Kolek dishing to Mo and Mitch out there together… Mo can really handle the rock and pass as well as hit his open shots .
We literally got Jose for peanuts for a reason he’s a good spark plug when he’s on, I love Jose’s tenacious help defense, and he has a knack for stealing the ball at the perfect time .
The man has also put up some duds and again you can see why we got him for peanuts…
Kolek has the potential to swing the game in our favor by getting everyone involved and moving . He is an absolute wizard playing quarterback and setting up his teammates for easy shots. Kolek by all means deserves minutes off the bench. In the game against Denver in garbage time what did Kolek have 8 assist in 9 minutes!!!
If anybody on this forum can speak to Mike Brown please let him know us the fans want Kolek to get his minutes back, not because he’s a fan favorite, but because he deserves his minutes.
