Being down 10-20 in the second half and storming back to win a nailbiter is not the same as what we’re seeing now. Run that Detroit series back 10x we probably lose 8 or 9. That wasn’t stuff of a serious contender. It was fun and exhilarating though.
Yes, so far this is entirely diffent.
It looks probable we have to get past DET and either SA or OKC after that.
If we play with this discipline against them anything is possible now.
There was no way you could say that about last year's team.

Last year's run though was a great experience for our team.

The Sixers have zero chemistry and SVG (who has the curse of thinking himself funny) admitted as much by repeatedly saying the Sixers had to have maxey or embiid effectively go iso to the hoop. No action, no passing, and no answers how to stop the Knicks
Thibs never played anyone 38mpg while he was here. But PHI looks tired because Embiid is done, PG is old and washed, and they have no bench. I dont think it has anything to do with MPG. We had a young team with Thibs and we did not look tired last playoffs.
We had a great run last year and should have made the finals, but Thibs never had this sort of depth. We made that KAT trade knowing it was going to deplete us and that we'd need an offseason to really replenish the bench and we did. Brown came into a great situation.
Thibs never had a bench his final season but the claim isn’t totally meritless. Brown certainly managed minutes more cautiously than Thibs ever really did bench or not. Also Josh did play 37.5 mpg. But even if we totally discredit that argument, the anti Thibs argument is being proven not through the bench but through the play. The optimization of Towns as a hub, Brunson’s iso usage is down yet his production is still elite, the wing production on a nightly basis, and more than anything, the defensive scheming to hide the deficiencies of Towns and Brunson. Mike Brown’s defensive coaching has been absolutely elite during these playoffs. Maxey has been rendered a complete non factor. Truly amazing stuff.
Brown has managed Mitch preemptively. Not sure Thibs did. Come playoff time he definitely rode the started hard. I remember one sequence where Hart seemed to be playing close to every minute. And the reality is guys broke down, Mitch, OG, even Brunson was majorly dinged. And Hart for sure but he'd go out there with rib protection before he asked for a breather. The only thing I ever heard being attributed to Mikal was a concern over minutes -- and this came from the current NBA iron man.
And of course it's a concern when it leaded to injuries of whatever sort, but that's not the only one. Guys are not as alert, and not at 100% and on tight games you only need one fumbled possession.
I don't have the stats in front of me but I have to imagine Maxey is playing Hart-like minutes (from prior 2 playoff years).
And for the record Thibs did have a bench. Shamet, Mitch, Achiuwa, Mcbride, Kolek.
All that said, Thibs had his way, and he enjoyed a certain amount of success with it. You can't really tell him, do this or do that and expect it just to work, just the same way you can't take a great French chef and put him in an Italian restaurant and expect better Italian food.
Thibs was definitely set in his ways, no doubt. Brown is more of the opposite. He's far more willing to experiment in major ways. Sometimes it works out beautifully (e..g., Towns running the offense out of the high post) and sometimes it's frustrating.

And I'll add frustrating. I was saying last year the same thing I said this year. It makes no sense to play into the opponents strength. Having Brunson bring the ball up against Detroit or Pacers made zero sense. They had their best defender on Brunson for roughly 90 feet, essentially cutting way into our shot clock, plus no sense of fluidity. Towns was an after thought. Guys need to touch the ball

I gotta say - the Knicks fans did a phenomenal job of making me fucking LOATHE them tonight.
Detroit better wipe the floor with these smug dirty players and shut up these obnoxious NY fans
Anyone else find it wild that the Sixers arena was playing "Party Rock" and dance music when we were down 15, just leading to more humiliation?
Been a diehard Sixers fan since the 90s and I can't remember ever being so embarrassed, This is beyond parody. Down 0-3 to the Knicks, their fans invading our arena, Robinson dunking on Joel, McCain going off in OKC when our bench is a huge problem... it's like I'm literally sitting on a chair in the corner of the room watching my girl get pounded. That's what this feels like.
I’m tired of seeing Embiid sprawled all over the court during almost every play.
fuck timothee chalamet
I came am in thinking maxey was def better than Brunson and went out thinking the exact opposite lol
Embiid’s playoff legacy is seriously gonna be that one year he beat the Celtics in the first round.
Maybe you should post, "Cry it all out; it will make you feel better". I'm sure they'll appreciate the sentiment.

Yes, championships are the result of multiple attempts to get there
if you rewatch Mitch's dunk you'll see how dirty Embiid is. He was not being folded forward because of Mitch's momentum. Instead he was purposefully leaning back to try and take his feet out
Same dirty shit on Towns where they both felt to the floor out of bounds under the basket. Embiid was definitely looking to land on Towns on that one and I suspect get a knee into the privates. Guy has a mental problem.

If it becomes an issue again in the next series you have bring up the ball by committee sometimes.
When you have to stagger guys at 3/4 and 1/2 court to pass it forward then your half-court offense needs solid execution to thrive.
Those same guys who would be staggered upcourt for ball advancement often results in at least one Knick near half-court monitoring the offensive boarding to see if they should break upcourt for an outlet pass instead of coming to meet the ball. Typical recipients of these outlets are OG or Bridges.
The key is using teamwork to break full court pressure and then run your plays from the top of the key.
When the opposition fires and misses, push upcourt ASAP before they can apply pressure and you'll still get some fast break buckets.
TLDR: Advance the ball by committee when meeting pressure and push the ball upcourt ASAP under all circumstances to have more time on the clock.

It's what Embiid does every time he throws himself to the floor. You can see him calculating precisely where he's going to land. I hope he breaks his hip.
Adam Silver won't say anything to Embiid for fear that Embiid will fall on him.
Shamet made himself a lot of money last night.
Where is the game thread, you slackers?
Today's secondary goal is complete humiliation of the Sixers, their fans, and their city.
Always Knicks!!!
