I rather it be last year and we didn’t have first round pick so we didn’t have to deal with this crap.
It’s not the same NBA. The aprons are really changing the strategy and in our case, that strategy is to give yourself a chance to bring the championship team back.
Yeah, looks like their trying but I think Robinson going to get paid

I don’t think Robinson is getting paid after all those miss free throws can’t have him as a starter.Even if Robinson was leaving there were few replacements in the draft that dropped cenac and reed. I honestly think the Knicks panicked when Zuby went to the hawks then they did all these wacky moves because apron.

Mitch did limit his earning potential by not hitting his free throws. Hack-a-Mitch was a strategy that at times did disrupt our flow and it will be used against any team Mitch is on in the future. When that limits his time + load management issues, any team is going to question the value proposition and lower the offer accordingly.
The Knicks probably told Mitch's agent to see what's out there so they would get that reality first check so Mitch doesn't feel the Knicks are giving him chump change if they do then sign him for less than he was hoping for.
Unless we are getting a #1 pick for the 31st pick I don't understand the reasoning as to why trade the pick???
Its all about signing Mitch. Not having 1st round contract this upcoming season helps a lot. Brock Aller is doing money ball shit. Can't complain with the results.
Sounds like we will trade out of 31 too but I thought 2nd rounders don’t count towards the cap or something?
LivingLegend wrote:jamp wrote:fitzfarm wrote:Why would we move out of 31 now that we are in the second round we can pay these guys a bag of peanuts
For more assets. If someone gets injured during the season or we need someone we have something to trade.
Wonder if Deuce, #31, #47 + a few future 2nds could net us a legit Mitch replacement like say E Missi or something else?
I prefer Mitch but that would be a nice consolation prize
I’m as bummed as anyone not because the moves are dumb (they’re not) but because shiny new draft picks are exciting
That said if it helps them keep Mitch and the gang together it’s a win. Our chemistry is our superpower. Those picks are currency. Two seconds can get you an obbi toppin. I suspect they’ll be useful if we need to tweak lineup with a more known commodity. Deferred gratification stinks in near term but you’re glad you did it in longer term.
31 should absolutely net a first or we should keep it. Hope we play hardball there

Maybe its an offer “too good not to take”.
How do we really feel about the bench? Because I understand that we need another center. At the same time, Huk wasn’t bad on his minutes and we thought at some point we thought he had potential. I’d get a center in the second round but only if it’s a true prospect.
The PG remains the hot spot. Is Kolek ready? Even if Alvarado is back, I think that we need a combo guard that can truly play PG, not a combo guard like Deuce. I know there are 2 or 3 first round talents to be picked, but do we really need them? I see the forward spots well covered with OG, Hart and Mo. C depends on Mitch, but I still hoped for another C. It’s G where I see we could improve with a big PG but that would mean someone is not coming back. Is McCullar a true option to take a next step and get one of the true guard spots in the rotation?

They do count. You can sign them to a second round exception which only starts at about 1.5M I believe, but the player will have to agree to that contract too.
I don’t think Alvarado delayed his decision to not come back. I feel he’s kind of a lock but that’s just me. I assume he opts in.
I just hope that whoever can take a pay cut to keep the team together does it. I’m very excited about running it back as much as we can but also benefiting from improved play from the youngsters Kolek, McCullar, Mo and Huk. Do we keep and include Sochan to the young crew? They seemed committed to developing him but I don’t know how possible is that.
You guys get so made after each draft.......
I know you put work into it but then get "Brock'd"!
"fuck them picks".........if you want more, gotta replenish the stock pile.
Maybe Dadiet at 6-8 and can shoot is in the plans long term? Maybe the great Walt Perrin was not as enthusiastic for prospects as he is for this kid?
Love McCuller? Well maybe he sticks.
"Kolek Fever"......You loved him in year two, you might see him in year three?
Mo........Our bonafide legit prospect of some measure.
Socahan? Doubt he's back, but the kid might be our backup 4 project?
No Draft pick was going to fill in for the back up 5 if mitch bolts.
Zuby might have been a good one. But where does he fit?
Knick players deserve to run it back for at least a victory lap.

Not sure any of this mattered. Think the simple reason for opting out of the draft was to stay out of the Second apron.
I hated the draft so much. Probably the most I ever hated it
But I mean I give Aller a ton of credit for our playoff rotation… there’s proof the strategy is good…
So I’ll just STFU - cold day in hell

Yes. But if it all does not matter why are we here? LOL.......
What is the financial advantage of trading the #31 pick but drafting at #48?
BigRedDog wrote:What is the financial advantage of trading the #31 pick but drafting at #48?
None, but you obviously get the extras. It’s the type of deal you sign the second rounder to

Was hoping we pulled off No. 24 for Giannis.
Thinking that if there was someone worthwhile to pick Rose would have done it. Which would have probably kissed both Shamet and MR goodbye. As well as Deuce’s extension.
Agree with you that we already have picks to develop. Why add more.
