It was challanged right? First called on Wemby. Then it was reversed. Hell of a challange.

I meant the first foul called on Towns (the defensive one). Sorry, I could have been clearer.

No worries. I'd have to look at it again. The second one I thought was gratuitous and as said created the situation were challanged caused the reversal. By then I was out of my mind now thinking of writing my congressman and making protest signs!

As most know I repel the notion of conspiraccy as first tilt when presented with an ilogical circumstance. Not to say its not a thought.

at this point I don't think anyone would accept an internal investigation by the NBA as unbiased.

Our Congress is too busy with insider stock trading, covering up the Epstein files and protecting Trump’s illegal war with Iran. They are too busy to hold a hearing on crooked NBA officiating. I don’t know what government agency could do anything about this. The DOJ DOGE’d many of its most experienced people and is now a rudderless sh tshow and the AG is doing nothing full time except covering up the Epstein Files. The FBI is also a crapshow under Patel who is too drunk and hungover to care that the refs are favoring the spurs.

Leaving the politics out of it, don’t you remember MLB and steroid congressional? FTC would be an option. Honest question do the gambling platforms allow bets on WWE? If not, I’d be curious if there’s a legal reason for that

Full disclosure: I would prefer to think congress has better things to do with its time

In a world were we have politicized Medicine, science and pedophillia, any call for gov't intervention regarding "investigation" does become a political subject.

It was a really smart challenge by The Spurs, requiring us to get Towns out of the game straight away. Almost certainly pre-planned, given that Towns does have a tendency to hook (and that SA want him out of their way).

If I was Brown, the only advice I would give to Towns for the next game is don't even try to hook anyone. You're too important, and they want to get you out of the game.

Wemby will most likely inevitably develop into an unstoppable force with unguardable turn around jumpers etc etc.

What will hold him back(outside of inj) is he is clearly mentally immature. NBA coddling him will only turn that into a bigger issue for the long term. They should be forcing him to mature and develop his game into a player cappable of truly being the face of the league first.

As it stands now their face of the league is being exposed as a dirty, immature, arrogant prick. Which in turn isn't a good look for the NBA brand.

Wemby is the most physically gifted big man since Wilt the stilt. Maybe the most physically and talented player since MJ. League knows that if he stays healthy he may be one of the best of all time. He will probably be the face of the NBA for years to come.
You can add that the league wants a game 7 and come up with several obstacles you have to climb. But it’s nothing other NBA finals teams have not faced in the past.

So let’s stop all this BS about refs, league and preferential treatment for Wemby. It’s all a bunch of excuses losers focus on.
At the end of the day, we were up 7 starting the 3rd quarter. Knicks had an opportunity to execute and go on a run that would essentially guarantee a championship. They didn’t. Threw the ball around and did not score in 4 minutes. Focus should be, and I trust it will be with this team, not on BS like Wemby or Refs but on what they need to do better. Which includes better execution, shot making and playing connected defense. Fuck all the other noise.

Confident they will tonight!!
I see a big win and taking control of the series.

Huh? He's only considered a Big man because of his height. Shaq/Jokic etc say hello. Then you go on and add MJ in the mix? LeBron/Kyrie/Kobe/Carter/Griffin etc etc all say hello. Wemby is tall and can play like a guard. He is freakish in that sense but, he is not the most physically gifted player since Wilt/MJ IMO. He is barely bigger than Chet Holmgren. Teams will figure him out and he will probably begin to battle injuries when they start putting big physical bodies on him every night. Flash in the pan like KP was is a very real possibility.

The refs have absolutely impacted these games. It's been as bad as it gets. Not BS at all. Even in the history making game 4 we were sandbagged in the first half. Amazing what a difference the second half was when the whistle wasn't going in the Spurs favor. Anyone who has watched this sport can see how terrible and biased the officiating has been. It is worse today than it has ever been. I truly hope we can finish this run because, I won't be watching this fraud show with as much energy and passion moving forward. I just want one chip before I go.

The steroids hearings were like most things with congress, a fake show trying to make citizens believe they actually care about something they do. But at the end of the day, once the TV show is over, no one cares about what they just made a short speech about.

Think refs will always be influenced by things like a home court crowd, annoying players and yes, keeping the guys that pay their salaries happy when a series goes 7.
Can anyone really say despite that they would have missed Wednesday’s game?
Or stop watching a sport because of the fact it’s tough for a team to sweep a series due to refs possible unfairness? Also, not sure we can complain about anything after winning 13 out of 14 games in the playoffs.

I will certainly watch with less passion than I have for the last 40+ years. This garbage is getting impossible to enjoy. We won 13 in a row and officiating in the last two wins was atrocious. We won in spite of that. The game 3 loss was disgusting officiating and they almost did it again in game four during the first half. They let us play in the second half and we made the largest comeback in the history of the NBA finals. Almost as if someone made a call to tell them it was too obvious at that point. Who knows?

It's becoming a terrible product IMO. The only interest I have left is watching my Knicks close out this series. I certainly won't be into spending a small fortune going to games in the future. I will probably always watch on some level because it's entertainment but, I grew up and stopped watching wrestling. Scripted male soap opera. That's what the NBA is becoming. See Danhausen.

In no way does “physically and talented” translate to better than. Shaq was huge. Physically bigger but could not shoot a free throw. However by no means a lesser player than Wemby. Results mean everything and Shaq was one of the best to suit up. Everyone else you mentioned was not 7’4. Wemby is a freak physically. Anyone saying is one of the biggest physical freaks with incredible levels of talent to shoot the ball and exceptional mobility is not being honest.
But again, that has a long course to run before we say he is better than any top 200 NBA player.

In terms of refs, think I have exhausted the subject. As a former player, I will never put decent weight on officiating on why you lost a game. Would rather focus on effort and execution. But that is because the goal was to win the game by focusing on fundamentals you can improve in the next quarter and not complain about the last. But do understand that as fans, we can’t do that and have forces on things like the refs.

"Who knows?"
So it must be a fix?
I think in the 40 years you been a fan of NBA not much has changed. PJ Brown Midget tossing of Charlie Ward and the ensuing brawl was grossly unfair, but have knick ever been on the receiving end of this?
Other teams?
I don't watch a lot outside of knicks.
I was disgusted and anger by the 1st half!
Without do we get this historical game? IN the history of sports, are there not controversial calls/games in the major sport that one naturally tilts to "its a fix!".......
In the NBA you'd have to have consent of all 30 owners for this. They own the league. Not Silver, not crooked ass refs.
You think it would be ok for team owners, and many have multiple investors to be victimized by this? That they have invested hundreds of milions in salary to shelve their competitive spirit for a ratings boost and perhaps change the momentum of a series?
That the players or coaches would not be in on it and noboday says shit but a convicted felon ref?

Yes, I do believe they do meet and they do discuss how to call a game.

Im not denying it, I just have no proof or substance to for sure call it out.
As I age I do find less emotional attachement to all of this and don't get worked up as I once did.

Danhausen? All I know he is a wrestler with Kiss make up and only from his knicks thing. I guess learning wrestling is fake was like finding so was Santa?

Your perogative to step back if you must. We'll miss you. Lets hope you can go out on top with a knick win!

That's why I named all of those players. They were freakishly gifted and talented both physically and skill wise for their height.

It's another KP IMO. Improved/better version if you ill. KP didn't have the health. Wemby hasn't been around long enough to crown him anything yet. So far so very very good though.

As for the refs, what does being a player have to do with it? You think we want the players using it as an excuse? It doesn't change the fact that it has been absolutely disgusting officiating. I want the players doing something about the physicality of the game. Like Big Mitch and the forearm shiver he put on Wemby.

Whatever. I hate watching Draft Kings ball. Win this chip and I can relax.

We disagree. Shaq was huge and strong. Wilt was huge and can move and was faster than most men half his height. Jokic has the lateral movement of a school bus. Both will be in the HOF. A big man is the term used for PFs and Centers in the NBA since its inception. But we both have our opinions. Fair game. Agree and mentioned in my post he can be another KP.

Every fan whose team has lost a game has pointed to “disgusting” officiating. Player or fan it’s just a matter of what one chooses to complain about. I am a fan of the X’s and O’s. As mentioned, was taught to focus on more important things than a bad call. Aka a players perspective.
Missed calls are absolutely frustrating at the time but if you have watched any highly competitive game, there are always several of them for each team.

Nalod @ 6/12/2026 2:03 PM
Can't really label Wemby in the incubation period of his career. His physical maturity is mostly being kept at a reasonable pace as not to injure him. Too many prior "Unicorns" have come and gone due to injury. Larue Martin? Sam Bowie? Ralph Sampson? Bill Walton? Yao Ming? Greg Oden? KP?....Thats just off the top of my head. Big men who due to injury did not fulfill the potential.

I agree what makes him potentiall special is the height. The talent is there as is the fundamentals. He is super skinny still. by This age Kareem had a much better fluid game and stature. This kid is working hard and has some great fundamentals down.

No way we can label anyitng for a few years. End of the day he is leading this team and in the finals!!!! That in itself is an accomplishment. He is not the finished product. We might not ever see that if he has injuries so no guarantee of anything.

I can also imagine that draft kings etc in its own self interest could commission an anonymous report from former refs to do something like the L2M but for the full 48 minutes and unlike the L2M (biggest flaw in my opinion) review it in terms of whether the whistle was consistent as opposed to whether a call is technically defensible under the rule book (because under this standard any but the most egregious flubs can be Called a foul but we often complain when there's a touch foul on one end and a non call on the other)

at this point I don't think anyone would accept an internal investigation by the NBA as unbiased.

All I know is they didn't call it the same in the second half. Who knows why?

The Knicks HISTORICALLY get the worst whistle and it's not even close.

Now the league props up star players and small market teams to the detriment of the product. No one wants to watch SGA/OKC anymore. It's fraud. It's a poor product. No one wants to watch Embiitch try and hurt their team anymore either while he flops around like a fish. People got sick of Harden years ago that they made a flopping rule and since, have refused to enforce it. It doesn't have to be about fixing games for gambling but, the two go hand in hand.

For whatever reason...IOW....WHO KNOWS...the league has been allowing the officiating to get worse while protecting the refs from any and ALL criticism. It's like the WWF...see Danhausen.

I will absolutely take a step back because it's a bad look and it needs to be addressed more than tanking does. Expansion is absolutely the worst idea for the league as well but, two more teams incoming to water down the rest of the league. With terrible officiating and meaningless in season tournaments, as well as a dying all-star weekend, I am not going to have the same drive. That's why I want to win one on the way out.

I will watch but, I won't care anymore. As long as we can seal 5e deal this year I will be glad to watch from a distance. Unless they address things and hold refs accountable.

The question I have is why are they forcing his anointing? Jordan at least had to take his lumps for years before getting to that level. And he was more developed as a pure basketball player as a rookie than Wemby is at 22.

He is not the most physically gifted big man since Wilt IMO. Shaq and Jokic are what I consider big men. Freakishly tall forward/guard is more like it. He is just really tall and it's amazing how he combines height with things guards and small forwards do but, other than being tall he isn't the most gifted/talented there either.

There is no denying the officiating has been atrocious the entire series. Even in games we have won. Acting like I'm complaining for losing is just wrong and insulting. Anyone with eyes can see the calls/no calls that happen right in front of the refs. It's trash to watch. The two BS calls on Towns 90 seconds into the game? Garbage. Both calls. Why? Because they aren't calling it both ways like that and everyone can see it.

We need to win 5 vs 8 and walk away with that trophy.

grillco @ 6/12/2026 3:29 PM
The calls actually got worse and more obviously against the Knicks at MSG. Their only home court advantage was the crowd and the refs silenced them for the better part of three quarters.

The game has definitely changed and so has the officiating. The defensive game of the ‘90s is loooonnnnnngggggggg gone. If a team played like the ‘90s Knicks today everyone would foul out within a half. Wemby is also being given a star treatment (which I always hated) that he’s yet to have earned. And it’s worse than I’ve ever seen because it’s turning a blind eye to his aggressive and dangerous game. Let’s say he lands that attempt to mess up OG’s leg, does the league flat out ignore it then? Would there be any repercussions beyond and flagrant two ejection?

If this is the new std of officiating, of course they’d debut and feature it against the Knicks. I can’t imagine finding much joy in the game going forward. It reminds of the adage about journalism, that the journalist should never be a part of the story, be it directly or indirectly. Same with officiating. If we’re talking about it this much, there’s obviously a problem with execution. They are impacting the game instead of calling the game.

Nalod @ 6/12/2026 3:43 PM
Your kind of into the "good old days"........
All star weekend dying? Lots of reasons for that.
In season tournaments, and play in.......KInd of works. not for you. Not for me, but viewership.
Not about cable, it about streaming.
League had 30 years to absorb watered down talent from expansion.. The last 8 MVP's? Non americans. The game has grown over the years and more players from overseasons filled in the talent.
Valuations are still booming. Revenue is booming.
The game has evolved. Perhaps not to your liking.
They are growing to a younger base. They spend more money from advertising. Legal gambling ruining things? Greed? Maybe to some of us older fans. Not to millions who are engages with NBA and NFL in that manner. Not me. But im not grumpy about it.

Maybe take step back: The "Atrocities" you speak of did create the drama for the greatest potential Knick moment. The irony I hope is not lost on you.

Me? Im not as intense on sports but thats a function of a lot of things. I cannot tell you any players on many MLB baseball teams let alone even recognize so many of its best players! They don't have candy bars named from players. For that matter, who eats candy bars anymore? Steroids was kind of fun......until it was not. The point is the culture of sport has changed over the decades as has the availablity of viewership. I can watch any NBA game for less than $125 a year. Its why many don't care about allstar games as they did years and years ago when it was special. NFL? Do they play defense anymore? No more running backs? Fewer stars? Fewer characters? Games are exciting, not the players.

YOunger people watch games different, they like scoring, they like the faster pace.
I can chose to like it, or leave it. I get where your coming from.

I just watched the greatest game in my 50+ years. The whole sporting world is throwing flowers at knicks and what they did.
ANd your "fed up"? Write your manifesto and out. Hey, its your perogative.
Enjoy the Chip if its meant to be, drop the mike and walk out the door! Leave at the top. If your gonna go, thats the way to do it!

That was 20 years ago and a completely different Congress. Steroids being an illegal drug was also a big deal for the law and order crowd. Meanwhile gambling is all but required now.

I think maybe 70% of the content I get now on YouTube is ads for online gambling sites. Make it legendary.

Those hearings were a dog and pony show. The Mitchell report came out of it I suppose but that was just a hit job on the Yankees by a former senator who used to be a part owner of the Red Sox. Probably the easiest investigation ever since baseball players were paying for steroids with checks.

TripleThreat @ 6/14/2026 12:23 AM
Refs did everything possible to try to horse f**k this Knicks team all series long.

This Game 5, Town and quite a bit of Anonuby were neutralized with major foul trouble. The refs wanted KAT out of the game, the only way to do it was to job him on calls to try to get him fouled out. The Knicks bench only scored 9 points tonight, but the Spurs were allowed to manhandle the 3rd Tier Knicks units at will. Brunson had to carry this team on his back with 45 points.

IMHO, the calculation had to be made. Adam Silver had no real practical way to hide another Wemby flagrant, which would mean a suspension for Game 6. Since David Stern hated Dolan and hated the Knicks with the fury of a million supernovas, there was no way Silver was going to let the Knicks win a championship at MSG. Very likely the call was made to Scott Foster to let the Knicks play the 4th quarter straight up, for the most part.

What was the X Factor here, IMHO? Mitch Johnson wants to be like Steve Kerr and Gregg Poppovich, overrated coaches who held their jobs so long because the superstar players were comfortable with them and didn't want the disruption of change. Mitch Johnson put out the lineup that Wemby wanted, because like all superstar franchise players, you can run the team if you want. You can decide who plays, who gets signed, who gets traded, who gets re-signed and who gets robbed of minutes and opportunity. Mitch Johnson was thinking about the next ten years of his coaching career, not just this series. Doing what Wemby wants is more important for his perceived job security than just doing the common sense thing to win actual games ( i.e. cutting Fox's minutes some and deploying the bench some more)

I generally do not complain about officiating that much, but the Knicks won this series going 5 on 8, night after night.

F**k the NBA and it's demand for it's "narrative" F**k that crybaby Wemby. F**k Adam Silver for enabling this cheating bull sh*t.

Our beloved Knicks prevailed even against all this cheating.

You hear that Briggs? Our boys still smoked these jack offs even at a clear open disadvantage. It's a testament to this teams' resilience that they wrote their own destiny against all odds.
