Knicks are skirting the borders - 57mm, 42.5mm, 37.5mm, 33.5mm and 21mm in their starting lineup with two All NBA players and three elite “role players”. Their starting 5 was pretty dominant and even forcing their weakest offensive link to shoot still resulted in a plus TS% shot attempt.

Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully the Knicks and KAT/Brunson fully adjust. Holy cow these numbers are straight insane

Feel like Spida is a weaker version of Jaylen Brown, his playoff numbers absolutely suck

https://www.basketball-reference.com/pla...

I have him as a more athletic but less skilled version of Brunson that plays worse defense, won’t take a charge and doesn’t have the killer instinct to win.

As a Knicks fan, you absolutely need to be more critical of Spida, that's light sauce

I would, but I like Spida.

If I liked Spida (I admit I kinda sorta do and kinda sorta don't) this would flip me to the "I no longer like him" side. Way too selfish. I mean seriously it's like "I get all the money". You fans accept mediocre results.

If we haven't started yet we should be building statues for Brunson and anyone else who was smart enough to know that they'll still be rich AF if they accept less, but they'll have trophies, memories, and experiences that money can't buy.

Everywhere Walt Frazier goes he is treated like royalty. He has made a good living, enough to have a place in islands and to afford all of those suits.

If you asked him now would he trade his two rings for an extra $100 million in the bank?

Brunson has gotten everything he ever wanted through hard work and he'll be rolling in dough forever wherever the decimal point lands.

I'll never forget listening to Lebron talk about becoming the first billionaire athlete. I remember thinking: IDGAF about this guy whatsoever. Whereas a guy like Magic built so many businesses post-career and after surviving AIDS and he seems like a cool cat as a billionaire. He earned $40M in the NBA. He made the rest later.

My guess is Clyde has made more broadcasting then playing.
Clyde never had to take a pay cut, but he was UNSELFISH playing with Earl and that helped get the second ring.
Clyde was there in the era of Seaver, Namath, and of course Willis. Winning matters!
As for Spida? Lebron? Magic?
Lets not judge Lebron as he is very quiet in his philanthropia and perhaps what a 20 year old says about being a billionaire is not teh same as a 42 year.
Jordan was all about winning right? No bigger sociopath winner in my book. Yet as a team owner he sucked. We don't know.
But do we fault him for his incredible wealth?
Magic? No doubt impressive resume after his playing days over. What drives him? Greed?
Lets not judge Spida and also his contract is not really in the way of winning is it?
Maybe we judge not the money but what it can do and perhaps its not about yachts or jets, but feeding people and funding educations, hospitals and schools.
Lebron, Jordan, and I gather Magic all have done some really good things off the court.
Guys like Mutumbo are inspirational and maybe some are more about what the money can do for others?

And yes, Jalen is in the Royalty and will also earn his bag at some point and we'll not be able to field a team as we just did.
Thats ok, its in the books!

Let’s go get him if we can it sounds like the mavs are going to just let him walk or hope no one offers him anything .

Offer him a 2 year minimum deal. See if they match.

I don’t think it’ll be that easy, they won’t let him walk. But they have too many bigs and we might be able to work something out with them

Cisse is definitely worth a phone call.

The other very intriguing option to me is Mo Bamba. Has never been able to tap into his potential. Was on dreadful teams. Has all the potential in the world, the issue has been his mindset and low motor .

If we can get him to be fully engaged (no one has) the guy is a monster. Has hands, protects the rim can be a monster on the boards . Can stretch the floor, why has this guy not been able to carve out a role . He played well in the g league last year.

He’s only 28 yo

I thought he was going to be a star coming out of college .

Maybe coming home and playing for a contender would light a fire under him. If we got him to go all out for 10 to 15 min a game. I don’t think there’s a better option especially when we are talking about getting him on a two way deal.

Unless there’s something about him that we don’t know. Like that he’s a bad locker room guy or a bad person. No one else we are mentioning has his physical stature.

Why is he not an nba player ?

Asked and answered in the same post, a most excellent response.

Am I the only one who sees the potential still… is there anyway we can get him to put basketball at the top of that list lol ?

Out of all the vet min guys he has the most skill and is in his prime years . JV was just released but I feel it’s just a sideways move to Drummond… I like Drummond for rebounds and that corner 3 but how about a young athletic freak who can play great defense if motivated .

Succeeding in the NBA is 75% mindset, 25% ability.

Exhibit A: Jalen Brunson

If Bamba is more interested in the fabric swatches arriving by Fed Ex than in running dribbling drills then it is better he stay at home.

So true. I gotta get off the hope pipe lol. There’s going to be moments next year where we are going to miss Mitch.

I could also see Boston fans being ungrateful pricks to him. Maybe it’s all part of the bigger plan Mitch parties in beantown purposely plays like trash ft shooting gets even worse (if possible) and they release him and we resign him to a minimum next year while the C’s have to pay him his bag lol the ultimate revenge .

@fitzfarm- There is yruth there. One thing that I'll always remember was the 22 Finals when GSW was winning in Boston and the home crowd started booing the Celtics. Booing your home team in the Finals, smh. One of the biggest reason they had to trade Brown was the backlash he got from fans for saying this was his favorite season. Mitch will miss four free throws and then everyone will start screaming at the front office that they got burned. Worst fanbase in sports.

It is hard to know how it will be for Mitch, but NYC can absorb any personality into its mix.

If he has health or personal issues or struggles on the court, it is a less forgiving place for a rural southern fella like Mitch. Fans are rabid in a good way, but when they are bad the racist ones there seem to come out of the weeds. Philly is weird too and some of those elements are lurking in that fan base as well. New Yorkers generally DGAF about where you come from as long as you give it your best effort, win or lose. Mitch is such a country boy, I always felt he would be safest staying with the team he grew up on. Wish him well

Wait, I thought he only hated Knicks?

Actually this trade kind of solves the issues in part. If I had to guess, Silver gets a path to not totally destroy Clippers for fucking up.
I'd expect a reasonable suspension of sorts of Leonard that perhaps claws back some of the payments he was given that is under dispute. Clippers should be hit with a sizable fine and perhaps a future draft pick or two? Nobody will be happy as it won't be punitive enough for media. Seems NBA rarely throws the book at its owners except for Sarver and Sterling.
Not like the Clippers won a chip with a "Ineligible" player of sorts.

Good recap of the NBA FA landscape.

I don't follow the Denver team to have a good sense of their team but Leon and the Knicks seem like genius cap and roster management types compared to Nugget's front office. Time will tell. $200M seems like a lot of money in tax to me.

The Nuggets are over the luxury tax and first apron and are $7.4 million below the second apron.

Because they are projected to be in the luxury tax for a fourth time in five seasons, they are considered a repeater tax team and will pay a higher penalty.

Even with waiving-and-stretching the $2 million salary owed to Jonas Valanciunas over the next three seasons, Denver's tax bill could stand at nearly $200 million. This takes into account Watson's starting salary around $25 million and veterans exceptions for the remaining roster spots.

Thunder have to have as much, or more, pressure on them vs. any other team in the league.

In one year, they'll have $150M tied up in their big 3, plus another $45M in IHart/Caruso, not to mention Cason Wallace being up for extension. You can continue auctioning off guys and hope some of their plethora of picks can maintain their championship pedigree at minimum cost, but breaking up that team for finances is definitely jarring.

Yeah, they got a Championship already, but the way the league has prepared for their dynasty, have to imagine only coming away with 1 would certainly be a disappointment for them.

Our finances aren't too far behind them.
