i guess at least between Dre, Deuce & Dadiet we could potentially trade for a 10m ish C mid season. we have tons of 2nds we could attach also.
Drummond could use some Ozempic. If he loses 15lbs he'll be better
I'd like us to still pick up Moussa Cisse from Dallas as your 3rd string center. It might be easier to make a favorable deal now that we have a back-up aka appear less desperate for a center.
Drummond was always the closest thing to Mitch out there anyway as far as beefy paint impediments goes.
If you wanted someone for the biggest centers to bounce off of then Drummond is actually that guy.
He's a better shooter than Mitch and a better passer. His rebounding numbers last season per MPG were quite good.
The primary area Mitch has an advantage in is defensive range. He can chase defend people out to the perimeter. Drummond will mostly stay closer to the rim.
He's old and fat maybe, but he's actually still more skilled than Mitch ever was and can still give you 20 decent minutes a game.
If you were missing Mitch, then Drummond is just fine. As far as continuity goes, he maintains most of the same qualities we had in Mitch plus other qualities.

We've been increasing our roster's shooting ability. Drummond and Nickel both upgrade our roster to the extent there may not be anyone left in the rotation who can't shoot a three. This is probably by design to continue improving our overall shooting profile as a team.

If the Knicks were looking for a shoot for the Moon type of center, they can now do that without the pressure of not having any backup center on their roster is absolutely correct
I still don’t understand what they are doing with Deuce.

If the Knicks were looking for a shoot for the Moon type of center, they can now do that without the pressure of not having any backup center on their roster is absolutely correct
I still don’t understand what they are doing with Deuce.
Cisse or Diabate would be preferable to Richards or JV
They'd give us long-term developmental depth for the front court at probably a sustainable price.
If they do go for the old veterans, then the FO basically believes they can restock the center position every year on the cheap while they remain in conttention.

But I'd prefer one of the two young dudes to match up with other athletic clubs (like the Spurs when we whip their asses again).

Mitch can defend and protect the rim. Drummond can’t. I don’t think Drummond’s 3 pt shooting and passing outweighs that.

Completely agree. And a guy like Cisse could very easily outplay Drummond and become our primary backup big. I’m not a fan of Drummond and think we need someone that can defend

Drummond isn’t good. Mitch gave us 3 main qualities:
- rim protection
- rebounding
- 1v1 defense
Drummond only provides rebounding. And he’s a very old 32.
In a perfect world, we’d have a vet and a young guy who has an opportunity to earn the backup job
Reed is unique as a senior who played for Michigan and UConn and weight 265 lbs. Experience, well coached and NBA body. I’m not saying he’d be All NBA. But it’s not so unrealistic to think he can outperform a statue next year
I hear all the hate and it’s kinda deserved, but with that said Drummond had a good year last year. He played to much during the year and by the time the playoffs rolled around he was spent .
He was a dog for Philly and was a rebounding machine, and can now stretch the floor and hit ft’s. He’s a great locker room guy who’s going to come in super motivated as he’s about to live his childhood dream putting on the orange and blue… when is 32 years old … old… lol I really liked tarris reed to but kid hasn’t even touched a nba court and would have cost more $$$ . To get a guy like Drummond at a vet minimum 1 year deal is great .. … at first I wasn’t for it as he is slow on defense, we know that and the coaching staff definitely knows that … they will scheme the defense knowing this .
It really don't matter cause my boy Mo D is gonna ball out next year and shock the nba . Knicks going back to back, let’s freaking go !!!
If you think about it in terms of free agents this was the best Mitch replacement. Again Drummond is a DOG . He’s going to give you 110% for 10-15 min a night doing what he do on the cheap.
This recovery signing gets a A .

Maybe they are seeing the value of those young centers too high at the moment and this is the strategy to go by and then wait for the deadline.
I really Hope we can land one of those young backups, whether now or later at the deadline.
