Knicks · Knicks sign Cisse for 3rd C. Waiting to see if Dallas matches. (page 3)

The offer sheet seems to be a favor to his agent, who also reps Dadiet

Unfortunately the Knicks can’t offer Dallas a second round pick via sign and trade due to being over the first apron. More nonsense of this CBA.

Dallas matched. Knicks will have to find someone else.

Knew Dallas would match. Would've been stupid not to! We don't have many options but I'd keep that spot open and let Trey Jemison and Liam Robbins battle it out at camp. Wouldn't mind Nick Richards but he's likely out of our price range. It's the 3rd string Center so it's not that big of a deal.

Most teams can only offer vet min at this point. Teams that need him who can offer more would have done so already. 3rd C on a contender like the Knicks could be valuable as he would be a solid playoff series from changing how he is viewed around the league as a vet min guy. Beat out Drummond or inj to Drummond to get mins as the backup. Then play well on a contender with enough talent to allow you to focus on what you do well in a position to suceed, rebounds & putbacks.

Knicks seem to desire more athletic option though as that is currently missing from the rotation there.

I wonder what Dallas needs. Maybe this is a trade later on

BlueKnickers @ 7/19/2026 12:40 PM
The only remaining solution is to put Nalod on a stack of phone books under the rim and he'll riddle the opposition into turning the ball over.

Now that he is signed, he probably cannot be traded until December. I think the Knicks plan to get their third center before the season starts.

I can’t see Nick Richards being out of our price range. No one has signed him and money is dried up. He’s likely a minimum guy. I just think either the Knicks simply don’t like him or he wants a secure backup role, not third string. As for the others, I agree with bringing in Robbins and Jemison regardless and letting them duke it out for a 2-way spot. Having one of them as the 4th center is totally fine. But we do really need another reliable guy, even if it’s an upside project like Cisse would have been. For other options, it’s slim. I’d offer the Kings a high number of second round picks for Dylan Cardwell. He’s the perfect player and contract for this team. But he’s probably off limits. I don’t see any other obvious guys out there. The center market is tough right now.

The Riddle to Solve:

Was it really Cisse or was it necessary to get Dallas to sign this kid and somehow this movement does something else?
I don't have it. Usually teams don't answer that fast. Was Dallas looking at someone else we want but instead chose to match rather than risk something?
years ago Riley signed some one and by doing so he was able to get his real target player. I don't recall the spefics.

"Hack a Nalod".......The stack of phone books? Just don't open them cuz i'll starting telling more stories about who lives where and what not.

At 2.1mm, they wanted Cisse. No 3D chess, they negotiated a favorable team friendly contract and Dallas said thank you.

It takes a while to build momentum, but by the time he gets to Z you won't want it to end

Feels like Knicks took a chance on a young player and it also probably doubled up as a favor to Cisse's agent who is also the agent to Dadiet. Cisse was on 2way last year and prob hit a roadblock in negotiating next contract and Knicks facilitated the terms for themselves and agents?

newyorknewyork @ 7/20/2026 2:19 PM
Mavs probably buyout Klay to open a roster spot. Then move Lively for 2nd round draft capital so they can bring back Brandon Williams for Guard depth & clear the 3rd C spot for Cisse.
Blade37db @ 7/20/2026 2:27 PM
Question on this situation and the RFA rules: does Dallas matching our offer sheet now allow them now the opportunity to turn around and trade Cisse?
I'm not 100% sure on NBA RFA rules, but I think had they not matched they would have lost him for nothing (?).
Now that they have matched, can they try to flip him for some trade assets (a player and/or picks)?

(EDIT) - Nevermind - found the answer to my own question:

Cisse is set to be paid $2.2 million for the upcoming season, but his salary increases by $1.1 million if he isn't waived by Sept. 1, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. Since an offer sheet to him was matched, Cisse cannot be traded without his approval for one year. He also cannot be dealt to the Knicks during that year.

Richards and his agent probably want $7-8 million and he’s not getting those offers. Hopefully once the season gets closer he becomes more amenable to a one year league minimum offer his value on the open market won’t increase sitting out a NBA regular season on the other hand it will increase greatly if he goes to the Knicks and becomes a key part of the rotation playing on national tv every other night.

Perhaps you can share where you got that $7-8mil figure from?
This "report" insinuates he'd take the Vet Min.
Free agency is barely 3 weeks into.

Yeah I don’t see where that sort of money would come from. A couple things to keep in mind with Richards, he’s a CAA client so that naturally connects him to the Knicks more than normal. He is also a NY/ NJ athlete who played for Coach Cal at Kentucky. These are the 3 things (outside of Nova) that have traditionally connected a player to the Knicks front office. So I actually find it odd he hasn’t landed on the Knicks at this point. He had been previously connected to them but it may have always been speculation due to these factors. Maybe they simply dont want him. He got into a fight last year with Alvarado. Maybe there’s some personality fit concerns. Not really sure, but part of me feels like if the Knicks wanted him he would already be a Knick.

Its a legitimate quesition on a legitimate conversation regarding a player being discussed in various media outlets.

I posted a link that discusses a price. You could say "Its my opinion" and be done with it.
Or you can defend the logic.
Or as you did take the low road and throw out an insult rather than stay on point.
Lazy.
