Knicks · Poll: Who gets the last roster spot??? (page 1)

I'm thinking it goes to Wiseman, but as I mentioned in another thread, I won't be surprised if it goes to Tony Bradley instead. He has done work against us in two playoff series, and I was pretty impressed for a third stringer. I vote for him as a contrarian, because I expect no one else will...
Panos @ 10/15/2026 7:06 AM
Anyone?

Wiseman. Upside. But really I have no clue.

Bradley injured himself in the last preseason game. I think the team will keep him around in the League to rehab and in case they need him later unless he has better options. I wonder he can only make like 50k in the gleague but it will keep him in shape and ready to go if a spot opens up.

I'd be surprised if Wiseman didn't make it. He was the obvious preferred guy to make it and he seemed to play well enough.

Question: is Wiseman a poor-man's Jericho Sims?
Compare and Contrast.

Wiseman is a much better offensive player but not the defensive player. Wiseman actually has real skill on offense compared to Sims and Huk, neither of which wanted to score at all.

The Wiseman-Mike Brown thing is a big part of it. Their time together in GSW perhaps they got tight and perhaps unlock the potential. I'd go there.

The Dadiet thing: Where does Bruce Brown fit in a rotation? Good guy to have on the bench no doubt. Fact is with this roster he could be more useful than Deuce? I think MIles defense is not what it was under Thibs which is understandable. Kid was fighting for his life and demonic defense was key to keeping him on count until it all came together. I like to see him get his rhythm. Perhaps it is him who is traded? For a pick?

Brown better for playoff depth and is rotation ready’ish, Wiseman better for center foul trouble and injury depth and a long term prospect.
Panos @ 10/15/2026 2:03 PM
Eubanks out. And then there were 4.
Panos @ 10/15/2026 2:11 PM

Ok, and then there were 2.

Wiseman makes the most sense.

If the Knicks decide to hold on to Brown we can pretty much say good bye to Deuce and/or Kolek and I'm ready to give up on either one for another version of Hart.

Wiseman

Brown would be nice, but Wiseman is more essential

I think Wiseman makes it because he fills a specific need not met by anyone else. Can he do what Hukporti did last year? keep defenses honest, set some picks, not hurt us with rotations, rebound a little and get some garbage opportunistic baskets? Looking at the roster, a 3rd string center is more of a need to the Knicks than another do-it-all wing. As they say, you can't teach height.

Brown looks like he'd be a great injury replacement for OG/Hart/Bridges to keep the offense moving. A lot of the guys we have on our bench sort of feel like specialists - guys that can shoot, play specific roles. Brown is sort of like in the Josh Hart mold - does a bit of everything, glue guy, will soak up minutes with quality play.

With that said, if we think we can do better, we could try to get a different center via trade. The guys we were looking at could still be had.

Assuming we keep our starting 5 intact (Brunson/Bridges/OG/Hart/KAT)

We have a fair amount of overlapping/duplicate roles off the bench
F: Dadiet, Diawara, Nickel, McCullar Jr, Shamet
SG: Shamet, Clarkson, McBride, McCullar Jr
PG: Mcbride/Alvarado/Kolek/Clarkson

Putting on my "expansion team" brain on (ie if the NBA were to have an expansion draft, who would be interesting to other teams), I can see McBride and Kolek getting some attention. Teams might want to see if McBride can handle PG or be a really good combo guard. Kolek has shown A LOT of promise as a floor general. He's a high effort, high motor guy - though he's really not so explosive on defense which hurts his value in a back up role. I could see either of these two netting us one of our targets (Missi from New Orleans or Cisse from Dallas).

Dallas has a bad situation - 16 players, with a decision likely coming between Cisse and Powell for backup bigman. If Cisse gets waived, perhaps our relationship with him when he signed the offer with us counts for something - we got him his money and now he can repay us. Alternatively, we could see a last minute move for Powell. He's 35 and would provide something very different from Wiseman. Reliable vet big man, knows the game and won't make mistakes.

Wiseman looks like a lock, but I thought it’s the 14th not the last roster spot. The only guy on this roster that doesn’t have a use or a role is Dadiet, so I suppose he’d have to go to make room for Brown. Kolek is valuable because he is actually a PG and Deuce already has a role, but, if the plan is to give Brown Deuce’s minutes as the only rotation guy they’d trade then - Deuce. It possible they still view Dadiet as a project, that is if he can get his head out of his ass. Nice kid but he don’t seem smart.

IMHO I think wiseman has something to prove being a second pick. Might play up to expectations and will play with a chip on his shoulders Just my opinion
