Knicks · This is why Pacome Dadiet will never be an NBA baller (page 1)

Pacôme Dadiet recorded a 36-inch maximum vertical leap and a 29-inch standing vertical leap during pre-draft testing

That ain’t good. The kids 6’9 and can’t throw one down with authority or get anything contested around the rim

A teenager who becomes a 22 year old certainly can. Comparing a young adult male to middle aged men is foolish. I remember as a young man being able to keep an erection for the whole day, and being able to go running at midnight for five miles after a full day of work and college classes, and then going out with my girlfriend for some action and waking up at 6 am to do it all over again.

so you are saying you were more erect at 22 than you were at 18? The eye test says to me that his vertical is basically non existent. It's why he is so reluctant to drive the rim, well that and he has no handle. Even when given the ball at the rim, he can't elevate even at 22

It’s funny. If you posted this before last night’s game, I’d probably have tacitly agreed. I hadn’t see much from him to warrant an opinion otherwise. Your vertical assessment is a bit aggressive. 29 inch vertical is 44th percentile among players of all prospects that year at all positions. 36 inch vertical is 65th percentile. That 36 is the median for all NBA players as well. So, we can agree he won’t have that elite explosiveness I like to see.

That said, last night he showed a real skill I liked. Not that smooth shot. But he showed intuitive iff ball movement - one of which resulted in nice jam. He looked pretty energized after that.

I’d like to see him get a little more action before throwing him to the wolves. Feel like something clicked for him last night, even if he turned the ball over with 11.2 seconds left in a 2 point game because he didn’t realize it would be a back court violation to run away with the ball.

This is insane level thinking. No one cares what vertical Brunson or Mikel have cause their games on built via that type of athleticism. If Dadiet is gonna succeed it’s gonna be cause of his shooting, cutting ie smarts, and defense. He is on a Mikal body type and game path if anything.

When you are 18 and 6’7+ and have a slight build, you gain strength and reactive elasticity over time. This is a normal growth process.

I have heard of runners high, which I never got. Once I remember jogging like ten miles and feeling happy but certainly not high. I do like cycling and I feel child like. Like when I participate here. We are all very childlike, in the best ways

I agree. Plus, I would not feel inclined to dump Dadiet just to bring in Bruce Brown. We don't need another 6'4" guard, who has some poor analytical numbers attached to him and that's why Denver didn't keep him. If we trade Dadiet it should be for a player who can provide length at the 3/4.

Bruce Brown is obviously nothing special, but he replicates a lot of what Hart does and that appeals to the team. Plus he’s CAA and the Knicks have always valued that relationship. But Brown is a usable player in the Josh Hart role when needed. Hart is entering that career stage where he may take more regular season games off.

and yet your the guy that posted the boner?
Thus I have unpacked......
Rookie represses his attracton to the slender and smooth skinned Pacome by lashing out about his measured vertical. Again.
ALpha blood flow raged while at school, work, then smash with girl friend. Sleep, lather, rinse, repeat. His back troubles now have an origin
BlueKnickers fingers bring him to a guy having a boner, and he copies it here.

Yes, this is all very interesting. Can't wait for PhilC to bare witness.

Have you considered that maybe your ability to think or reason has eroded year over year? Pacome is a professional athlete. Upon entering the NBA his exercise and performance regime will have included jumping training. If anything, his jumping ability should be better than it was at 18. If he fails as an NBA player...it wont be due to jumping. His motor, processing and shot consistency are much more of the factors that come into question.

How NBA Players Train for Vertical Jumps

• Plyometrics: They use explosive jump movements—such as jump squats, depth jumps, and multi-directional bounding—to train the nervous system and fast-twitch muscle fibers for quick, powerful takeoffs.
• Lower-Body Strength Training: Programs heavily feature heavy compound lifts like barbell back squats and deadlifts to build the raw force output required to push off the floor with maximum power.
• Arm Swing & Load Mechanics: Training often refines jumping technique, optimizing how they drop into a load phase and time their arm swing to maximize vertical height.
• Frequency: Players typically perform dedicated plyometric and power sessions 2 to 3 times a week, allowing adequate rest for connective tissues and the nervous system to recover.

Carmelo Anthony was never going to jump out of the gym but he could break your ankles. Nobody respects Dadiet handle so he is very limited in what he can do in an offense. I don’t see any similarities with Dadiet’s and Bridges game other than both shy away from contact. Bridges has freaky long arms in a sport where length is a skill you can build on. Also Dadiet does not seem that smart. I hope he figures it out but he doesn’t really have a role or a path to minutes on this team. We are a playoff team. If I had to play one of Brown or Dadiet in the playoffs I’m going with Brown

You started off with vertical and moved on to ankle breaking.

Dadiet’s game, in the same way as Mikal’s, won’t be based off of pure athleticism. One of the reasons they drafted the young kid was based off of his off ball movement capabilities, which is above average at even the pro level. We saw a hint of that in the preaseason. Another part of his game was the shooting potential which has not shown itself at all to date.

Mikal and Dadiet are the 2 fastest guys on the team in a straight line, up and down the court. That’s Dadiet’s peak. So far he has not met his potential.

Last year Brown was rated as one of the poorest offensive players who played regularly in the league according to multiple advanced stats. Here is a good listen at the 12min mark

That’s good stuff but if you watch him play, he’s got no lift. He can’t jump. It why I looked up his measurable’s trying to understand why.

I’ll check it out. What’s the point of cutting if you can’t finish at the rim. That’s where his lack of vertical comes in. I brought up Melo because even though he lacked a vertical jump he was elite in other areas. He always knew how to get where he wanted to go and get his shot. Dadiet still has no clue. Mikal is an elite 3&D wing. Dadiet’s shot hasn’t materialized
