But seriously, they made their threes and we didn't. Simple as that. And Orlando played like the more desperate team. Franz killed us as usual. He was unstoppable in that 4th. DeSilva and Black also hit timely shots.
We did some nice things and were 10 with like 9 minutes left. KAT had some nice passes and Kolek did well but we don't have it yet as a team. There is a def a hangover and I think it's only natural. We'll be fine. This is actually good for us in the long term. This will build that hunger and desperation back. Hope nobody here is panicking. Like Breen kept pointing out, we lost 3 in a row early last season.
No panic, but we're hoping from more out the gate.
This is not the team anyone was expecting, despite the long season and the mindfunk that winning a chip can bring.

Drummond I think got hurt game one. He played 7 min tonite. and not great.

JB hero ball? The whole world now knows he had something to prove, and he did. The encore is even harder. He has to be having a bit of a mindfuck given his celebrity status and the power it breeds. Is it bad? WIll it take him down? Way to early but it has to change a man right? I mean, it has to. He proved it. Hell of a thing. He is changed. He might be even better player for it. Have to see. For now he is adjusting.
Why sub out guys playing well? They get tired. Also its a championship core. Gotta get it going. Team seems to do with with GTA and Kolek. Playimaking matters!!!!
Worried? Not yet. Curious? yes.
I would like to separate panic from concern.
Panic about this team? Not really, not even last year before the magical run in the playoffs. We knew and we know there is serious talent here and we knew and know that they have the potential to click and be unstoppable.
Now, concerns? ALWAYS KNICKS! Last year they proved to have periods of lack of discipline and focus, immaturity if you will. But the ceiling was higher than we all anticipated, and when they reached for it, it was glorious. But this is still a flawed team mentally and they are really showing it out of the gate.
I think Mike Brown and the staff made a decision to keep the KAT-centered offense mostly hidden until next postseason. This has reverted us back to Brunson ball and he hasn’t been in his clutch game yet, so we have yet to win. Can they keep KAT in the doghouse all season? Don’t think so.
I’m sorry, Im gonna say it: I’m just not a fan of Bridges. His hole tenure with us Ive tried to. When he is on, he is a two-way weapon that becomes the real X-factor. But that is not the norm, and his norm is just unplayable. I would root for him if he still tried everytime, pulled through and made his impact even on bad days. But this guy is a bad day most of the time. The “F’em picks” is cool because we won a ring and that already makes the deal worth it, but he is such a disappearing act most of the nights that I can’t see us being a perennial contender without having him traded at some point. A slow start is one thing, but this is a trend.
I love this team. Loved them through the ups and downs of last season and obviously feel amazing that they went on to become champions. It was glorious and we can still rave on all of it. But this is 26-27 and counting preseason, this team is still partying and celebrating while the rest of the league went back to work. Its just 0-3, but it can definitely get worse and as the champs, everyone will get their act together to measure up against you, so no game is a gimme. This team being prone to losing focus, they haven’t internalized it. Nobody.
They need to get their s’t together if they want to make this a respectable title defense. Everyone is gonna play their best against them.

I’m not worried, we lack passion and desire, the lack of hustle is prevalent in the starting unit . I don’t understand the robotic substitutions. He pulled everyone for the starters when we were going on a run and up 10… Kolek played great getting guys easy looks and then we pulled him and it was all down hill from there.
We’ll figure out how to get back to normal… I think it’s hard to get there after you achieved what all these guys worked so hard to do.
The one guy I’m worried about is bridges he’s looked terrible … Kolek helped him get his first pts … I really think at some point we have to think about getting him in that second unit as a scorer to get him going .

I was kinda expecting this. we are still high from the championship.
One thing that is different from last season is this season, KAT has only been playing at C. No Mitch to play with. I would like to see him with Wiseman. I think Drummond is too slow to play alongside with KAT
