Davis Booted From Celtics Practice 01/17 -
6:09 AM
Witnessed by New England Baptist-sponsored high school students, Boston coach Doc Rivers was not shy in throwing Celtics sixth man Ricky Davis from the team's practice Sunday after the high flying forward started complaining a little too loudly and colorfully for Rivers' taste, Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald is reporting.

The Celtics' coach first pointed toward the trainer's room door and said, ``Get out.''

When Davis stopped to argue from the doorway, Rivers barked, ``Go home.''

Davis was upset with how a scrimmage was being officiated by the coaches.

Rivers was also bothered by the fact that Davis wasn't able to control his language despite the presence of a bleacher section full of students from throughout Boston - all sponsored yesterday in recognition of academic achievement.

``He was yelling at the guys, and I didn't like the tone of his talk,'' Rivers said. ``And there were kids in the gym.

``When I think a guy is becoming a distraction, I'll throw him out. It's not the first time it's happened, and it's really not that big a deal, but you have to have discipline, especially in a situation like this.''
