Shaq is being modest. Very modest. I've never thought I'd be saying that, but for once, he is.
Also, I think half the reason he sucks up to Wade so much, to the media, is to get back at Kobe.
Either way, Shaq is the MVP of that team.

Wade isn't even the MVP of his own team...how can he be the MVP of the NBA?
Shaq disagrees with you but I guess you would know better than he would
only you would post something like that Bonn...lol.

how did i know you'd come back w/a reply like that?
Now now children. Save the drama for NYK20s mama.
look here koop, nash has an allstar supporting cast. if given the chance to play for the suns, rick brunson would be your mvp. that's okay, the more they talk about nash getting mvp...the more jkidd will remind crtics who should be the mvp....starting with last night's performance
i've got a question for everyone: why would shaq win the mvp NOW when he's old and slow? he's still dominant, always has been, but why should he win it now? his stats are as they've always been, if not lower. he's got a good team though, who seem to play good team basketball. i dont know if that helps your mvp chances or hinders it (take nash for example, people say he's doing well because of everyone around him).
sticking to the original comparison wade vs. nash, i think it's a toss up. nash has more assists but wade is a pretty good passer and court general as well. wade plays good defense while nash doesn't. come to think of it, it's hard to think of a good reason why nobody considers wade an mvp candidate. it's the shaq curse i guess, if you're playing alongside shaq you can't possibly be an mvp.
all that being said, i think the mvp will go to nash this year simply because it's "his year", his stats look great and his team is performing remarkably well. everyone's on the nash bandwagon (even i am, i guess). but come to think of it, pound for pound, i don't see why anybody would say that nash is more "valuable" than wade. maybe duncan will win it in the end, who knows?

Miami was picked to win the east as soon as they traded for Shaq. They have the best record in the east with the same team '-' odom and butler '+' Shaq. I think Shaq should be considered for MVP but I think Duncan should win.

I agree there stats are about similar but Shaq has Wade who's more of a star than Ginobili. He also has Eddie Jones and Haslem.
San Antonio also has a better record and they play out West.
DUNCAN FOR MVP!!!

Exactly. (It's an exaggeration, but a good point.) And look at how much better a Wade and Shaq combo is this year than a Kobe and Shaq (plus Malone and Payton) combo was last year.

Wow; I *knew* you'd come back with a reply like that one!
I change my mind. I think Allen Iverson should be MVP. Best player ever. Even better than Marbury. Got a problem with that, punk?

I don't really think that was a valid point. That entire season, Kobe was going to court and also being a little byatch to Shaq, Phil and the rest of his teammates. There was almost no chemistry whatsoever on that team b/c everything Kobe was going through was a huge distraction. You can't really compare the Heat to the Lakers of last year, b/c the Lakers last year was a disaster. A BETTER team to compare this years Heat team to, is when the Lakers made the championship run for 3 years in a row. I don't think the Heat will win the championship this year. It's possible, but I think it's either Detroit or San Antonio with Phoenix and Miami making noises.
Wade is NOT a better player than Kobe, and he might very well ever be. He has the potential, but he needs to develop that jumper, mid range and long distance. W/o Shaq, there wouldn't be nearly as many blocked shots, and rebounds and even steals to create fast breaks for Wade. W/o Shaq, the defense would be completely shifted on Wade, and he would be a star, not the "MVP Candidate" you say he is.
Again Bonn, Wade is awesome, and he'll be right up there with LeBron and Carmello. But this year, both he and LeBron are not MVPs. It should go to either Nash b/c his team stinks no matter how good the players are, without him, or Shaq, just b/c of who he is. You gotto give Duncan and even Ray Allen considerations too.

After seeing how much he's elevated Webber's game, I'd have to agree 100% with you! I guess I actually was just being a silly punk when I predicted that if you put a 21/11/6 PF on Iverson's team, that PF's production will plummet because Iverson can't share the ball and the team will *still* be in the lottery--a place Iverson has had three consecutive years to "familiarize" himself with. What a punk I was!

I don't think the comparison of Kobe and Shaq from a few years ago vs Wade and Shaq now is fair because Shaq was in his prime then but now is in his 12th? season and not the player he used to be.
Wade is NOT a better player than Kobe
It depends on how you evaluate players. If you go solely on skill and talent, then without any doubt, Kobe is superior. If you evaluate players by combining both their skills and their team-first attittude, I think Wade comes out ahead of Kobe right now.

MVP is Shaq for 2005.
Shaqs passing and presence on the court makes all those around him better.
MVP is one of 3 this year. Shaq, Nash, or Duncan. I'll tell you when the year is over.
must be lebron james!!
clevland is nothing without him
he averages 25P 7RB 7AS (makes his teamates better)
steve nash great season and his team reaky needs him
shaq has wade next to him and a great coach
KG is having an average season(great average)
You evaluate Nash in terms of what he does for the players around him, Amare would be averging close to 7 points less without Nash, he pushes their scoring up 12 points a night, not to mention the fg% of each player on the team is better with Nash in the line-up.....
Nash, Shaq, Duncan, Iverson, Lebron are your 5 MVPs canidates.....Wade isn't on Nash's level as far as making people better, although he far more skilled and will have a better career in the long run
