EnySpree @ 10/15/2005 11:14 AM
Cardiac Arrest!!!! This morning!!!!
Wow......R.I.P.

I hope they let this guy rest before they start comparing him to Curry. I can see it coming.
Solace @ 10/15/2005 11:15 AM

NYK3 @ 10/15/2005 11:19 AM

Marv @ 10/15/2005 11:20 AM
i remember this guy well. And i remember in one of oiur games against them last year Mike Breen kept carrying on about him, his tastes in rock n' roll and everything. wow that's chilling. believe me 28 seems like a baby to you when you get older.
PhilinLA @ 10/15/2005 11:22 AM
rest in peace. My prayers go out to his family.
Caseloads @ 10/15/2005 11:29 AM
wow. he had a heart attack and died. wow. do teams not have dedicated team doctors at every practice? this is a shame! teams should have nitroglycerin, oxygen, aspirin nearby at all times.
nyk4ever @ 10/15/2005 11:30 AM
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this on ESPN.com

Is it just me or does it seem like alot of athletes are having heart problems recently? I really think it has to do with the crap that they put into themselves for workout purposes. I dont know, this is just really sad.

this is what i said earlier. anyone can get hit in the chest, develop an arrhythmia and die from a heart attack.
Caseloads @ 10/15/2005 11:32 AM
i wonder if they had a defib there on site. and i wonder if anyone knew to punch him in the chest hard to get his heart working again.
Caseloads @ 10/15/2005 11:33 AM
NBA players should all have to learn basic and advanced first aid.

is that true Case? So if someone isn't breathing after just collapsing, you punch them in the chest?
teslawlo @ 10/15/2005 11:37 AM
wow I am shocked. Rest in peace collier, I knew who he was as a player and always thought he was a good backup center prospect. :(
Knight @ 10/15/2005 11:39 AM
It sounded like he died at home not at practice.
Marv @ 10/15/2005 11:40 AM
yeah. apparently his poor wife tried to revive him.

Atlanta Hawks center Jason Collier died early Saturday morning of an apparent heart attack. He was 28.

Collier experienced chest pains and his wife performed CPR and called 911.

Hawks players were notified of Collier's death at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning before a scheduled workout was cancelled.

Collier, who played at Georgia Tech, was the longest tenured Hawk player, joining the team for the 2003-04 season after spending three seasons in Houston.

depends on the case... if someone is having an arrhythmia, which means abnormal electrical activity in the heart causing the coordination of the valves and pacing of the heart beats to become irregular, an electrical shock to the chest or a punch to the chest might restore the regular electrical activity and rhythm of the heart.
MaTT4281 @ 10/15/2005 11:50 AM
