Lakers still should have traded him to compete for another chip with Shaq and another superstar.
good point, if he's not winning it with Wade how is he suppose to win with Marbury/Allen. The Shaq from afew yrs back would definitely win with Wade
whaaaaaaaat theeeeeeeeeeee fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

I edited it out before i thought anyone saw it, because I didn't want to have the debate. But since you brought it up yes.
At the time Shaq was traded, if they had traded Kobe instead, they could have gotten any of these players for him + another player:
Paul Pierce
Vince Carter
T-Mac
AI
Ray Allen
Stephon Marbury
Baron Davis
Richard Jefferson
Keep in mind, the Lakers could have gotten any wing player in the league PLUS another good player for him. When you add that plus Shaq, you have a Lakers team that is on par to compete for another championship for several more years. People do pay to see Kobe, but they would pay for a championship contender just the same OR MORE. If I were the GM I would have traded Kobe and gotten one of those guys plus someone else for him, it just makes good sense all around. They missed the playoffs last year and Shaq was in the ECF. That could have been LA in the WCF instead. The Lakers are very very far from winning a championship.

A Ray Allen, Rashard Lewis, Shaq combo could have won 4 straight titles. Those other players plus Shaq plus one more solid player thrown in a Kobe deal would have been better for the Lakers too. Kobe is a wonderful talent who had a wonderful game. No one is denying that.
how do you figure... shaq is surrounded by a better team than that in miami and they arent going to win a ring, let alone 4. i doubt shaq will even be in the league 3 years after this one.
bonn you are the most predictable human being in the world.
Kobe did his thing tonight. People that saw the game will tell you he was not just trying to put up stats. The Lakers were down by 19 in the third until Kobe took it over. The game was also close in the 4th until about 4 minutes left in the game. Then Kobe started cutting through double teams and shooting threes out of nowhere.
It's time we give Kobe his props tonight. The bottom line is, if this was a Knick's player we would be going crazy. Now because it is Kobe he is just throwing up stats?

He only shot 54% from the line(7-13), he didn't make his teammates better (only 2 assists), and he still had 3 turnovers...Rose shot 11-12 from the line.

As incredible as Kobe was, I have to be flat out honest and takes sides with Bonn on this one. Yes, good job by Kobe for keeping it up while he was still there, but Phil let Kobe beat a horse while it was LOOOOOOOONG dead and should have just pulled Kobe out by the time the outcome was determined.
Isles, Kobe accomplished a lot today, no doubt, but Cones and Well's perfect games are far and miles above that, in terms of that. They were FLAWLESS.
I'm with Bonn. Padding stats is not the way i roll and I'm honestly never for a player taking 46 shots a game. It's anti team bball.
WhenWilt scored 100, the were blowing the Knicks out but his teamates purposely fed him the ball down the stretch so he could get 100. Boston was killing the Hawks in a gmae in 86, and Bird was throwing up threes in the final minute so he could pass Mchale for the all time celtic scoring record when Bird dropped 60. David Robinson scored 70 in a blowout over the clippers to capture the scoring title as did Iceman George Gervin to capture the scoring title over David Thompson.
This isn't anti team ball if the teamates are helping you secure a record.
he only had 26 at halftime wow
i will still take Lebron over Kobe and a few other players too... just cuz u can go crazy and score a million doesent mean that u r doing good for the team
umm third highest was by wilt he had 78 in 1961
