Well in dog fighting the dogs mainly survive. In fur, nothing survives. The inhumane practices happen for reasons which are equally as trivial.
Eating animals is part of what are bodies are made to do. We ate animals animals eat each other, its apart of nature and the cycle of life, it is how our planet and many species evolved. There is nothing inherently wrong with eating living things for food. Plants are living things too, btw.
I don't see how chickens can possibly fight in the first place, but I guess it does exist. Co Sign with Killa and eating other animals. If an animal is killed for food, then I have no problem using the rest of it for other purposes, such as clothing and whatnot. Killing an animal for sport, however, is flat out wrong to me. Let it live if you have no use for it, besides having it's head up in your living room, which never really impressed me in particular.
Steroids?
I'm going with none of the above.
What about hunting animals with a rifle? Is that better or worse or the same.
As opposed to hunting them with what? At least it leads to a quick death, as opposed to what goes in in a dog fight. Like I said, if you're hunting for food and clothing, FINE. If you're hunting to make yourself look good or sport or whatnot, not fine, that's right with dogfighting.
Dogs are mans best friend in my eyes and anyone that gets their rocks off from dog fighting are pure garbage. Ron Mexico is once again showing his class.

Why are people seemingly trying to justify it?
Well could we say dog fighting is as bad as hiring illegal aliens to work. I know it may not seem as bad at first but in the long run it still effects peoples lives.

no i wasn't saying hispanics just illegal immigrants. (and to tell you the truth you get the same penalty by law for both dogs and humans right!!!)

I'm not justifying dog fighting, but its a bit much to hear the outcry against dogfighting when we live in a society where cows are hung by their feet on a conveyor belt that takes them to their slaughter as we watch our stars endorse McDonalds and Burger King.
And its funny, that a lot of people would be more figiving if he had just taken steroids or something. Vick didn't cheat on the game of football, he didn't cheat or abuse his wife, he didn't rape or kill a person. He engaged in the canine version of gladiator. I'm a vegetarian. I don't justify Vick, i just question the apparent double-standard when it comes to canines.

Maybe there are other forms of animal cruelty as well, but here we are talking about dogs, not cows. Feel free to start a cow thread. I think if you were more familiar with the methods used in dogfighting you wouldnt be defending it. Regardless of your opinion, the federal government agrees with me and your boy will be facing federal charges. The feds dont lose. So I hope the piece of shit spends the next five years in a cage.
my dad was a New jersey animal control officer so I can tell you that hunting in our area is not just for sport, it is for population control. if there weren't hunting seasons there would be a lot of people who live near wooded areas (which is quite a bit in the NJ/NY/upstate areas) who have bears wandering in their back yards. also, hunting out of season is illegal and carries severe fines.
as some have said here, killing animals for food and clothing is the way of life. there is benefit to our survival. fighting dogs or any animal for sport has no benefit outside of personal entertainment and gambling.
1.wearing fur -- not as bad. humans have worn fur to keep warm since the beginning of mankind. (although i will admit, we have gotten out of hand.)
2.chicken fighting -- just as bad. just because their smaller animals or not man's best friend does'nt justify or make it more acceptable.
3.eating meat -- not as bad. again, man has been a meat-eater since the begining. some doctor's and palientoligist's believe that eating meat after pre-man became extinct made our brains larger. now i do wish i were in the small percentage that are vegans. i think my brain's big enough.
4.taking steroids -- no where near as a bad. this should'nt even be a part of this topic. if one wants to inject their body w/toxins that affect their body and brains in a negative way, that's their business. not much different from cocaine.
also when animals are "slaughtered" their killed quickly, or humanely.<--if their's a such thing. their not put to fight against their will.

I guess you didn't read the whole sentence. I understand that anybody who raises a oppositional point is going to be deemed anti-puppy but I'm not saying at all that canines should tortured for some cheap bloody thrill. I am saying that in the
larger societal picture that two grown men wailing on each other in a sanctioned interruption of an otherwise decent sport, purely to satisfy the common bloodlust of suburban wanna-be tough guys (picture the average islander fan screaming over his cheap beer "yeah...Simon give it to em good baby...chop em down like a tree") is almost identical to the type of wannabe thug who participates in dog fighting in some back alley. Now, maybe it's not seen that way because of the veneer of race thats laid over everything in america but honsetly we have Pistons/Pacers almost every night in the NHL & it's seen as business as usual in America. Once again I'm no supporter of Vick & his ilk but lets just ease back on the hypocrisy for a minute...
