perfect... we're replacing our shaky lefty reliever w/someone who gave up 8 ER over 1.2 inning the last time he was up here... Claggett's not even putting up tremendously good stats at the AAA level either... what's the point?

why don't they call up Zach Kroenke, or at least Brett Tomko... Kroenke's pitching to a stellar 0.84 ERA right now at Scranton over 10.2 IP & Tomko's pitching at an equally impressive 0.87 ERA over 10.1 IP.

I think it may have to do with transferring people on and off the 40 man roster.

the Yanks waived Humberto Sanchez to make a spot on the 40 man roster & they were very high on him at 1 point, i have to believe they'd be willing to bump someone off that 40 man to make room for a guy in the minors putting up those types of #'s that can potentially help this team this year... they should just cut Eric Hacker loose.

I don't agree with that. You can't just cut a guy to bring up a guy from the minors, it's a bad use of resources.

they called Clagget up only to assign him back to the minors a day later w/o even a game being played... i still don't get it.

well they did it w/Humberto already... gave up on him after he had Tommy John surgery a while back... everyone knows it takes a long time to come back from a surgery like that & he was still relatively young, i don't get why they would just let him go unless there were some off the field issues, which to my knowledge weren't reported.

cool. i'm going too. before you head up, make sure the game is still on. they still haven't said anything so i'm guessing they are gonna try and play it (especially with it being an espn game).

I'm supposed to goto the Rays game on Thursday.. looking real forward to it. Although, I'm pissed - it was supposed to be a C.C. start but since the game got rained out yesterday, everyone is pushed back. Gonna be Pettite now

u sure? i thought Joe G said CC was gonna pitch every 5th day whenever possible... they skipped a Joba start because of that last month, didn't they?
GKFv2 @ 5/4/2009 7:14 PM
Why is the game delayed? It ain't even raining outside.

It sounded to me like everyone was just being pushed back a day. Hughes today, Burnett tomorrow, Joba Weds, Pettite Thurs.

Also, with the way Joba pitched last time out - I seriously doubt they even consider skipping him.

I was so pumped to see Sabathia!

w/the way CC's been pitching u might be better off watching Andy.

actually i think he's been steadily improving even tho he's giving up runs in key moments... his next outing should be stellar cuz his stuff is beginning to come around nicely... velocity is up & breaking stuff looks sharper than it did to begin the season.
TMS @ 5/4/2009 9:43 PM
damn, can we get in a game already so i don't have to watch another re-run of Yankeeography for the 4000th time?

Hughes gives up 2 runs already & we're not even into the 3rd... kid better settle down cuz u spot Lester 3 or more runs early & you're not likely gonna win that game.

To be fair, one of the runs was a passed ball by Molina and is unearned for hughes.
TMS @ 5/4/2009 10:05 PM
that was Hughes' runner on base that he walked & gave up a big double to Ortiz to set up that passed ball... if he settles down here he should be fine... Yanks are trying to rally now w/men on 1st & 3rd w/1 out in the 2nd w/Melky up.

Yeah...

Hughes still looks good, he's hitting all his spots and his breaking ball is looking real good. I know he's given up 2 runs, but he does look pretty good.
TMS @ 5/4/2009 10:07 PM
Melky looks at one right down the middle for strike 3... Lester's already got 4 K's in this game & we're not even out of the 2nd inning... Hughes better not give up ANY more runs tonight.
TMS @ 5/4/2009 10:09 PM
another K for Lester... that makes 5 in 2 innings... Lester's dealing... this might be over quick.
nyk4ever @ 5/4/2009 10:15 PM
Hughes now really struggling

i dunno, i must be watching a different game cuz in the first 2 innings the Sux hitters have been hitting the ball hard all over the field... 1 laser linedrive by Ellsbury right at Cano was 1 out, Ortiz creamed one down the line for a double, Lowell blasted one over the LF wall for a HR, Nick Greene just missed another HR deep on the warning track in Left CF... the only time he looked good was when he struck out Puke... so far 57 pitches, only 31 strikes, not that great a ratio... just walked another batter & behind on the count to Puke 3-1 w/0 outs... Hughes gotta settle down here... this Red Sux team can score runs in a hurry.
