Posada and Cabrera might both be back tonight. That would be great.
Bonn1997 @ 5/30/2009 9:49 PM
Carsten Charles is set to win his 4th straight decision.
djsunyc @ 5/30/2009 10:23 PM
veras should be sent to the antarctican league...

14W - 3L the last 17 games... Yanks are on a bigtime roll.

Bonn1997 @ 5/31/2009 1:09 PM
Jeez, Pavano still can be a very good pitcher when he has his head on straight.
Bonn1997 @ 5/31/2009 3:51 PM
Why isn't Wang still in? He was doing great and he can certainly go more than 3 innings. Man this is dumb.
Bonn1997 @ 5/31/2009 4:00 PM
Robertson over Mariano? Girardi's acting like he doesn't really want this game.
Allanfan20 @ 5/31/2009 4:06 PM
We lost the game and it was a bad loss but the reasoning is b/c Wang has to be available for Wednesday, in case Pettitte isn't available.
MaTT4281 @ 5/31/2009 4:42 PM
You'd think after watching Wedge pull Pavano too soon and watching that backfire, Girardi would have let Wang go one more inning.

Tough loss, but just bounce back tomorrow and take the series 3-1. I can definitely live with that.
Bonn1997 @ 5/31/2009 4:43 PM
Then they should have gone to Mariano (see next post). If you can hold them to 2 scoreless innings (9th and 10th), I'd say we have an 80 to 90% chance of winning. We have a great offense and they were deep into their 'pen.

And I thought Aceves was capable of starting anyway. The game had turned around and things were set up perfectly. Wang was unhittable and we were deep in their bullpen.
VDesai @ 5/31/2009 5:27 PM
In the short run a tough loss, in the long run a very important game as Wang has taken another step towards being an effective pitcher again.
Bonn1997 @ 5/31/2009 5:30 PM
Wang looks like himself. I think you have to put him back in the starting rotation. Hughes did have one impressive game but it's not like he's pitched great overall anyway.
Bonn1997 @ 5/31/2009 5:34 PM
Oh and btw, I love Mark Teixeira.
TMS @ 5/31/2009 7:10 PM
almost a nice comeback win but the Tribe did it to us this time... we lost a run on that horrible call at 1B on Jeter's slow grounder... Teix's 2 run HR should have been a 3 run HR & changed the complexion of this game.

nice job by Wang today, his sinker has nice movement now & he seems more confident in what he's throwing on the mound... he'll probably rejoin the rotation soon & Hughes will likely take his place in the bullpen as a long man... having both Hughes & Aceves as long men could be valuable down the stretch especially w/Joba on an innings count this year... personally i would prefer to just put Joba back as our setup man & keep Hughes as the 5th starter... i think that's our best combination to win the most ballgames.

posada double play was bad.

but the game was lost after coke let the leadoff guy on.

we went 14-3 in the past 17 games. i have no problems with him giving a kid like robertson a shot there. low risk, high reward.

imagine if tex ended up with boston - thank god...

hughes is developing. he's still striking out alot of guys and he's not collapsing. he needs to get away from that 1 bad inning...
mattshaw78 @ 6/1/2009 7:53 AM
Is it me or does posada hit into alot of double plays in his career.

He does, he's slow.
mattshaw78 @ 6/1/2009 8:50 AM
it also seem like he guess alot of pitches to hit or to take.

per gardner - he was given the steal sign but failed to steal. that would've kept us out of the double play and gave us the lead. he also misjudged the flyball in a center which cost a run too.

That was terrible. It was unlike him, though. Usually he's outstanding in the field.
