I dunno why they batted Swisher 2nd today. Anyway, the Yanks need to put some runs on the board right now with a man on and Tex and Arod coming up after this. Hopefully Swish can work a walk.
because he has a very high on base percentage and a lot of power?

But he's been in a monster >1 month slump and a had .586 OPS in May- would've batted Cano there, but there were several other good options.

aquino's pitching to arod was filthy. those were 4 very good pitches.

posada swinging at the first pitch - ugh.

but joba is still dealing...
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:12 PM
Yankees will put some runs on the board if they keep getting on base like this...

Not sure why Berroa started this game to begin with...or why he's still on the Yankees...
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:21 PM
Yankees load the bases again. You have to admire their patience at the plate. They are really close to breaking this open.

Come on Swish! Show me why the batted you 2!
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:22 PM
Swish will force this guy to throw strikes....and I don't think he can
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:23 PM
Swish smashes one off the wall for a 2 run double!
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:24 PM
They are going to load the bases for ARod!
GKFv2 @ 6/1/2009 9:29 PM
Luis Vizcaino sighting.
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:30 PM
ARod comes through with a 2 run single and Yankees plate patience pays off.
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:42 PM
My guess is that'll be all for Joba...a very nice start...throwing 98 mph well into the 7th inning.

He's a good hitter in a slump--all the more reason to change things up and put him somewhere where he'll see better pitches.
VDesai @ 6/1/2009 9:46 PM
Actually Joe doesn't have any one warming...Joba's under 100 pitches, but I'm not sure I'd be looking to push the envelop here...

Yanks get the win and set the record for 18 consecutive errorless games. Great game by Joba and a nice 9th by Mo. Yankees won this game with the plate patience- typical Yankee victory.

HOLY MOLY - that might've been the best play i've ever seen from a pitcher. that might've been one of the greatest plays ever. WOW.

i think the Lebron craze has had a lasting effect on dj

Nady will have to do as our pinch hitter on the bench until a better option comes along... Gardner is more of a late inning defensive replacement & pinch runner, i have a hard time imagining him pinch hitting for anyone on this team other than possibly Jose Molina... he's been playing much better of late tho, him & Melky have really stepped up this year & made that hole in CF seem so much smaller than we originally thought it might be... good job by those 2.

That's exactly it- you answered your own question. Who exactly do the Yanks need to pinch hit for on any given night? Unless the backup catcher is in or there are injuries somewhere else in the lineup its pretty much no one.

i didn't realize i was asking a question, thought i was answering someone else's... but if u say so.

we're poised to make a big time run. our pitching and defense is real solid - and our offense scores runs late in games.
TMS @ 6/1/2009 10:30 PM
Nick the Stick comes through today... missed a grand slam by about a foot... nice pitching by Joba today... he was very economical & the flies didn't bother him this time.

We're already in the midst of a big time run...Yankees looking like they have the best team in the league right now. Pitching staff cut down the walks and started going later in games. ARod gave the lineup the extra boost it needed. Right now they don't really have any major flaws 1-9 in the order and their starting 5 is really starting to shape up, as we now potentially have 6 viable candidates. If they make a move the first one will probably be for the pen....

Great job by Joba last night and a good rock solid game by the team overall last night. Lets see how both Joba and Hughes do against Tampa Bay and then Boston b/c both guys are in line for both teams.

The bullpen really needs to step it up. They've let the team down a few times, but I think it'll get straightened out. With that said, this is the best team in baseball. Also with that said, as of right now, I don't see beating the Red Sox in any games that are close in the late innings - their pen is the best in baseball. Coke needs to step it up and become Mike Stanton and Marte needs to come back and quit pitching like a pussy.
