Wang will have season-ending shoulder surgery.
I think his career is over. His foot led to hip problems and later shoulder problems. He clearly doesn't want to plant on his foot anymore. Which means his sinker won't sink and he's putting too much torque on other joints/tendons. I hope I'm wrong and I hope the Yankees give him a chance but if I could bet on it I 'd bet he's out of the league by the all star break next season
You may be right but that would be such a shame! He's only 29 and it wasn't too long ago that he was a very good pitcher.
Kay said the Yankees are gonna put Joba in the pen when he reaches 150 innings, regardless of how he's pitching. This sounds so stupid. What's with the babying? We finally get the guy on track and we're gonna send him to the bullpen so he wont pitch too many innings? Fail.

Im hearing some rumors of a 3 way deal:
Yanks Get: Halladay
Jays Get: Figgins and Vlad
Angels Get: Posada, Hughes, Melky
I cant see that as being a real trade that the Yanks would make midseason
Why would we need the Angels involved? And that's too much to give up since we're including Posada. Hughes for Halladay is a fair deal IMO and they're not gonna get a better pitching prospect than that. If they want Melky, they can take him. That's not a deal breaker to me.

look at how many young pitchers completely lost it and get hurt after 2-3 years in the league pitching big innings? look at the rays pitchers - nothing like they were last year - all those innings made a big difference. it's a dilemna if he continues this way and i woud assume they would change it up b/c pitching 100 pitches in 5 innings is far worse than 87 pitches in 7 innings.
I agree with DJ here and I'm sure they're basing this decision on careful research on the outcomes of previous young pitchers in the league.
Bruney has sucked ever since he went on the DL.
bruney is doing his best farnsworth impression...it all started when he talked trash about krod...
yanks have an offday next week - they can skip joba and pitch pettitte on regular day's rest. then pitch joba in the redsox series on 9 days rest instead of having mitre open up the series next thursday. i hope they are thinking the same thing.
I doubt Bruney's healthy. He's been on and off the DL all year and actually all career. The K-Rod thing is probably just a coincidence.

If they do pitch Joba, then the match-up is looking like - Joba vs. Halladay. The way Joba's been pitching, this should be a good game and should be hyped up since the media has been playing the Joba or Hughes for Halladay angle. I'm not sure where the media gets this stuff, but I'm sure that they will play it to justify the Yanks standing pat or that they should have made a play for Halladay. Personally, I think both clubs should stick with their home grown talent and continue to build. The Yanks minor league depth certainly hasn't hurt the club this year.

his location is off but his velocity seems to be there... not as much movement on his fastball either from what i can tell... it will come, he just needs to strengthen up again & work out some mechanics issues... luckily we're in 1st place right now & still have a ways to go in the season for him to do so.
George Mitchell should be investigated for clear bias. That Mitchell Report is just one huge joke. If Major League Baseball knew of Ortiz and Ramirez steroid use back in 2003, how can you not include them in your report? How much did baseball waste on that report and investigation.

that's what i said when the report came out... it was a sham, a complete farce... the Mitchell relation w/the Red Sox should have automatically discluded him from running this investigation to begin with... i don't care how respected he is, that's a conflict of interest pure & simple... now we see guys like Manny testing positive, & guys like Lou Merloni talking about how the Red Sox organization was educating its players on how to use roids w/o getting caught... it's a joke.

Brian Bruney scares the piss outta me now. No way do I want to see him in a big spot with the game on the line in the late innings. Same old story right now - we only have two reliable shutdown arms in the bullpen at the moment, Hughes & Mo (Coke and Ace have been pretty good but not on the level I'm talking about). No two ways about it, Cash needs to either add a big-time late-inning reliever OR a reliable middle-of-the-rotation starter (a guy that can matchup with another top team's #3 guy in a potential playoff series) which will then allow Joba to eventually head back to the pen. Given what we now know about the plans they have for Joba and his 150 inning limit, the latter seems more likely. We'll have to wait and see - looks like Cash is gonna make us sweat this out right up until tomorrow afternoon's deadline. We're too good a team and too close to possibly accomplishing something special in October - I don't see how he doesn't make a move here...
And just a little mention on this Papi/Manny PED scandal - I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on, you absolutely knew Papi was on that list. No question about it. I would've bet anything that he was. Manny too. Look, I've never been the biggest A-Rod guy here, but I'm glad he now has these two idiots to help shoulder the burden (2X for Manny now too). When you think back to all the nonsense Papi said at the time when the A-Rod news broke about being clean himself and then having the gall to even say that violators should be punished with up to a year ban from baseball, knowing damn well he was a perp. himself - so funny... And to all you dumb Red Sux fans out there that held up pictures of syringes and stuff at Fenway when A-Rod and the Yanks were in town, put that in your pipe AND GAG ON IT JERKOFFS!!!! Have fun dealing with this nonsense as you continue to slip away in the standings you dopes!!!!! HAHA!

I think Texiera will be MVP in the American League.
The argument about Joba I can understand but you do realize if Joba is still blowing guys away when it's time to put him in the pen that we are severely hindering our chances at going to the World Series, right? I mean, who is going to be your 3rd starter without a trade? Andy Pettite? Sergio Mitre? I like Pettite but he's no longer a 3rd starting pitcher. We would not get past the Red Sox if we put Joba in the bullpen at this point. And I wanted Joba in the pen when he sucked. But since the break he's been a completely different pitcher. If he keeps it up, putting him in there just makes no sense if we're serious about winning a title.

why don't we just wait till the time comes and see what the yankees do?
i'll take my chances w/Andy P as my 3rd starter in any playoff series if it comes down to it.

I'm starting to jump on this bandwagon myself. Or at least the give it a try wagon.
I wish he hadn't retired. I'm one of his biggest fans. Obviously it was a decision he gave a lot of thought too though.
