I like Marte but Joe's handling of the bullpen could cost them the game and the series. The Angels are good enough to beat the Yanks. Joe has to stop being a reactive manager.

The fact that they "worked out" doesn't make them smart and the fact that we won doesn't make them all that good.
Pinch running Guzman for Matsui in that spot - dumb. Not pinch hitting Hairston for Guzman 4 innings earlier - dumb. Wasting your long man in Aceves for one inning when you only have Robertson and a potential ALCS starter in Gaudin in the bullpen - dumb. Pitching a 39 year old Rivera for 2 innings and giving Joba and Coke one batter each - dumb.

the Manager's job is to put his players in a position to succeed... it's up to the players to execute on the field & get the job done... Girardi did his job tonight, & the players did theirs (w/the exception of a few bad errors by Cano & Jeter that we luckily got away with tonight)

Robertson was not in a position to succeed the inning before we won. He was stretched out for 2 innings. Thankfully he got an awful Vlad out.

"stretched out for 2 innings"? any major league pitcher should be able to give u 2 innings in a big spot... these guys arms won't fall off after 11 pitches.
