Hughes and Chamberlain have been exposed some here for their failure to execute on pitches.

Anyone that doesnt understand pitching let me explain it very simply. There are like 2 guys that can throw the ball over the plate in MLB and not get burned. There is a reason why Jaime Moyer keep winning throwin 85 mph fastballs and Joba's serving up doubles to a .200 hitter. You must execute your pitches and that means location.

we have two more shots this weekend. it's been a good series so far. last night's game turned into a classic in the 7th.

growing pains for hughes + joba. that hurt. that was our worst pitched game of the postseason.

and swisher is lost as lost can be.

the good thing is that melky is hitting now and tex got a few rips in.

andy + cc = if we don't win the next 2, then the angels own us.

tex has to get on b/c arod has to get as many at bats as possible.

Mike Scioscia's damn lucky his team won tonight cuz that move to pull Lackey was Grady Little-esque

This.
TMS @ 10/23/2009 2:07 PM
we really need to win game 6, cuz u don't wanna mess around w/a game 7 & u also wanna have CC available to start game 1 of the WS if at all possible... the pressure is on Andy to come through... there isn't another guy in this rotation i'd rather have on the mound in this situation all things considered than him.

not only that but why in the blue heck would you pull weaver for that lefty sissy mary?

ok...here's the weather question:

if the game gets rained out saturday, do you pitch cc on sunday so he can pitch game 2 of the series, or hold off cc for game 7 which would mean monday and he can pitch game 3 of the series?

i feel like i just had this convo a few monutes ago...WITH YOU!

def pitch cc on sun if game gets rained out saturday...
TMS @ 10/23/2009 4:27 PM
i stick w/Andy on Sunday if the game gets rained out on Sat... that way u still have CC as ur insurance policy for game 7 if u need it, or u still have the option to pitch him in game 1 of the WS if u win game 6.

couple days old, but here's an update on the Cuban fireballer

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/c...
Cuban star could be meeting with Yankees, Mets

By TIM BONTEMPS

Last Updated: 1:18 PM, October 22, 2009

Aroldis Chapman, the 21-year-old flame-throwing Cuban left-hander who defected during the summer, arrived in New York yesterday and is expected to meet with several teams over the next week. The Mets, Yankees and Red Sox are among the teams expected to have interest in signing him.

Chapman, who established residency in Andorra after defecting while playing in the World Port Tournament in The Netherlands in July, was declared a free agent last month. He should find himself in a similar situation to that of Jose Contreras, who became the subject of a fierce bidding war between the Yankees and Red Sox back in 2002. Contreras wound up with a four-year, $32 million contract from the Yankees that winter, which is expected to be a baseline in contract talks with Chapman.

Tonight's game's been rained out... rescheduled for tomorrow night at 8... Giants are playing at 8 tomorrow too... FAKK!
nyk4ever @ 10/24/2009 6:44 PM
What a fucking joke. They have a full day of sun on Sunday to reschedule the game to and they put it at 8:20? Fuck MLB.
Bonn1997 @ 10/24/2009 6:46 PM
Bummer. I was looking so forward to the game. I wonder if CC is gonna pitch game 6
TMS @ 10/24/2009 7:25 PM
looks like Girardi's sticking w/Swish for game 6... i seriously hope the extra day off helps him get back into the swing of things (no pun intended) cuz u can see in the clip he's just whiffing on pitches that are right down the middle, getting under them & popping them up or late & fouling them back... just a couple inches or a fraction of a second, hopefully Kevin Long can work w/him & get him back his timing like he did for Johnny Damon.

Agreed. Keep andy tommorow. Now what do you do if you're vdesai and paid an armload for giants season tickets??? Hopefully andy just closes it out and there is nothing to see. What sucks is now lackey can pitch in game 7 if it has to go that far.

Also yanks need to stay confident in hughes. Eiland was saying today that hpis mechanics are off and it a simple adjustment tto get back on track. On the otherhand joba has a .500 baa
TMS @ 10/24/2009 8:05 PM
looks like Lackey's only pitched twice in his career on 3 days' rest, so it's a small sample, but his stats are a mixed bag (1W - 1L, 4.82 ERA)... one thing i do like to see is he's got a high WHIP (1.714) which points to the fact he didn't have his best control in those 2 starts (6 BB & 10 Hits allowed in 9.1 IP)

http://www.baseball-reference.com/player...

as for Hughes, Eiland mentioned how Phil gets into this problem when he tries to rush through the ball, so maybe it's nerves... that might be a more difficult thing to fix in the postseason... i think Joba needs a new cap, that thing he's wearing now is filthy... someone hook him up w/a new cap!
TMS @ 10/24/2009 8:24 PM
Andy career #'s on 5 days' rest are pretty much the same as on regular 4 days' rest:
