Great game. AJ's pitched very well in three of his four post-season starts and could easily be 3-1. It looks like Girardi has completely lost faith in his set-up men, though, which surprises me because they were solid in the regular season. I can't imagine what Phil Hughes is thinking now that they wouldn't go to him even with a 2 run cushion.
AJ is the man. Lets see Pettitte follow through now.
Philly is definitely going to be hostile, so I think Pettitte is the perfect man to get us started over there.
But damn, to think there will be a game this series with Burnett, Molina, and Swisher/Hairston/Gardner at the bottom of the lineup. That's rough.
blanton to start game 4...

the Phillies have the advantage in the bottom of their lineup cuz both Feliz & Ruiz can pop one if they get a good pitch to hit, but Burnett is 4-0 with a 2.33 ERA when pitching on 3 days' rest over his career & that's pitching on teams that didn't have nearly as potent a lineup as the one we have, so there's something to be encouraged about.
worried about burnett on the road but i guess if you pay the guy that much money, he should be able to pitch. they need to suck it up and not be treated like pansies.

that's how it should go the rest of the way...
i think we'll rock blanton in game 3. The lack of a DH will be interesting though. How many AB's do you give Andy if it is a tight game and how does that work with Girardi's constant bullpen moves. I have a feeling that the need to sub hitters in for the 9th spot will be critical at some point this weekend.
Hinske, Gardner & Hairston should all see late action in just about every game we play in Philly due to late game double switches Joe makes when the pitcher comes up to bat, & i wouldn't be overly shocked to see Matsui playing the OF at some point during the games either.
won't be around for the game discussion, hopefully our offense breaks out tonight & gives Andy some support... Alex needs to start waiting for his pitch & stop swinging at stuff off the plate... Joba & Hughes, time for u boys to step up!
Andy pitching out of trouble. Good sign.
That hr was huge. That was a big call to overturn that in Philly.
Yeah!!! The bats finally are coming to life.
GREAT game so far! I was a little worried about Pettitte getting tired or out of breath from running the bases but that was about as light a trip around the bases as you could have.
mashed by arod but right to victorino.
wth is posada doing bailing them out there?!?!?
girardi proving again why he's the manager of a 103 win team. hairston gets a hit in game 2 and now he starts swish again and he has delivered. every run counts since we'll need the pen tonight.
You guys are missing a dramatic first half of Clippers-Mavericks.
how in the blue hell do we not re-sign matsui next season!?!?!?

1 game off did him good... Girardi made the right moves in both cases... hopefully he's off the shnide now & can hit the rest of the series... love how Matsui's stroking the bat right now (no bukkake inference intended)
up to the yankees to at least split this weekend. i am a mets fan and dont like the yanks but i hate philly more so go yanks!
