Actually, I'll take that back. Our offensive line has some areas that now cause for major concern.
TMS @ 9/20/2010 1:00 AM
after the way the Texans ran all over the Colts the way we couldn't get anything going on offense was an absolute joke... the defense was highly disappointing as well... just a plain ol' shellackin' we took from the best QB in the game tonight, & our offense looked pitiful & completely inept... they better get their act together for week 3.
SupremeCommander @ 9/20/2010 5:33 AM
they need to turnover the majority of the team... they tried to make it work in the offseason but, shit, this team's window was shot during the Plax incident. Following seasons have not been as good. They need to clean house and turn it over to younger guys. I'd cut/trade as many of the vets as possible and let some of the young blood get a chance
VDesai @ 9/20/2010 9:33 AM
Last night's game was a disgrace.
But that being said you can't overreact to one game.
The Giants had a bad gameplan on defense (only 2 DTs were active), and oversold that they would allow the Colts to run on them. Fewell will learn from this hopefully.
The biggest takeaway from the game is that the OL as currently constituted is not gonna be good enough to get to the playoffs. Fortunately the Giants have a pro-bowler in waiting (Shawn Andrews). If Andrews gets into the lineup and can't help the team I would start to panic a bit, but I do think he will make a big difference.

Giant's offensive line was terrible. The Colts played like a team that didn't want to start the season 0-2. I think they played extremely hard. The Giants offensive line was terrible I think the age factor is starting to come into play. Jacobs sucks as a running back. Twinkle toes needs to realize that he isn't a scat back and his job is to run over defenses not out run them.

Defense was lacking preparation again last week we called it, it wasn't great defense that they played but a terrible opponent. If not for the three INTs in the end zone they were getting whooped up on by the panthers. Next two game are at home got to make them into wins. Forget this one but learn from it if you want to beat the better teams you have to be prepared Giants were not prepared. Another thing is that the Colts are a very good home team tough to beat them in that stadium especially in their season opener and after a loss not going to happen.

Only good thing to come out of this was that the Giants showed them absolutely nothing, just in case they meet in the Super bowl.

TMS @ 9/21/2010 12:15 AM
Brandon Jacobs asking to be traded... maybe if he would have run harder last season he wouldn't be riding pine backing up Ahmad Bradshaw now... dude needs to wake the fug up & stop being a little primadonna & start running like he used to & win back that starting job... no one's handing anyone nothing in the NFL.
Allanfan20 @ 9/21/2010 12:50 AM
Man, it's hard to believe but Brandon Jacobs went from a pure bad ass that nobody could dislike, except the people he ran over, to a sissy that everyone dislikes, except his opponents. WTF? I actually used to call that guy my favorite player. Now I don't have one at the moment.
TMS @ 9/21/2010 2:35 AM
i'm just glad i didn't buy his jersey last year... dude has been a major disappointment since '08

he used to lower his shoulders & explode into the holes... now he's got no explosion... i dunno what happened... last year he used the injury excuse... this year he's crying because he doesn't like being a backup... i think he needs to get hungry again... that big contract he signed seems to have made him lose his edge.

SupremeCommander @ 9/21/2010 11:24 AM
this team will have a completely mediocre season again... crush the bad teams, get destroyed by the good ones
Vmart @ 9/21/2010 11:41 AM
Damn it I wish they had kept Ward he was the better running back not Jacobs.
VDesai @ 9/21/2010 11:53 AM
At this point he is more of a problem than is reasonable. Turning into a Jeremy Shockey situation to some degree. Problem is RB's have little trade value. We won't get much for him.

The Giants need Andrews to step in play really badly. I think thats the one thing that could save the team from being mediocre.

I don't think Fewell is Sheridan. He tried something a bit more extreme with his game plan and it wasn't the best idea, but I think he'll learn from his mistakes and we will be alright defensively.

I think Fewell deserves a pass. After all the year the Giants won the SB they started out 0-2 and gave up like 90 points in the first two games. Lets hope they turn it around. Few observations though. Tuck/Osi should be coming off the bench. Kiwi/Pierre-Paul need to start. I would like to see Sintim play more too.

VDesai @ 9/21/2010 1:51 PM
I don't agree with you on Tuck. He was outstanding in the Carolina game and is the only 2 way end on the team. He has to be in the lineup as much as humany possible. Pierre-Paul still has a long way to go.

As for Sintim they wanted to hand him the starting job this year and he proved he couldn't handle it. Whats resulted is we've seen a lot of Kiwi playing standing up at SAM and he's had a great start so far this year.

NYKBocker @ 9/21/2010 2:45 PM
The problem with the defense is that we are falling in love too much with our DEs and then we put 3 to sometimes 4 at a time in the line. I don't care how strong Tuck or Kiwi is, they are getting man handled in the point of attack and the other team ripping us a new one down the middle.

Fewell needs to get back to a more traditional setup where you have 2 300 lbers as your tackle and just have your DEs go all out every play when they are in.

OasisBU @ 9/21/2010 2:51 PM
They need to get Plaxico on work release and someone needs to tell BJ to strt playing for real again.

Strahan out of retirement would be nice too - sad the team is not as good as a couple years ago.

Tuck is decent at stopping the run, but his pass rushing skills have deteriorated in front of our eyes. Next game watch how many time he is near the QB. You will find that he is no where in the picture on most attempts. As for Osi that is one overrated player. Sintim needs more reps more he plays the more confident he will get. Kiwi is the best the Giants have on the D-line right now. Third down conversion rate is a direct reflection of a defensive line that can't get pressure on the QB. That last game the Colts D-line was relentless making Eli throw quick the Giants D-line needs to turn it up.

loweyecue @ 9/21/2010 8:14 PM
Our offense is the most predictable in the entire league. Run the ball the first two downs for no gain then hand Eli the ball for third and long with no pass protection. Now Jacobs seems lost and all the teams are always prepared for Bradshaw.

And our defense has totally lost its ability to pressure the QB, we used to lead the league in sacks, pathetic.

Tuck, if not being held, is definitely always near the QB. On third downs they generally move him inside to rush instead of off the edge. I agree with you on Osi - he only thinks about rushing the pasher and generally overpursues or takes to wide an angle and is taken out of the play. He hasn't been the same since the injury and was always a bit overrated before that.

I don't mind if his skills are just eroding. It's bound to happen to a 6'4" running back at a young age. He just wasn't going to enjoy a long time in his prime, whether you can accept that or not. I just don't like his bitching and this sudden bad teammate gig of his. That's f'in stupid to me. I thought he and Bradshaw were good friends.

The Juggernaut is declining similar to The Nigerian Nightmare. These big backs just don't have the longetivity a smaller back have. They are good for 2-3 years then the punishment they give and receive will take its toll.

didn't stop Jerome Bettis... i don't think his skills are eroding at the age of 28... that's silly talk to me... i think he just doesn't have the fire in his belly like he used to have.
