Good reflexes.

Haha. I won't get political, but he said he thought the shoe was a size 10.

yeah really... that was pretty impressive... lucky for him it was only a shoe being thrown at him.
MaTT4281 @ 12/14/2008 8:46 PM
I can't stand the man, and yes he has deserved to get smacked upside the face numerous times, but not even I can cheer for a moment like this. Disgraceful.
Bonn1997 @ 12/14/2008 8:48 PM
That was awesome. I wish both shoes had hit him

aw man it's not like the shoe was gonna kill him. It would just humiliate him in front of the world.

Terrible aiming! Especially on the second one!
Bonn1997 @ 12/14/2008 8:58 PM
I hope the guy doesn't get in any trouble. He was just providing us with some entertainment.

i agree... it's wholly disrectful to our country as a whole to have some idiot throwing his shoes at our President, no matter how much u might not agree w/his politics... i don't think any country would appreciate an American reporter showing the same disrespect to a leader from a foreign nation.
Bonn1997 @ 12/14/2008 9:03 PM
I feel more disprespected by George Bush than by the shoe-thrower

If this were an attempt on his life, then I would be inclined to agree with you guys. Its not just about disagreeing with his politics. Personally, I find Bush to be a contemptable man and he has run a despicable administration. Shoes thrown at him? Not only was it hilarious, but he should consider himself lucky thats all people are trying to do to him.

If this happened a couple of weeks ago, I would say that they should give that cat a spot on in the Mets bullpen. Homeboy was throwin' gas.

I agree. This just lowers the respect level for the position even more and makes Obama's role even harder.

Obama is younger and quicker. I'm sure he'd be able to avoid any object that Bush can. I doubt he'd even be facing a similar scenario though anyway.

We can get him to come back up Eli?

I guess I just see things differently. To me this is an attack on Bush the person and a statement on his mangling of the presidency. I dont see this as an attack on America or the title of U.S President.

Straight up, Bush is not a good person. I feel sorry for the lives he's ruined.

IMO the way to express ur displeasure w/a foreign dignitary's politics is through protests, writing a letter or by voting him out... u don't throw your shoes at him at a nationally aired press conference in front of your own country's leaders unless u're a crazy radical... that's the same kinda irresponsible mentality that causes some idiots to strap bombs to their waist & blow themselves up in a crowded hotel to prove some kinda point that their cause is just... i don't care if this guy had his family killed as a result of the War in Iraq either... i wonder if grieving mothers of soldiers killed in the war would even stoop to this level... i feel sorry for the lives he's ruined too but IMO this is a much larger show of disrespect than to just 1 man... you would think getting a crazy oppressive zealot like Sadam Hussein out of power would be a good thing for the Iraqi people but this man obviously thinks different.

different people, countries play under different rules. who are we to say that the Iraqis should 'write letters or vote him out'. it was a valid protest, culturally acceptable. i don't that it was shameful to them. we can't judge their practices according to our standards.
