Just saw it on the bottomline of ESPN. Buster Olney reporting it.
I'm not a big Tex fan at all... the guy was more interested in playing with the Nationals or the Orioles until the Yankees probably blew him away with money.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story...Free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira has reached agreement with the New York Yankees on an eight-year contract worth more than $170 million, a source involved in the negotiations tells ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.
The Yankees swooped in on Teixeira on Tuesday when it was believed the Boston Red Sox or the Washington Nationals were the likeliest of his future employer. The Red Sox's offer was believed to be in the range of $170 million, and the Nationals reached out with an offer perhaps greater than that of Boston.
With all that said about my feelings for Tex and how I don't like him at all. I really feel there is something missing with him...
Who bats 3rd, Tex or Arod?
WOW - cashman is a STEALTH MOFO!!!!
Oh man, I was just checking on this and there was nothing. Red Sox nation must have just crapped the bed
Yank are recession proof.
John Henry got him a hedge fund. He might have to cut back.
Better fill that damm stadium.
Maddoff made off with 300mil of wilpons money. I don't how he got it, but thats still a good some of money.
Anyone know how much over last year they are spending. No Moose, No Giamibi, and no petite I guess its not that bad. 8 ears for Tex is a big number.
We going for Manny now? Our own allstar team!!
I just hope this guy has the cajones to play in a market like NY. Mark was more interested in staying with the Rangers last year before he found out that they were not going to be able to sign him to the long-term deal that he wanted and then asked to be traded. To me that just says the guy doesn't want to win.
I know he can hit and I know he can field, but it takes something else to play in NY. I hope this works out.

No Abreu either. I think going into this offseason we were going to shed 85 mil in deals.
We're playing with Monopoly money. I would think that there is no way they'll sign Manny now.

everybody knows that money doesn't buy championships and the world series goes to the team that's on a roll in october.
but this is without a doubt the best offseason in yankee history.

It's insane the kind of players that are the team.
When you look at the rotation and the starting lineup, it doesn't look real....
LETS GO YANKS!

Please DJ. What player Tex's age didn't idolize Mattingly. The guy was more interested in staying in Texas 1.5 years ago and only chose not to when they didnt give him the 170 he eventually got from the Yanks.
I'm just sayin...
