Let the bukkake jizz fest begin...
Marv@ 7/1/2009 2:43 PM
people said when he was drafted he's too slow in getting off his jumper for this league. so far it looks like they're right.
EnySpree@ 7/1/2009 2:49 PM
I remember cats having a heart attack for not drafting this dude....Now he may just be a victim of a team with tons of depth....remains to be seen....but like nba exec said about Darko "he is what he is"....
Bottom line is Donnie Walsh either reads internet forums or is just a student of the game and just as much as a basketball nut as any of us....D'antoni needs shooters??? He goes out and signs the one guy BBall fans have been crying about since he was drafted....Donnie knows what he is doing.
NYKBocker@ 7/1/2009 2:52 PM
It looks like most of the players he invited to the SL team can shoot.
earthmansurfer@ 7/1/2009 2:56 PM
Wow, Morris Almond is on the team! That is some good news. I know many of us here wanted to see how he would do in this system. I hope somebody can record the games and upload them for us... Cosmic, oh Cosmic, is that possible?
kam77@ 7/1/2009 2:59 PM
Where did you hear this?
EDIT: Oh i see REALGM.

WOW! Marv hits 10,000 AND we got Morris Almond on our Summer league team in the same day? Am I winning the lotto tonight?
crzymdups@ 7/1/2009 4:25 PM
good signing.
fishmike@ 7/1/2009 4:44 PM
Moris Almond: 6'6 220, with a 6'10 wingspan. 14 DLeague games last year he scored 24ppg on 52% and shot 40% from downtown (4 shots a game). His draft measurements show he's very very athletic, 35.5 max vert, 3.19 court sprint... you get it. Good shot of making the roster.
BRIGGS@ 7/1/2009 4:50 PM
I always thought the guy was an Allan Houston clone. He is very tall and strong SG like Houston and gets his shot off effortlessly from any angle or distance like Houston with the same great form and balance. I think he makes the Knicks and really is like an additional first round pick.

Hmm... where did I hear that one before?

Sometimes a player just doesn't fit a certain system or is never given ample time to make it into the system. I was high on Almond when he came into the NBA. Lets see what he can do in a free flowing system like the Knicks. Another thing I don't want to read into it but could he be Chandlers replacement in a possible deal?

jesus christ quit your bitching. This signing just bought us a free one month pass of no Anthony Randoph posts. An athletic 6'6 shooting guard with a 6'10 wingspan in motion coming off screens? Sounds good to me... all we need now is a PG :)

Hey we gave the bum Roberson a spot last year and I don't think he's in the same galaxy as Almond. Every team needs bench guys that can bring NBA level shooting. Is he any worse than a J. Kapono who really doesn't have any other NBA skill aside from shooting?
He's young and talented and he does what is most important in an MDA player ... SHOOT. His form looks great and in our system if he's camped out at one corner with Gallo on the floor at the same time I can imagine that he should get plenty of open looks. I hope he makes the team. I love 6'6" Pure SG's.

Like Darko, another no-lose pick-up. Nothing not to like- if he fits we find a gem, if not, he is back in the DL or lands on another team.
One question- What happened with Von Wafer last year was puzzling. Was he just on loan to us for the SL and another team's property, or could we have actually signed him instead of Roberson? I know that he did not have the greatest SL with us, but he ended up playing a big part on a playoff team. Pretty big blunder on our part- or were there some issues we had with him that I was unaware of.
TMS@ 7/1/2009 5:19 PM
Von Wafer would have been a better option than Roberson clearly... so would Ewing Jr.
Pharzeone@ 7/1/2009 5:25 PM
Knicks gave Roberson a verbal committment after SL squad practices. MDA had a crush on him for over two years but Colangelo stood in his way. LOL, I wish I was making it up but it is true. Per Donnie and MDA he never missed in practice.
TMS@ 7/1/2009 5:33 PM
i bet Allan Houston still never misses in practice either
