Any thoughts about turning the forum into a Google Wave powered site? It seems like a message board would be an ideal application of Google Wave's capabilities.
If you guys don't do it, you know someone else will!

not intentional!
I'm serious about Google Wave. Are you looking into it?
Time will tell but I don't think Google Wave will ever take off outside San Francisco. Its a good idea but its for a different crowd.

I just checked out Wave and watched the preview vid, and I gotta say, I am stunned. The features are comprehensive and astonishingly well thought out. I can see this equaling the end of Outlook, over time. This is going to explode!!
Google have taken new media to a whole new level. I hate twitter, fb etc. which I just see as conversations for peeps with low attention spans or self-esteem issues, but this thing is tremendous.
Kam, I see what you mean about using it for forums, but I reckon theres a little time before they perfect an app to use it seamlessly in a forum environment.
Seriously dumbstruck by what Google put together.
Be warned, its over an hour long. Only for serious techies.

this is the same as any other Groupware. It will go only as far as your community.

Watch the vid Silver. Theyre making the framework open-source, so any company in the world can be @wave. So you can "wave" to someone on another provider, company provider etc. Not only that, but unlike email, the waves arent restricted to 1-to-1 email, you can add blogs to a wave, keep half private half open, edit docs as a group, upload photo albums. This application is like, Twitter, FB, Flickr and Outlook all rolled into one. If it comes out the way they want, it will be a whole new era.
This is serious stuff. Theyre not keeping this Google, theyre trying to change the way the entire web community communicates.

I watched it when it first came out. I understand the potential, I really do. I am excited about it too but it comes down to your community. Someone will have to develop off the API and apply it to your community. Your users will have to learn groupware. The cool thing is they are building a platform.
Right now very few people have tried it out. I know a few that have and they loved it. I loved what I saw but its so pre-beta is not even funny. Time will tell. I hope you are right but I doubt it will ever be mainstream.

The difference is that low post count gives you self-esteem issues which you then need to work out using Twitter. And as for low attentio...., hey look a butterfly!!

From what I saw, they will try to make it world-wide, and unconstrained by any specific group. I dont believe that they are developing it as a community/business tool, rather as a tool which can incorporate all those things and more. Basically, what I saw leads me to believe that they want it to be the new email. Evidence of this can be seen at the end of the vid where Lars says you can see the uses of Wave from "plain vanilla email to IMs to photos and other rich media". So they want to try and make it accepted as a new and hugely improved Outlook.
You dont agree?
Oh and BTW, that inline language translation robot is utterly unbelievable.

Low post count is a global self-esteem killer
