still trying to figure out the alternate timeline stuff.
it looks like that's how life would be w/o jacob's influence and when the island is destroyed, their memories get sent to the alternate timeline versions of themselves.
so when smokey tells sayid he can see nadia, it's b/c he will send his soul(?) to the other timeline.
last few episodes have been weak
all i could think about after last night's show is that we are eventually going to build up to a confrontation between Jack and Locke (smokey).
and then all i could think of was the line: "I wish you would have believed me"
Jack might be on Jacob's side now, maybe not so much now, but it appears that he will be eventually. but when Jack is confronted with the new Locke, will he believe him?

what do you think of dead and buried locke possibly being resurrected?
hasn't even crossed my mind. i think i've accepted that locke is dead. maybe that's an upcoming twist.
i like the ambiguity over who the real bad guys are. the writers do it so well. i'm not exactly convinced that jacob is the good guy.
Jacob was one of Jackie Treehorn's thugs in The Big Lebowski. He dunked the Dude's head into the toilet while Woo pissed on his carpet.

neither am i...both are using people for their own interests.
but it may go much deeper than that. i think both jacob and smokey need to exist for balance. if smokey leaves the island, then the balance is disrupted and everything goes nuts.
or...our losties must reject both of them and do things their own way...
one thing i noticed is that there are very interesting biblical parallels between the characters Jacob and Locke and the Old Testament God and the Devil / Jesus.
Jacob reminds me of the old testament god, the one who would make his followers do things on faith, blindly. he made Abraham (could be someone else, i don't know) go to the mountain top to sacrifice his son, only to reveal it was just a test of faith. similarly, Jacob won't explicitly tell jack what he has to do. he's making jack a believer. he never told Richard Alpert what he had to do.
Locke on the other hand is very similar to the devil in the old testament (or more controversially, Jesus of the new testament). Locke promises answers. like the devil, he wants to free people from their blindness. eat the fruit of knowledge and open your eyes the devil says. follow me and i will tell you everything you want to know, says Locke. Locke, like Jesus, turns the other cheek, responding to violence peacefully when both Sawyer and Sayid attack him.
granted, there are very many holes in my analogy, i still think it's kinda interesting to examine. perhaps we are dealing with a trinity here.
in addition:
interestingly, it was the devil with his fruit of knowledge that got adam and eve banished from the Garden of Eden. similarly, we have Locke trying to lead an exile from the island perhaps by equipping the losties with the knowledge that Jacob has been hiding.
the show has painted smokey as bad and jacob as good. but the show is also one to pull the long con.
it's possible both entities are bad as jacob let nadia die and struck a deal with dogan to save his kid but he must serve jacob's bidding.
jacob's influence also made sawyer continue to write that letter and seek vengeance his entire life. and prevented kate from getting caught stealing as a kid so she never was punished for it.
not to mention jacob's conniving ways to get hurley and jack to the lighthouse.
i'm not sure what to make of both. from the premier of season 5, the man in black seemed like he was tired of the "game" they both were playing and just wants out...while jacob is willing to keep playing.
another quick observation:
kate's flashsideways - she looks in the mirror for a while
locke's flashsideways - he looks in the mirror for a while
jack's flashsideways - he looks in the mirror
all 3 end their off island timelines with a happy resolution
sayid's flashsideways - he never looked at a reflection of himself/mirror
dude got "claimed"...

this is from doc jensen's recap on ew.com
But hey, I don’t want to leave you on a bleak note, so let me offer this ray of hope. Remember earlier when I talked about how Saul saw Jesus, was blinded with scales, and then three days later the scales fell off and he could see clearly again? From that day forward, Saul became a new creation. He called himself Paul. Now, check this out. Remember before the season began, when ABC released a trio of images that had the cast of Lost replicating Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting of The Last Supper? According to tradition, Jesus’ final meal with his disciples occurred on Thursday evening. The next day, on ’'Good Friday,’' Christ was crucified. Jesus was taken off the cross at sundown (although it had been oddly dark all day) and placed into a tomb. From there, the Christian messiah, God’s only begotten son, is said to have descended into hell to give Satan the finger. Sundown. Son Down. Now, think back to the season premiere, ’'LA X.’' The castaways arrived back on the Island in the evening. Last night’s episode was the first time we’ve seen evening on the Island since then, and based on what we’ve seen, I think it’s safe to say that only one day has passed since Team Jughead was uploaded to Island 2007. Oh, and in case you weren’t keeping track, Lost’s last season is now one-third complete. Six hours of Lost 6.0 = 1 day on the Island. 18 hours on Lost 6.0 = 3 days. If we say that ’'LA X’' was Maundy Thursday, and if ’'Sundown’' was Good Friday, then will the show’s final hour be... Easter Sunday. And you know what happened on Easter? Resurrection. I’m telling you, folks, Alpha, the god of beginnings is coming back to balance the scales, but this time he’ll be wearing a whole new body, because he’s going to be a whole new creation: the resurrected John Locke.
not a bad find. makes me feel like my two bit theory might actually be on to something.
so any thoughts from tuesday night's episode? it looks like the sides are aligning w jack and the good guys making camp by the beach. i think jin will ultimately join them on the beach but not sure yet where kate and sawyer end up. i dont see them aligning with anyone to be honest - maybe on their own or a joint long con with the two of them playing playing locke to get themselves off the island for good.
dont know how i felt about the whole benjamin lynus episode - seems like he redeamed himself int he real life side by chosing to help alex over helping himself. so now what, he's a good guy that's mended his eveil ways? i liked him a whole lot better when he was being a badass, now he's just kinda pathetic if you ask me.
llana is a piece of tail.
looks like we're gonna get richard's story soon.
and i think widmore is not the guy jacob was referring to as coming to the island. i think widmore is there to help smokey. he gives him the sub to leave the island and in exchange, he gets to take over the island. so there will be another ben + widmore showdown.
i think desmond is the guy jacob is referring to.
i can see sawyer and kate leaving everybody and becoming adam + eve in the caves - maybe they will turn the donkey wheel to leave?
so what did we all think of last night's epi? cant believe sawyer is a damn cop - that took me for a HUGE loop. one thing is for sure w him tho, he's got both locke and widmore thinking he's on their side - sawyer pulling the long con on both of them.
btw - the most intriguing thing to me this season so far has been how they keep tying the losties to each other in the flash sideways stuff. so curios how they're gonna pull that all together by the end of the season.
next week should be the most revealing episode of the season yet - finally get to know why richard hasnt agend in 300 f'in years - also, we'll finally undertand what the island is all about.
tonight's episode is definitely the best episode since season 2 and maybe the best episode ever.. just awesome.

'wanna know a secret jack...we're all in hell!" awesome episode and glad we got the ricardo storyline in place. the whole jacob/mib thing gonna get real interesting from here on out.
I got this off another forum-
We buried this at the bottom because we don't want spoilerphobes to be tempted. But allegedly a crew member from the
Hawaiian set of Lost has gotten a hold of the last two pages of an un-watermarked series finale script and released them on
the internet. I'm not sure if I think they're real or not (it can't end that way, can it?) but take a look for yourselves.
very good episode last night that opened up even more possibilities. i am a little cautious that they will not rush the last few shows with answers shoved down our throat. the big advantage of this season is the pacing which has been wonderful so far. bringing desmond back was great as i think, besides jack, is the most heroic of all characters. he has stuck his neck out time and time again to save everyone and even sacrificed his life to protect the island. it is only right that he will come back to do it again. the only thing that i have a problem with is that he was part of the oceanic flight when he wasnt originally. there must be a tie in somehow.
