here, here! c'mon man, I want to enjoy the Melo era with someone who was able to see the forest for the trees

understood. it gets tiring talking about the same crap, which has more to do with egos than logic. hope to see you around here more, once people stop trying to think Gallo and Co is a dynasty foundation

you're right, it gets real old... it's funny cuz before i left i got killed for being overly repetitive by a few posters but i still see the same individuals going on & on & on about the same crap over & over... they'd rather complain about losing Timo Chamberlain than they would be happy about getting a player like Carmelo Anthony... even funnier when you read some guys who killed Melo calling him second rate & all this nonsense before & now they completely jumped ship over to the Melo camp after the deal was made so shamelessly & blatantly... & not even a single Man up thread... i'm disappointed to be honest bro. ;)

More people are happy about the deal at UK than aren't so don't let it get you down. Strength in numbers so stick around!

my favorite was GKF saying Melo was half a step better than Zach Randolph. Ha! Everyone was keying into BS numbers to justify why this team should keep key components to a team that couldn't execute--and win. Ridiculous.

no man up threads... so I just bump my satire thread from time to time

TMS @ 3/7/2011 11:38 PM
Just as well, I just started working again so don't get the chance to post much anyway... plus now there's like 10 peeps on my ignore list now half the threads are hidden from view lmao
DrAlphaeus @ 3/8/2011 12:09 AM
Welcome back dude!

Yea, I was out of mourning by the time Anthony and Billups were on the dais in their warmups getting introduced by Guitar Jimmy.

But, whenever I miss the yoots, I just fire up NBA 2K11 and give the Nuggets some burn.

TMS @ 3/8/2011 8:02 AM
thank you doc... i'll be around but not gonna be posting as much as before... y'all probably tired of my rantings anyway... except for the bukkake posts, i have a sneaky suspicion that's what this was all about. ;)

speaking of 2K11, i'm 6-0 since the Melo trade & Denver is 2-3... Felton & Wilson are starting for the Nugs doing pretty much what they did for me before the trade, Gallo has become their 6th man & Timo was just sent down to the D Leagues.

btw, Rautins is a beast in the D-Leagues, he's putting up double doubles like there's no tomorrow. lol

I hated the Melo trade and do now.... but I have always liked Melo. I still don't put him in LeBrons league, which has always been my arguement.

Two things about him. One that has pleasantly surprised me, and one that has dissapointed me.

His effort on defense has been very good and he's been hustling and making hardnosed plays. He's getting on my good side because of this. If it weren't for that, he'd already be on my bad side, because of this.

The guy is a 1 on 5 player. He's extremely incredible at it, but that's his game, and it's not enjoyable to watch IMO. He grabs a rebound on defense, takes the ball up the court and goes for a score. Or in one case today, he got a steal, after Memphis got the rebound, and got the ball back all the way to halfcourt, then went one on one from there. Again, he's incredibly good at it, but it's also painful to watch for a basketball enthusiast like me. His game is what his game is though, and you just have to accept that, because it sure isn't changing and he's a Knick.

talent wise i don't put Melo in Lebron's class either, who is? Kobe, Dwight? but if u ask me who i think is a better money player & big shot making closer than i take Melo every time over Lebron... & Melo's easily as good as any other player you can name IMO, including guys like Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Derrick Rose, CP3, etc. we've had this discussion many times already... we just agree to disagree on this issue.

i agree Melo's been putting forth good effort on defense & he's passing the ball willingly, but those are not things i ever doubted about him to begin with, i've already seen him play good defense on Kobe in the WCF & he's made some very impressive passes in games he's played... i don't ever expect him to be Magic Johnson or Larry Bird out there with the ball but he's not a black hole like Zach Randolph was, not even close.

as for Melo being a 1 on 5 player, how did u feel when you watched Patrick Ewing pound the ball in the post on every single possession back in the day & force up shots against double coverage? was that painful to watch for you too? i only ask cuz i wanna get a sense of the type of basketball you'd like to see played in NY... not all great players that have played for us were well adapted to ball movement & crisp passing... Melo does what he does & does it better than just about everyone in the NBA... to have a player like him on this team is something to get excited about for me as a fan who's suffered through many lean years rooting for "franchise talent" that never had the talent to make us even a respectable NBA franchise... since '99 we haven't had talent we could really be proud of until now IMO... there were times us Knick fans tried to talk ourselves into believing that the talent we had was good enough to contend with, but if i'm being honest i have to say i never honestly felt this team was a legitimate contender until now since the '99 team that made the Finals.

Nalod @ 3/10/2011 8:34 AM
I am not a huge fan of the deadball Ewing era and turned a bit sour on him when he rejected the Nelson era to open the game up. He won the battle and we had years of JVG which did provide much excitement but the games were not always pretty.

Im seeing the game opening up a bit and TD for all his warts is doing a good job. No, he is not Rainman or Billups but is effective for his shot.

Last nites big shot was big because Melo got the ball on the wing and nobody doubled him. If so it would have sprung Amare free.

The key is when Miami goes iso at the games end its lebron at the top of the key.

TD gets way too much critique around here but he made the big pass. A simple pass but still it did the job. Get Melo isolated on the wing and do what he does. Game was tied so we were still in good shape.

And Jeffries deflected the opp pass to seal the game.

Small plays but still deserve the prop!

Sure we made mistakes down the stretch but thats why leads are so important on road games. Teams come back at home and the ref's were not helping us.

Last nite was a big big win!

I would really like to have SSOL with a complete roster. Come crunch time you have what it takes to seal the game, but SSOL for part of the game could be cool. Second unit?

See what the future holds.

SupremeCommander @ 3/10/2011 12:16 PM
I think it is straight up ridiculous to hate the trade because Melo isn't in LeBron's class... How many times in NBA history has a trade like that happened? Oscar Robertson? Kareem Abdul Jabbar? Shaq?

I'm glad I'm your favorite.

I like how people here go out of their way to try and prove someone else wrong. Then they expect others to come out and announce it like it really matters. What is it with all this machismo here? "OH YOU BETTER MAN THE F UP BRO YOU'RE WRONG!!!". Who cares? I'm not Charles Barkley or some random outsider spectator and neither is anyone else who chooses to have separate opinion from you. Unfortunately anyone who does have a separate opinion is deemed unworthy by you. I'm a fan who roots for the team. I don't need to see failure so I can be happy. If the team wins it's all good. People like TMS who complain about people celebrating wins as "shameless" is what makes this forum unbearable at times. It's this lame you vs. me attitude when we're all fans of the same team. This whole "oh I'll show you!" crap that has been going for a long time here. Someone always trying to one-up someone else. It's annoying. You try and have a debate and then it turns into sections of the forum split into two and acting like little kids over it. We are fans of the same team. At last I know I am. This stuff - this "my opinion is better than yours" garbage - needs to end.

I'm not afraid to admit I'm wrong. I've done it numerous times. Usually when I am wrong I'm even ecstatic about it because it means the team/player is doing well. I do not need to make "man up" threads about it. What's the point of this? Are we still in middle school? I'll usually bring it up in a thread somewhere myself and say I'm wrong and if someone later questions me again I'll say it again. I don't need to make an announcement like my opinion matters that much. I also don't need to make an announcement so a few people on a message board can get their rocks off. When I'm wrong, I am wrong. Right now? I am not wrong. I'll be wrong when this team advances in the playoffs this year, next year, whatever year and Carmelo Anthony is leading the way with his defense. That is when I'll be wrong. And maybe you can blame D'Antoni for the defensive performance. But as of right now I do not think I am wrong about the importance of defense, which is my main argument of the trade.

For the record, I never said Carmelo was a half-step up from Zach. I said he was a full step up. Maybe he's even better than that. The only reason he isn't is because his defense is still lackluster at best and awful at worst. The trade did nothing to address major weaknesses in size and defense. Guys like Lebron and Wade have been on 1st team All-Defense teams. Carmelo hasn't. He's been an amazing scorer thus far...but little else. The assists he's gotten recently are good. Hopefully he can be a consistent playmaker and get others involved. That will start making up for his poor defense. I disliked the trade because of the amount we gave up, not the players we gave up. I've sat here and discussed this trade so many times that I am sick of it. I moved on and I'm supporting the team. I am a fan of the Knicks, not a fan of Gallinari, Mozgov or anyone else. I support this team through thick and thin. Sorry I don't have hidden agendas like others here.

for the record, i never direct any of my comments towards you, your opinion is not something i've ever concerned myself with... the comment about shameless flip flopping on the Melo trade was in response to being ripped by random people for supposedly always proclaiming i'm right... well i'm having a little fun with those who think they should never be challenged on anything they've said regardless if their proclamations about Melo have been proven to be offbase... you obviously seem to feel you fall under that category because i've never singled you out on anything i've ever posted on these forums.

regardless i'm not sure how an off the cuff comment made by SupremeCommander motivates you to write up some long diatribe about how i make your posting experience unbearable, but you obviously have a need to vent on things i guess if i'm gonna be the target of your frustration so be it... i noticed you're usually very angry in most of the posts you make on this forum but you get testy whenever someone flips the script on you & responds in kind... just a note, if i make this forum unbearable for you i told you before i should be on your ignore list obviously you're bothered by things i have to say, you're not being forced to read them, or maybe you should create a new screenname to post under so my viciously venomous posts don't effect you as much... & please don't even start in with the "true fan" garbage i've probably been a fan of this team longer than you've been alive.

Childs2Dudley @ 3/13/2011 8:54 PM
Honestly, what are you talking about? Do you even read what I write? I mentioned you and your complaining in one sentence of a very long post not directed primarily at you and you wrote back 2 paragraphs including something about "true fans" which I have no idea what you're talking about.

Instead of seeing a big block of text and automatically thinking I am insulting someone, maybe you should re-read it and understand it because it is clear that you did not judging by the response. The response you gave is something I am talking about on this forum. I am not taking anything personal. I'm not angry when I post. I just post. I don't take anything seriously here. I'm not the one that left the forum because someone made fun of "starphuck". I am talking in general terms about the attitude of this forum, me included. It needs to change and stop being so childish. If you personally feel insulted by my post then ignore it. But to not read it and comment it and insult me doesn't do anything. I didn't write that post so you could insult me, critique me or anything else. I wrote it to get a message across.

TMS @ 3/13/2011 9:59 PM
first of all get it straight the reason i left had nothing to do with any definition of what a starphucher was so let's stop spreading lies on a message forum... people have thrown jabs at me for years i never left over anything someone posted at me on a message forum long before u ever showed up believe me nothing u or anyone else will ever say to me on an internet forum will motivate me to stop doing what i enjoy, but when you reach the point where u feel like the owners of the site are taking active part in the ridicule i decided for myself it was probably time to move on... my constant posting probably wore thin on many including yourself, but i make no apologies for that to anyone... everyone here is repetitive in their posts, that's what being a passionate fan is all about, we all have strong opinions & not easily swayed to change them... to suggest that i make your posting experience unbearable is a little ridiculous to me, i don't know what you expect when you post on a message forum but the content of my posts are never geared towards inciting a reaction out of you i rarely if ever single anyone out by name in any of my posts unless i'm making a direct reference to a thread made by a certain individual & commenting on it... & i certainly haven't thrown any insults your way, not quite sure where u get that from... if bringing up the subject of you changing screennames is what you consider an insult, it's the truth you have changed your screenname 3 different times now why are you offended if i bring it up?

personally i think it's a little odd for u to act like ur style of posting is never offensive, IMO it's highly provocative i've noticed u getting into it with a lot of posters here so let's not throw stones if you live in a glass house (or however that saying goes)... but i really don't care if you change your style of posting or not, that's how you choose to present yourself that's up to you... not sure why u or anyone else would want me to change my style of posting i'm not personally offending anyone with any inflammatory threads like the one Nalod posted poking fun of my repetitive posting style & inciting negative reactions towards me from other posters... to me that's what you call childish behavior, the sorta stuff that you were commenting about in your diatribe that you despised... funny that you didn't choose to lecture Nalod over this but you chose to wait til now to voice your feelings on the issue.
