Crawford and Curry threads?
Like the old days in here.
Except Jamal is a two while Shawne is a three or four. If Williams is out there w/ Melo and Amare, there's a matchup problem for us. I like Williams but he is not the asset that Crawford is. Plus we NEED a two guard.
Also we can finally say with confidence that this Knicks team is definitely headed to the post season. So we need to look ahead to what will put us over the hump in that more intense atmosphere. A legit dangerous scorer, who can also facilitate at times, like Jamal is way more valuable than an effective role player who can be shut down by being taken off his 1 or 2 spots. Craw's creativity and sheer talent will be far more valuable when the pressure's on than Williams.
remember when "larry tha leo" would start CrawFiz threads, prompting scott layden to trade for crawford and marcus fizer from the bulls.
#the good old days
Saw Jamal play with ATL a few times live and on TV and he was very impressive.
As the third option he is very effective.
Isiah is gone, everyone can breath.

That 41pts 15ast 4reb stat line was really cool! Atl will miss him.

Hopefully his next similar line is in blue and orange.
Its a good sign that Craw is still considering us. Not only does it show NY is still in his heart, but more importantly, he can sense the same thing we sense: this team has a chance to do something really special this season. He could be a big part of it, since whether he starts or comes off the bench, he will be our best guard, our third option and make it a Strong 4.

the only way I'd want him on the team if he led the second team offense. It's an important role, and I think Fields' rebounding and hustle would benefit the starting lineup best.
TD/Bibby
Fields/Crawford
Melo/Jeffries
Amar'e/Jeffries
Chandler/Jordan/Jeffries
The second team would provide guard heavy offense, and the contract would be difficult to play against.
I do not like the idea of Melo/Amar'e/Craw playing extended minutes together

I agree - Crawford to lead the 2nd team offense - 6th man role. I think he accepts that role as that is what he did for Atlanta the last 2 years.
Our 2nd team depth is weak at SF/PF - other players you didn't mention are:
Shump. - G
Bill Walker - SG
Jorts C
Balkman SF but will he ever see any PT???
We need another PF/SF - We really need Shawne back.

Pardon my hangover, not including Shump was an error
Jorts/Jordan are interchangeable but I don't really want to see both in the rotation. I think Jordan's international experience gets him ahead
Walker right now is in the rotation... if Craw is signed, what's the point
No, Balkman does not see much PT outside of garbage time

No, Balkman does not see much PT outside of garbage time - Exactly - really a waste of a roster spot.
Walker's career from 3 Pt is 40.4% - isn't this what we need? He is still young and can/will increase his Bball IQ. I'd pencil him in as back-up SG or back-up SF. Depends who else we might sign. But trading Walker and Balkman for Jamal is still a great move. Then, I believe, we can give the $2.5 mil exception to Shawne. So we get both Shawne and Jamal and an extra roster spot (Balkman's)

I am not down on Walker persay. I am down on big, unwieldly rotations. I'm sure Walker would see minuted here and there, but that I don't think Walker is better than the other nine or 10 guys mentioned

Knicks will have to extend the rotation to more players this year as the games are scheduled with very few off-days. 21 back-to-backs. Back-up players will be important. Also, we need to keep everyone healthy. Already Melo and Walker both have injuries.
"The Knicks will be playing 66 games in 124 days this season. The scheduled includes 21 back-to-backs, one back-to-back-to-back and four sets of four games in five nights."
In all honesty given recent developments I would rather have a combo of Shawne and Evans -if it can be swung- then Crawford.

i think they can only get one of the three. all those guys will want at least the room exception.
i just don't understand how anyone could have watched this team in the playoffs against Boston and feel comfortable with Toney and Landry being our starting backcourt.
they're nice young players. neither one can create their own shot or a shot for anyone else.
jamal crawford can create for himself and others - an insanely important skill for the playoffs. the only other guy who is MAYBE available to us who can do that is baron davis. and he might not be available. and if you look at what jamal has done the last two or three years, he's shown he's got a lot more left in the tank than baron and is more durable.
to me, the ability to add crawford is such a no-brainer and fills such an important role for this team.

Pringles will do what Pringles does and guys will be in the rotation and out of the rotation. There will be injuries. Players will contribute. But when it comes down to the playoffs there will need to be a shorter rotation with guys that have a developed role.
If you want to call Bill Walker getting 10 minutes per game over the course of 39 games this season as part of the rotation, okay, I concede. I don't think you draw it up that way. Just like when the Yankees have someone start to rest a guy that's over worked. That doesn't mean the replacement is part of the rotation. It just means he got a start. That's how I think about it

I personally think Evans is a vet min player on a championship team. I was surprised at his asking price. Of the 3 I take Shawne.

frankly, i think shawne williams is also a veteran minimum player. he hit some threes, he can defend. he doesn't do too much else well. though the team is so thin at forward behind amare and melo that i think he seems more necessary than he is.
i think the nets offering him $4M is just to EFF with us and raise his asking price. why would the nets sign him when they've got travis outlaw weighing down their cap at forward? they're going to overpay two limited forwards now?

All true. However we would be renting Jamal. We wont be able to resign him next year. At that point we have a big gap to fill unless he will take a multi year MLE contract. Would rather take a stab at guys like Rashad Mccants or Reggie Williams
