Knicks · Time for D’Antoni to go!! (page 1)

Travla @ 1/15/2012 7:12 AM
I was willing to give D’Antoni more time but not anymore. His offense does not fit this team and he does not know how to coach any other way. I don't know about you but I'm tired of seeing 3 or 4 guys hanging out at the 3 point line every time they set up the offense. The season is too short to give him 10 or 15 more games. I think Woodson was brought in for insurance, Knicks ownership and fans expect a better product with the talent they have and I think D’Antoni is or should be "on the clock".

Wait for Baron.
franco12 @ 1/15/2012 7:25 AM
how about how this team is constantly down 20 in the first period, giving up huge shooting nights to marginal players.

the simple fact is opposing teams light up when they see us, and know they will be able to score in volumes.

If I thought this team could go 6-3 or 7-2 in the next 9 games, I'd be willing to wait but we do not know what Baron will bring or how long it may take him to get it going. Those 9 games takes us to the end of the month. The offense will still involve taking 20 or more 3 pointers because that's what D'Antoni believes in.

Bonn1997 @ 1/15/2012 7:47 AM
What's some other coach going to get out of this roster that D'Antoni isn't? You won't get pretty results with any coach when you have the worst back-court in the league.

I agree with this. Baron will be the answers to our prayers Offensively. He can drive the ball and look for players. Chandler, shumpert, fields and Amare will all benefit. I just dont know about Melo

Travla @ 1/15/2012 8:03 AM
There is enough of a roster that they should be playing better. Another coach will bring a new philosophy and a willingness to adjust to his players. All opposing teams do is make them jumpshoot and D'Antoni never adjusts. When the bench is on the floor they almost never go to the hoop....jumpshot, jumpshot, jumpshot and that's when the opponents either catch up or pull away.

I have hope that Baron will help but don't think he's the whole answer.

We disagree on the first sentence. I'd say the team has the worst back-court in the league, a ball-stopping SF, a Shareef Abdur-Rahim type PF, and a very solid (but not superstar) C.

So another guy says a new coach after 12 games is the answer.

What coach?

What system?

IF you not able to move the ball and penetrate what do you do?

So basically your another fan that bought the "Starphuch" notion that the team with its "Stars" should not need to create chemistry nor fulfill the talent of a proper backcourt.

That when you trade for a star many players and picks the team lacks depth and assets to make more moves.

And somehow a new coach can do this magic!

I wish I was wrong.

I know what you mean. It sucks.

We can all argue about whether or not MDA had a proper roster to coach...One thing we can say about MDA, while here, his teams never once overachieved...We have seen teams overachieved over the years across the NBA...Never under MDA as a Knick coach...

No, I'm the guy who never thought D'Antoni was good for the NY Knicks. I'm the guy who's played and coached basketball....does that make me an expert?...no. Does it give me insight?, yes. The Knicks need another coach. I'm in agreement with others, D'Antoni's system with the "right" players can get you a lot of wins but it will never get you a championship. It's how he coaches and/or adjusts when he doesn't have the right players that concerns me. That's just my opinion, that's all.

franco12 @ 1/15/2012 8:41 AM
how about getting a coach in here to get some effort out of the players. give me hubie brown over this joker.

Riley came in, reinvented himself- but the one thing about his Knick squads is they gave 1000%. They weren't talented, but they played hard nosed basketball.

the game has changed, but we could still get a coach in here who could help with the effort level.

I don't think it's effort...The players are playing hard..Much better defense than they have played in the past..

If you do not have the talent, you can have unlimited effort and still lose. No way the Knicks as constructed can match up with a talented, cohesive and deep a team as OKC. No way. No matter how much effort you give, you gets outplayed by cohesion every day of the week.

Basketball is a team game and our team, that has years to go before it becomes a team, is incomplete.

what cracks me up is that last season so many were freaking out over breakin up a .519 team... but now it's the end of the friggin world that the team is .500

Not the end of the world, I just don't see this team being any more than a .500 with D'Antoni. Just watch as other teams play against us, even the bad teams have better ball movement. Except for the Sacramento and Detroit games, the Knicks always look a step slow and confused. If the shots are not dropping, they look lost. I believe that the frustration we've seen with Carmelo, Tyson and Amare is they no longer or maybe never did believe in this system of play.

Speaking for myself, I cant call this a witch hunt because I was never a believer in MDA's system. You dont win in this league, consistantly when you are a jump shooting team. Yes, a penetrating pg would help, but the idea of playing Stat 17-20 feet from the basket is assinine! How many times do we see Stat put the ball on the floor at the top of the key and lose it when he puts it on the floor? How about putting him in a different position? How about putting him down on the baseline, running a flex-cut for him where he can receive the ball 7 feet from the basket? I see the same the sets that MDA used in Pho and it doesn't work with this personnel.

MDA is supposed to be an offensive guru. Its his job to make the pieces fit. if he cant do that then he needs to be removed.

Show me what team has looks fluid on offense in the History if the NBA when the starting backcourt has absolutely zero ability to penetrate and create. Go ahead.
