I liked it. The movie wasn't great but it's better than most of what's out there, plus it was sci-fi which is not common these days.

Could it have been better? Yes. It did answer a lot of questions, but it created new ones. The acting by most of the characters was good. I though Charlize Theron was just ok. It is definitely a prequal but not in the sense of it being all about the alien.

Saw this Sunday... most of my friends that saw it saw it Firday and said they were disappointed. I probably would have been too because I was expecting a lot more out of the movie. But that tempered my expectations and thought Prometheus was good. It wasn't the prequal to Alien. It was more like Independence Day done properly

Man, I really miss good movies. Why does it always seem like noone makes good movies anymore? Maybe its because when I was younger I was more impressionable. I can honestly say I haven't seen a good movie in like 10 years. Alien is one of my favorites. I don't know what it is, maybe its the atmosphere, but they don't make movies that become classicanymore. All the movies you guys talk about are incredible. You can tell that this is gonna suck just by the line that they used for the trailer, don't remember what it was but it was pretty bad.

I finally saw it this weekend and I'd like to see it again. It helped that I went in not expecting a straight up Alien prequel. I think that's what threw a lot of people. There are a lot clues, some obvious, some visual and some that are little more ambiguous that give more insight into where Scott is going with this. I love the Aliens franchise, but how much more mileage can you get from that storyline. We've seen Ripley survive on her own, we've seen her survive with marines, we've seen her fight an Alien with convicts, we've seen her sacrifice herself, we've seen her clone with a Alien, we've seen Aliens cloned with dogs and we've seen Aliens merged with Predators.

I really liked it as well and went into it with similar expectations. There are obviously a lot of unanswered questions but it is an interesting story line.

Finally saw Prometheus this past weekend, and my expectations were about met. Not great, but not bad either. Solid cast, solid acting, just was missing "something".

*Spoiler Alert*

Why do the engineers seem so hostile to us, since they're the ones that created us, and want to kill Earth so bad again? Guess we'll have to wait for the sequel for that answer...

I have a theory on this - do you remember the beginning of the movie when one of the engineers was left behind on earth and then he drank something and turned into dust/DNA? It was his DNA that started life on earth, at least that show it appears. Maybe he had been exiled or something, there was a reason he was left behind. So my theory is that he was the black sheep and the engineers consider humans to be a part of him and want to destroy us.

Who knows if that is right, but its the only thing I could come up with since they didn't tell us much.

That is a potential answer. Maybe that particular engineer went "rogue", and now the rest of the engineers want to clean up that mess. I have a feeling though, that it's not that simple, and we'll find out soon enough why in the near future.
